Two of the top groups of the 1960s, together on the same song -- and they really don't disappoint. Great record! This was the best of the four singles the two groups released together. It was initially written for and released by Dionne Warwick's little sister (Dee Dee Warwick) in 1967. But the Supremes/Tempts version blows that one out of the water. Eddie Kendricks sings his cool falsetto and Diana Ross sounds super-sexy. This song went platinum and was a big hit in the U.S., making it to #2 on the Hot 100 and at R&B. It made #3 in the U.K. I've listened to their duet albums and have never felt like the groups had great chemistry on their other songs. Their other duet singles failed to make the top 10 in the U.S. or U.K.

i love this song... i heard it on the radio as a kid and instantly fell in love. my favorite part has to be the "affirmation" done after they sing the title:
"i'm gonna make you love me... oooh. yes, i will... yes, i will!... "

Originally released by Dionne Warwick's sister Dee Dee Warwick in 1966. It was a minor hit, and then their was a version that hit in early 1968 by Madeline Bell featuring Dusty Springfield on background vocals. You can find them all on youtube.
