Just got the CD One by One by the Foo Fighters. This album won the Best Rock Album Grammy for 2003. After a few listens, I'm sorta wondering why. Something struck me right away with the lyrics. They repeat the same lyric over and over in several of the songs. The same phrase sung like ten times. Kinda strange. Wondering if the whole Nirvana mystique hovers over this band and gives them extra credit with critics. It's not that I don't like it, but wondering what makes it the best of that year. What do you think of it?

Well I still think it's pretty good.. It doesn't really bore me or anything. While not as good as their other works, I can say it's respectable enough. I really don't base a whole lot of things by their awards though, so I kind of don't care.

I love this CD. It is one of those rare CD's that I don't skip over any of the tracks. I can put it in and I throughly enjoy every track. Is it the best CD in that genre... no, but still a Great CD.

I don't hold much stock in the grammies, but I think you are probably right that the Foo Fighters get that extra boost of critical acclaim because of Nirvana.
I hate Nirvana, and always have, but I really like the Foo Fighters. This album isn't their best, but I like a lot of songs on it.

I've given it a few more listens and it has really grown on me.
But, help me out here: The intro to the song Halo (7) sounds soooooo famliar to me. Maybe Running on Empty by Jackson Browne?? Can you pop your copy of the CD in and give it a listen. It is driving me crazy!!!
Thanks!
