Spent 4 weeks atop Hot 100 & #5 UK.
What a very catchy song... how very "You Gotta Be" :)

This is one of my all-time favorite songs. This song is also on the Cool Runnings Soundtrack, I believe it is covered on there, but it still sounds great.
Long Live Reggae!!!

wow, i brought this song up once on the old boards and i don't think i got a single response. good to see that someone does remember it.
some of you kasem fans may be able to help me out here. there's a point near the end of this tune where nash holds a single note for a remarkably long time. it comes on the last word of the line 'nothing but blue skies' and goes on and on. i believe casey once said that that was the longest continuous note carried by any singer in pop history. course, that was about 30 years ago, the record may have been broken since. anyone know?
and yes, btw, this is a great little tune.

It may have been at the time, not sure. By 1980, when AT40 did their "Book Of Records" show, the recordholder was Donna Summer with her long note on "Dim All The Lights". Air Supply ("All Out Of Love") and Sheriff ("When I'm With You") have also gotten mentions by Casey since then.

An oldies/classic hits staple although I grew up with the Jimmy Cliff cover version from the 1993 film "Cool Runnings" (that version was often heard on Adult Contemporary radio stations back then).

It's a beautiful song regardless of which version you've heard. Johnny Nash's version was a bigger hit than Jimmy Cliff's but both do the job of infusing positivity and hope.
