I'm following pophector's example by posting a year-old song in the Nostalgia forum (he posted a topic for "Game Of Love" a little over a year after it was released and it had just fallen off the last of the many charts it was on.) And seeing that "Trouble With Love Is" has been long since fallen off the charts...
I really liked this song, which kicked off Ryan Seacrest's Top 100 of 2004, it had a sixties feel to it. I did NOT like the remix version of the song. That totally ruined the song. The song was supposed to be a slow song. If it was supposed to be upbeat, Kelly Clarkson would have recorded it like that. Many slow songs have been messed up like that by being remixed into dance versions (though one song I liked better that way was "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" by Madonna. That song would have gone nowhere at Pop radio in its slow version)

This was a great song. It went Top 5 on my chart. It definitely was not the best choice for a single though.

aww this was such a great ballad by kelly, but i agree that it was a terrible choice for a single. It really fit the movie soundtrack though

Like most others said, this was a good song, but it was a bad single choice.
This peaked at #10 on my personal chart, and is closing out the year at #58 on my year-end chart. Not bad!

I like it, but I'm actually surprised it did as well as it did.

I like it, just not as a single. My local station, for a period of time, played both the album and remixed versions alternately. I have to say that the remixed version sounded better on the radio. They soon dropped the album version and the song topped the station's playlist for a couple of weeks.
She did a mix of the album and remixed version on tour. I thought it was pretty neat, but I'm not hard to please.

My favorite single from Kelly. Her delivery was really good and soulful.

Her delivery was really good and soulful. You are right about that... but it just leaves something to be desired for me.

I haven't heard this in quite a while, but I always remember thinking she oversang it.

Excellent album track, but not the best choice for a single. I doubt it would have been a single were it not for the Love Actually soundtrack. It's the only Kelly single so far to not chart on the Hot 100 (it peaked at #1 on the Bubbling Under chart) and not make the top 20 on CHR/Pop (it peaked at either #22 or #23). Here's the video.

What an awful single. It's just boring. Agree with that. There were much better choices too. This is a decent album track but should NEVER have been a single.

I can't believe I liked this so much when I first got her album! Easily her worst single.

Bad single choice IMO. They should have released another song like "Just Missed The Train" or even "Before Your Love" (although the latter wasn't terribly radio-friendly) or just end the album where it was.

Like most people I found it dull. Maybe I would have liked it if I had the album.

The Dotmusic review of this was pretty funny....
This is doomed from the start, considering it's included on the soundtrack of that spawn-of-Satan flick 'Love, Actually'. To add insult to injury, it's not a million miles away from Boyz II Men's astonishingly awful 'End Of The Road'.
'American Idol' winner (or was she runner-up? Can anyone actually keep those sorts of facts in their heads anymore?) Clarkson has a good voice in the same way that Christina Aguilera has a good voice, i.e. you can't stand to listen to it for more than about 14 seconds, but it's technically perfect. She whoops and yodels and whispers huskily, and it's all gospel-lite and destined for Number 7.
There's only one vaguely positive thing we can think of to say, and it's so tangential it's hardly worth mentioning: the string arrangement for 'The Trouble With Love' was put together by Larry Gold, whose recent 'Don Cello' album is a brilliant example of how to do modern gospel-soul without it ending up formless mush like this.
Aside from that, this is sh*te, actually.
1/10
It actually peaked at #37 here. Pretty disastrous.

This is the only bad single Kelly Clarkson has had, "Just Missed The Train" and "Beautiful Disaster" would've performed much better and they were better songs.

Wow...I'm surprised at all the hatred toward this song. Granted, it's not my favorite Kelly song, but I do enjoy it. Back when the remix came out, the bar I now work at always played it, and it got a huge response. I wonder how this did on the club chart. I throw it on every once in awhile at the bar, and people still love it. Maybe it's just something people in Ohio are loving. lol
Peace, Ben

I still love this and think it's one of her most underrated singles. Maybe I love it so much because of Love Actually.

I liked it a lot, but it wasn't a good single choice. Agreed. I wish she'd give us more of these bluesy/soulful vocals on her albums.
