Another great 70s funk tune, this mild love song is one of my favorites by the TOP. A very sad little ditty, this. The horn work is excellent.

I think the only ToP song I know is "Don't Change Horses" because it snuck onto AT40 for a couple of weeks. I'm curious to hear more of them so I may seek this out. thx

This is a really good jam. Very well produced, the vocals and music are reminiscent of classic Motown (quick factoid, the group was originally called The Motowns, it's obvious why when listening to this song).
This was their biggest hit chart-wise, #17 on the pop chart, and #11 on the R&B chart.

One of my all-time favorite songs. Very soulful. #1 in northern California, where TOP was huge. Also outstanding were "Diamonds Sparkling in the Sand" and "Clever Girl".

Good choice of classics. So Very Hard To Go is indeed true in its form. Very soulful with the vocal stylings of Lenny Williams before venturing out on his own with the famously uncharted classic 'Cause I Love You. I remembered them performing that song at halftime in Super Bowl VIII back in '74. Very strong song. Others from TOP with that same style was the funky 1972 classic What Is Hip and another soulful ballad You're Still A Young Man. Both have that brassy feel to it. Kind of reminds me a little bit of the Memphis Horns

I'm glad to see that some of you like this song as much as I do. I didn't know if anyone would recognize the title, really, I don't think the song did all that well on Pop, maybe Top 20 but probably not much higher. It did much better at Urban (or whatever that chart was called in those days).
If you've never heard this, but you like mild funk and/or horns you really should check it out. It's a true classic of its genre.

Last check of that song it went as high as #17 on the Billboard charts in June of '73. I do remember that it did well on the Soul charts back then.

While I couldn't name any TOP songs specifically, I did see them perform a free show at Mohegan Sun. They play there every few months. These guys are talented musicians and were definitely worth seeing.

I've been hearing this a lot on one of my old schools radio stations. It reminds me of hearing this in heavy rotation once again from the old school station. Lol. This song was very huge out here before I was thought of.
