Who remembers this global #1 hit by "Britain's own Britney," Billie? I loved it! The video was cool too. I remember dancing around my room to it. Classic! This was the song that helped Billie score huge ratings for her reality show in 1998, I think! What was it called, "Billie Wants You"? Since she began her "hiatus" in England in 2001, she has been popping up under different aliases, a la Samantha Mumba. Do you remember when Billie tried out for American Idol under the name Ryan Starr? She's still "live and kickin'"! Go Billie. MP3: music.walmart.com/m/007/24/38/47/49/22/0072438474922.01.01.003.mp3

I was just going to make a topic about this tonight... :o Anyway, I really liked this song. Nothing groundbreaking but it was a decent enough pop song. Too bad everything else she's put out sucked...

I like the song. There were two music videos for it. MTV played one, they were dancing around and Disney had one were she was at the movies.

"Britain's own Britney," Billie? >:(. Billie even said, Britney is the "American Billie"! This song is amazinggggg.. I love it! At the time everybody was hugging Britney's "...BOMT" ass, I was feeling left out. One day at Best Buy, the "She Wants You" video was showing on the big screen TVs... and I fell in love @ 1st site! Billie was soo cute in the video! Once the video was over, I went to go look for the single in the store.. and surprise, surprise, Best Buy carried it!! KIIS-fm even believed in the song and added it! :) I liked both versions of the video, but I liked the dance/choreography-only video better since you can sorta learn how to swing to it. I even tried to learn the dance! :) I tried to get everyone in school to get into "She Wants You" but no one wanted to. I even went as far as recording "snippets" on a cassette to encourage my friends to buy the album if they liked what they heard. :) :) :) I remembered "She Wants You" won a NBC "Friday Night" jukebox by 1%! I wonder if my begging to Rita Sever in an email to play it and let it win had anything to do with it. I voted sooooo much for it! Go Billie! Her "reality show" was really just a promotional 1-hour epk. It was called "Billie Wants You! Greetings America From The UK!" -- I bought the promo video cos I wasn't a Billie fan when UPN ran it. I remembered watching commercials for it on UPN and not knowing who or what it was. I thought "Billie" was a boy!! Anyway, the show was on a Friday night, I remember. And it scored the LOWEST rating that week.. cos UPN wasn't hot stuff yet and no one was really gonna stay up on Friday to watch someone they've never heard of. "She Wants You" also had an ugly US single cover. So bland! Although Virgin Records somehow was able to get record stores to put a small stand-up (which I own btw!) next to the cashier counters of "She Wants You" singles, the record stores didn't discount the single to $1.99. Most singles were usually $1.99 at the time.

It's OK. This was her 4th single in the UK/Australia. The other 3 were MUCH better - "Because We Want To" (Teenage anthem), "Girlfriend" and "Honey To The Bee".
Her debut album was incredible - great variety of pop songs and definitely better than Britney's.

"Honey To The Bee" was the fourth single in the UK. I'm not sure if Australia followed suit.
"She Wants You" was her third UK single, released during the Christmas period. It failed to notch the Christmas #1 that went to the Spice Girls' "Goodbye." However, it did manage #3 and stayed quite a while in the Top 40.
"I Dream" was suppose to be the fifth single but it was scrapped due to "management problems."

I really liked this one. Here in Canada this one was the third single (like the UK) but my pop station didn't play this one. They did give "Because We Want To" and "Girlfriend" quite a bit of airplay though.

This topic has made me wanna listen to Billie's "Honey To The B" again! Much props to whomever started it.
I've always thought that the "Music to the ear is like honey to the bee, and this is me, Billie" quote was a bit weird.

Much props to whomever started it. :). I loved that Billie quote because it didn't make much sense.

I used to think that she was really singing, "I know that she walks, she walks, she walks!" But when I bought the "Pop To The Power of 16" CD and heard Billie's song, I realized my mistake...and bought "Honey To The B" and "Pokemon: The First Movie"! And the rest is history...(In other words, I discovered Angela Via...)

Billie even said, Britney is the "American Billie"! Well, Billie shot to fame in the UK and Europe before Britney had her first single in the States, so to people around the world, I guess this would be true. I hated Billie's songs, but I remember thinking she looked much hotter than Britney back in '98 and '99...I actually saw pictures of her recently and she doesn't look anywhere as good now. I heard sometime back that she moved to LA with Chris Evans...is she still there?

I heard sometime back that she moved to LA with Chris Evans...is she still there? Perhaps. I dunno, but she's been doing a lot of acting lately -- and the critics actually praised her work! She recently starred in the first part of BBC's "The Canterbury Tales" in "Miller's Tale." Last month, she was in "Bella and The Boys." Next, she'll be seen opposite Orlando Bloom in the indie flick "The Calcium Kid"!

Oh OK... yeah SWY was the 4th single in Aus. It was the smallest of her hits too.
I never thought she was hot... she was quite average looking. She looks much better in those pics despite all the makeup.

I actually think Billie was much better than she got credit for. 'Honey To The Bee' was a great pop song.
My BIllie singles ranking:
1. Walk Of Life 2. Honey To The Bee 3. Somethink Deep Inside 4. Day & Night 5. She Wants You 6. Because We Want To 7. Girlfriend (YUCK!!!)
Her second album is actually one of the best pure pop albums I own. Apart from her terrible cover of 'The Tide Is High' it's brilliant single-worthy pop from start to finish. 'Run That By Me' and 'Because Of You' are absolutely wonderful.

I'd rank her singles:
1. Honey To The Bee 2. Day & Night 3. Because We Want To 4. Something Deep Inside 5. Girlfriend 6. She Wants You 7. Walk Of Life
Her debut is a BRILLIANT pop album. I thought her 2nd was mostly garbage apart from the 2 singles. "Ring My Bell" was so bad that it was actually really good! The rest bored me to tears and I have tried to listen to it so many times but can never stand it long enough. The debut meanwhile I can listen to over and over and it still sounds good.

I remember raving about her second album so much at the time. Now I can barely listen to it. It's not very good.. as much as I was overjoyed she hit #1 with "Day and Night," the song just doesn't bode well with me. The lyrics aren't very good.
My favorite songs off her 2nd album were "Promises" and "Misfocusing." I think this was the time she was trying to reinvent herself to be more slick like Britney songs.

I still don't own "Walk Of Life," but I want to get it on Ebay soon. I loved "Something Deep Inside," which according to you, or Billie, was about "deep love, not anal sex."
When "Something Deep Inside" was released, I bought it on Amazon.co.uk without my mom's permission! I felt so bad, and I was afraid she would be overcharged for paying in US$. But I was relieved when she never mentioned it.
Billie looked like Mariah in the video. It was sexy. I loved it! The bikini in the forest scene was hot too. Very dark and caliente! I think I'll listen to it tonight. Both the remix and the original were good.
Darn, I should have saved all that for the "Something Deep Inside" Nostalgia topic!

"Something Deep Inside" had a nice video but the director or whoever edited it had to be shot. The video is all over the place.. the feel and concept is RIGHT but the amateur director cuts here and there and everything doesn't flow well. It embarasses me when a song as cool as "SDI" shows Billie and her friends laughing and canoodling, recording themselves on a video camera. That scene was almost as bad as Delta Goodrem and friends throwing popcorn and playing Pac-Man in "Lost Without You." I remember when I saw early pics of the video I was sooo happy because it looked so good! Then I watched the video and was disappointed. I bought the single over HMV.co.uk and they sent me an extra copy of one of them for some reason since they both shipped seperately. So I got a free copy. I gave it to my friend who didn't really care for it. :-\ I think I started saying the song wasn't about anal sex because the lyrics really sound like it's about that. "I can feel but I can't touch... It's something deep inside." Sweet Billie couldn't have been writing about that, could she?
