Marv brings up a good point. (What's this lovefest, though? Marv, we're supposed to be correcting each other, aren't we? Well, it's Christmastime. We can agree a few times. Then you can go back to being wrong. And so can I.)
In the 1970's, 24 of Conway Twitty's 25 #1 songs stayed on the charts for less than 20 weeks. One song managed 20 on the nose. And, also in that decade, all of Merle Haggard's 16 #1 songs fell short of 20-week runs. The world didn't end then, and it won't end now, just because a few fast-moving superstars have their chart runs cut short.
