Really? I like the Kings Mix a lot, but I would have chosen both the Morales Classic Mix or the Damizza Remix over it.

I've always liked this. I prefer it to the original. Might not be as good as most of what she released before this, but I think it's better than most of what was to come on her next 3 albums.

This might actually be my favorite Mariah cover on record. I actually own both the US CD singles as well as an Australia one.

I love this. The only thing I don't like is the production... I prefer the production of the original; Mariah's vocal though is so much better. The remixes (dance and hip hop) were some of the best of her whole career. As was the video.

It's cute, but the song itself was never anything that great. The Pure Imagination version of this is great though and one of her most underrated creations.

I would have never imagined that "I Still Believe", "Come Back To Me" (Vanessa Hudgens) and "Love You Like A Love Song" (Selena Gomez & The Scene) were written by the same person lol

I always liked this. Can't say it's a career highlight, but it's a very solid cover and better than the original.
BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE MOTHER F**KING REMIXES. Every single remix commissioned for this was amazing. The Stevie J with Mocha and Amil, the Pure Imagination Remix, the Morales, the Kings Mix, the Eve Of Souls Mix. Every last one slayed.
Also, the single cover is one of my fav Mariah pics ever.

^^^ That's probably my favorite live vocal performance from her! :O I was like damn!!!?? She actually out-sang Whitney on this episode. I don't recall what song she did but it was boring as hell.

Whitney did "I Learned From the Best." I think my favorite performances of this are Rosie and Billboard Awards.

This is also one of my favorites from her. I've been listening to the Morales Classic Club Mix and Radio Mix non-stop lately. Definitely my favorite Dance Remix of hers (and the only version I ever used to hear on the radio).

Love the evident aging in her voice on this track. My favorite part is when she sings
"If there's one spark of hope left in my grasp I'll hold it with both hands. It's worth the risk of burning, to have a second chance"

It wasn't until some time last year that this song fully connected for me. A great cover. I prefer it over the original. I love the vocal texture of her voice.

I thought she did a great job on this cover, but I love how the original had more of an endearing quality to it.

Particularly in the 90s Mariah chose great covers; they all have such strong melodies, and that sit well in her voice. This is a great example.
Also, I live for the Kings Mix!

The Damizza remix is the best version. I used to hear that version on Power 106 LA a lot back in 1999.

This was the first song when I really felt like her voice was damaged. I still cringe when I hear it. Yup. I remember when it was first released and I was like...umm. While Mariah is CLEARLY the better vocalist, Brenda K. Starr's version was better - more pure, maybe? Agreed with the people who said the Pure Imagination is the best version.

I think it's one of the few songs from Mariah's catalogue where you feel she's struggling to hit some of the notes and her voice kind of (maybe intentionally) cracks. While I do like the song, that's one issue that unfortunately prevents it from being in the top tier of her discography for me.
It does work in conveying the sentiment of yearning and hope though, so it doesn't necessarily ruin the song.

I prefer the original Brenda K Starr version but the David Morales remix is the best mix of Mariah's cover version.

This song had hot remixes.
My personal favorites are the Stevie j remix and The Kings mix (love the dark vibes !).

Great cover. I might not like Brenda K.Mart but I love how she stays faithful to the original recording. The chorus/bridge doesn’t even sound like Mimi (except when she says, “I had a dream.” That’s obviously her 😂).

After Hearbreaker, this song was the highlight of the Rainbow era. Loved the video treatment, the remixes, even the seemingly declining vocal ability.

This is one single (post-Butterfly) that I don't revisit often, but I like it. I prefer it to Brenda K. Starr's original version.
I like how different the original and the remixes (Pure Imagination and Stevie J.) are from each other. Also, I've always wanted to hear Amil and Mocha on a track since I thought they had similar voices.

I always loved this song, but have to admit her vocals are a little dry sounding, but very powerful. There were a couple of live versions where she actually sounded better. I believe the “Billboard” awards were one of them. I was never huge on the”Pure Imagination” remix, but loved the version with Mocha and Amil. The dance mixes were good to.
