Same. Not counting I'm Breathless, Erotica and Bedtime Stories remain my two least favorite Madonna albums. I probably like Bedtime Stories the least - I like about 5 of hte 11 songs on the record. The whole album is such a warbled mess of filler and yawn-inducing production. This song is a pretty good example of that. An even better example would be "Don't Stop," possibly the worst song Madonna has ever recorded. [/quote]
I'd have to go with 'Dear Jessie' for the title of worst Madonna song ever.

I agree with you about the Vanilla Ice thing. She could have picked some better guy to pose with. Like Marky Mark. He was popular then. Of all the guys she chose, she chose Vanilla Ice?ย :'( :'( ??? ??? Especially considering Vanilla Ice's career was well over by October of 1992 (when the Erotica video was out). Marky Mark would've been a good choice, but he and Madonna hated eachother. I believe he called her Beetlejuice with a gold tooth in some interview. Not to mention Mark was a raging homophobe (he still is, he's just smart enough to keep quiet about it now) and thus she wouldn't have gone near him for the project.

Love it. Wish 2Pac was on the final version.

The terrible awful, nay, the "shit pie" of Bedtime Stories. With the exception of "Secret" I don't like any song from the first half of the album.

I love the Bedtime Stories album, but this track itself does nothing for me.

One of my favorites from BS. I wish Warner would have allowed Madonna to keep Tupac on this. His verse is so much better than Me'shell Ndegeocello's.

Reading the comments from almost a decade ago. Some harsh, tough cookies. Lol. I didn't understand the negative or extreme dislike to this song or its era. It's honestly my favorite album of hers from the 90s, though it is not her best effort (at all or from the 90s).
I've always enjoyed this song, wouldn't say I'm in love w/it, however the production is lovable. It would've been nice for her label to push either this or 'Survival' as a single.

The terrible awful, nay, the "s**t pie" of Bedtime Stories. With the exception of "Secret" I don't like any song from the first half of the album. I agree with this, although I can at least appreciate "Inside of Me" (at worst it's just forgettable) - but "Survival", "I'd Rather Be Your Lover", and "Don't Stop" each range from slightly annoying to vomit inducing depending on the day. It sucks because this album's collection of singles is strong as f**k (especially the first three), but there are very few album tracks on there that I truly enjoy. ("Sanctuary" and "Forbidden Love" are probably the album tracks I enjoy the most). I love the Bedtime Stories album, but this track itself does nothing for me. I think I was blinded by my love for the singles when I wrote this. Saying I love the album as a whole would definitely be an exaggeration.

I quite like the track. It isn't quite the mark of Secret, Human Nature and Bedtime Story but those three songs are amazing. I may have Forbidden Love near those ranks. I have Take a Bow about on par with this as well as Survival and Inside of Me.

I really like the commercially released version, an underrated funky track for her.

As for Tupac and Madonna, I've read that he broke things off with her because he wanted to protect his image. He didn't want the Black community to turn against him for dating a white woman. Too bad.

Madonna and Tupac were once lovers?! It does make you wonder if she had written this song with him in mind, lmao.
