Definitely one of the most underrated hits of the 1980s. The song peaked at #24 on Billboard and only spent five weeks in the Top 40 (I believe it peaked at 16 on R&R). I remember hearing the song on the radio a lot in the fall of 1980 and it takes me back to that year. Definitely one of my favorite Jackson Browne songs.

I actually love Jackson Browne's music. This is a great song. "Stay" is probably my favorite.
Some other good ones... "Lawyers In Love" "Doctor My Eyes" "Running On Empty" "The Pretender" "Tender Is The Night"
I've always wanted to see him live. Everyone says he is a great live performer.

He is - I've seen him twice - a consummate performer. This is my favourite JB song.

I've always wanted to see him live. Everyone says he is a great live performer. I saw him concert last summer - He only did about 6 songs(they had 2 l-o-n-g opening acts). He olny performed Running On Empty, Doctor My Eyes, In The Shape Of A Heart(a low charting single) and alot of his newer material from the 2000's. I was very disappointed, especially since he didn't do The Load Out/Stay.

I like it. Classic 80's JAM! My favorite is "For America".

Good song.
My favorite by him is still "Somebody's Baby" (from Fast Times At Ridgemont High).

It's actually not one of my favorite songs of his. But Jackson Browne is an awesome songwriter and a great vocalist.
"The Pretender" is a classic, and why should it not? That may be among my Top 5 favorite ballads of all time.
"Sky Blue and Black" is soooooooo sad but beautiful, and gets to me every time. "In The Shape Of A Heart" also is heartfelt.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Didn't this song have like a nice jazzy little instrumental bridge in it? I don't remember this like I should.
I love "Hold On Hold Out" "Lawyers In Love" "Tender Is The Night" and prolly most of the Running On Empty album. He's an artist that I have several albums on vinyl but never thought to convert to CD. That will change I'm sure, unless his GH CD has all the essential stuff on it.

Might be my favorite Jackson Browne song. One of three, anyway, with "The Pretender" and "Somebody's Baby." Been playing this quite a bit again lately.
