okay... I think this is the new fashion. Sorry gave a hint Addicted gave the warning Bad Girlfriend makes it official: Trashy Sexual Rock is back again!!!! It's like having a flashback of the Glam Rock of the late 80s, but now with more 'crude' lyrics and videos. Not being suggestive as Poison but being more upfrony soft-porn Under Cool New Music in All Access AND with 4 adds in Pop: WVYB-FM Daytona Beach (#85) WDOD-FM Chattanooga (#107) KRCK-FM Palm Springs, CA (#133) S001-FM >SiriusSatellite * The sound/voice is like Nickelback. This is a link to the uncensored video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxxfVz-tgvEAnd these are some of the "lyrics" ??? My girlfriend's a dick magnet :o My girlfriend's gotta have it She's hot, can't stop, up on stage doing shots Tip the man he'll ring the bell, get her drunk she'll scream like hell Dirty girl, gettin' down, dance with guys from outta town Grab her ass, actin' tough, Mess with her, she'll f**k you up No one really knows if she's drunk or if she's stoned, but she's comin' back to my place tonight! >:( She likes to shake her ass :'( She grinds it to the beat She likes to pull my hair when I make her grind her teeth I like to strip her down She's naughty to the end You know what she is, no doubt about it She's a BAD BAD GIRLFRIEND ??? I posted this not because I am a fan, but because I'm shock and waiting (concerned) if this will become another trashy rock hit

The sound/voice is like Nickelback. Now there's the understatement of the year. Chad Kroeger practically nursed these guys into the piece of crap band they are. Seriously, if this takes off then I won't know why Hinder's "Use Me" didn't, and thank God that it didn't. Between this, "Addicted," Buckcherry's "Too Drunk," and the aforementioned Hinder song; Active Rock has been playing crap like this for the last couple of months. And even though I'm typically not a big fan of the pop crowd, I still wouldn't wanna subject anyone to this garbage. I cringed when this hit number one, but I thought I was in the clear when Metallica soared to number one only to have this somehow pass it while "The Day that Never Comes" was still new. Thankfully it's no longer atop the Active chart and is now hopefully falling off the chart altogether. There's so much great rock music out there but all pop wants to listen to is junk like "Addicted." Seriously Seether's "Rise Above This" should've been a pop hit but never broke the top 40. Alter Bridge's "Watch Over You" is getting a ton of play at VH1 but neither HAC nor Pop will play it. There are so many crossover potential songs out today, even "Viva La Vida" couldn't break the top 10 while Addicted did just that. If Shinedown's "Second Chance" doesn't cross over at some point than I don't know what other good rock music has a shot. [/End rant]

Watch Over You is arguably the most deserving rock ballad to cross over to Pop. I've been wanting that song to be a multi-format smash even before VH1 used it for their show.

Sorry for expressing my ignorant comment about a format that I don't follow when I am opening a thread of the format I do follow Alter Bridge's "Watch Over You" is getting a ton of play at VH1 but neither HAC nor Pop will play it. Watch Over You is arguably the most deserving rock ballad to cross over to Pop. I've been wanting that song to be a multi-format smash even before VH1 used it for their show. Thanks for the information, guys. I just listened to that song for the first time and it is AWESOME. Agree! That is the type of song that Rock should be exporting to Pop!

WOY is really a beautiful song and I'm still hoping that it get the success it deserves. Not to mention, Myles Kennedy is arguably one of the best rock lead singers of today. There's also a duet version with Cristina Scabbia (of Lacuna Coil): www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch_sQu9CwLk&feature=relatedUnless this is already the one you listened to lol. Back to TOAD, I don't understand why they would release this. "Not Meant To Be" is a whole lotta less offensive. And they can also go with "By The Way" which I'm sure Chris Daughtry's name would help get the song more attention especially at the Top 40 and HAC formats. So odd... ???

I listened to the non-duet version 'crashed', but I'm right now listening to the duet About TOAD, okay... I just saw in All Access that there is also a Pop Remix of "Not Meant To Be" listed, BUT it hasn't received any adds so far (much better song, I agree). So, this may just be the option of those 4 stations above so far, and the label is still deciding which song pushing for definite adds. I suppose that's the way it works (and I suppose this thread is about to be moved to the non-singles, then ) but well, I'm just learning how to read the All Access information, which just tonight I started to look at Oh, and the duet of WOY is nice, too!! but I prefer the original. His voice is really good!

68 61 THEORY OF A DEADMAN Bad Girlfriend Atlantic/Roadrunner/RRP 188 148 40 0.710
Bound to Top 50 soon, it has been rising throughout these slow weeks.

Hurray! See now I think this should get an adds date. It's almost top 60, and getting it onto a few more stations wouldn't hurt. This could be the next "Rockstar"

Imo they should send that one for adds.

It does worry me that only these types of songs cross over these days. Hopefully we'll see an improvement in the rock world soon, Shinedown and Alter Bridge's labels are really wasting valuable time.
*Sits and waits for the new Breaking Benjamin, Skillet, and RED albums*

I like this a lot actually. This isn't like 'Addicted' because this is actually radio-friendly and catchy. 'Addicted' was just a nasty and disgusting to me. Not even because of the actual lyrical content. It was just a really ugly sounding song if that makes any sense.

Well, I disagree completely!! THIS song for me is simply vomit-inducing for me. Sorry, but I cannot accept that such HORRID lyrics can be put into a song AND Pop radio is starting to embracing it. This song's lyrics makes Addicted seem like a lullaby. And I don´t see any type of Clean Edit for a song like this. At least, Addicted was changed from "going down" to "rolling around". But if they want to do an edit of this song, they will have to write another song, as simple as that. I don't know how they can replace so many atrocities like the dick magnet, the fuck you up, the grab her ass, the being stoned, the shake her ass and the strip her ass after she grinds her teeth. I mean, these are the most disgusting lyrics I have ever heard. This could be well for a soundtrack of a porn movie that I could tolerate if I am watching some XXX movie and jacking off, but I cannot see my self listening to this tune while eating my lunch or talking with friends. In a case like this, a song should not be based only on the "beat".
I was already shocked when I heard that Lil' Wayne was talking about licking his lollipop, licking the wrapper, the pussy in his mouth, making the girl bring her ass back, making it juicy for her, getting her on top, giving head and getting head. That was like jaw dropping for me and thought it was the bottom line, but now we have an even more sexually charged song like this. I think it´s too much and it seems the easiest way now to get a rock hit on Pop. This is what I could call Rock Music Prostitution.

Okay you need to calm down. I don't get why the hell this country is so deathly afraid of sex. It's part of why the rest of the world thinks we're absurd.
But the song IS horrible as a piece of music. Rock music right now is at its most generic in history... it's really a sad state of affairs

Exhibit A: Rock music right now is at its most generic in history... it's really a sad state of affairs THIS is exactly what I was talking about earlier. THIS QUOTE is exactly what I was afraid of. Sorry relly but you could not be further from the truth. Songs like Addicted and Bad Girlfriend give people the impression that Rock music is failing, when there is so much great music out there to be heard. People hear one or two songs on pop radio and decide to make a generalization of the entire genre. I'll admit I used to be very guilty of this in the rap genre, but now I at least try to listen to a song before I pass judgment. All the more reason to hope this song stalls and goes nowhere. Sorry Cody

I think it´s too much and it seems the easiest way now to get a rock hit on Pop. This is what I could call Rock Music Prostitution. LOL! You are out of control. An edited version can easily be made for "Bad Girlfriend"...and here it is. My Girlfriend's a guy magnet My Girlfriend's gotta have it She's hot, can't stop, up on stage, doing shots, Tip the man he'll Ring the bell, get her drunk she'll scream like hell. Dirty girl, gettin' down, dance with guys from outta town. Grab her body, actin' tough. Mess with her, she'll mess you up. No one really knows if she's drunk or if she's crazy, but she's Comin' back to my place tonite! She likes to shake her body she grinds it to the beat She likes to pull my hair when I make her grind her teeth I like to strip her down she's naughty to the end You know what she is, no doubt about it She's a bad, bad girlfriend! Something like that...and don't even get me started on Lil' Wayne. It is a critically reviewed and Grammy nominated song. That just shows you you are a bit out of control right now. Not saying if established critics enjoy it, you need to as well, but you don't need to think it is ruining pop radio or these songs should be in porns. Maybe country music doesn't go that far with the lyrics, but some of the stuff is quite dirty.

My favorite thing about this song is that the song was co-written by the lead singer and his wife.

Well, yes, I'm exaggerating the tone of my comments, to emphasize my viewpoint. But my opinion is almost the same.
I enjoy sex and things related to sex can be enjoyable, too... but all to a certain age and up to certain limits. I don't think an overtly sexual song should be mainstream, as I don't think a soft-porn movie should be publicly displayed at 10 am so that any kid out there can watch that.
However, besides that issue, there is a matter of taste. I find these lyrics disgusting and I was basically reacting to britney4lyfe saying that Addicted was disgusting for him but he actually liked Bad Girlfriend. That was like the world upside down for me.
Of course, another issue is AGAIN the topic of portraying women as sex toys or sex objects, as with the video for Addicted or the whole idea of these songs (Lollipop included). And this is old news, too. It already happened in the late 80s, when the typical rock/pop video had women in tiny clothes with suggestive dancing, stripping down to the male singers.
I thought we had passed that stage of music, when rock songs had to mix generic beat with sexual lyrics and videos to get attention of the public.
By the way, rellybois, I'm not American, so your comment about US affraid of sex does not apply to me. Still, I am not against talking or singing about sex, but I am all for dealing with it appropriately. I do not think this song does that, but that's my opinion of course. I am fine with songs like I Kissed A Girl or Jizz My Pants. I partially accepted Lollipop, because it sorta used some metaphors, but Bad Girlfriend went straight to the point IMO.

Of course, another issue is AGAIN the topic of portraying women as sex toys or sex objects, as with the video for Addicted or the whole idea of these songs (Lollipop included). Look Im a HUGE TOAD fan so I LOVE this song and want it to do as well as possible. First of all, this song was co-written by Ty Connoly's wife, so this cant really be argued in the point about songs portraying women as sex objects, that whole argument when it comes to this song should be discarded as a women is 50% responsible for writing it. Secondly, the idea for the song came up due to Connolly's jealousy when it comes to how guys hit on his wife in public all the time (yeah look her up, Canadian actress, she's beautiful). Why's this relevant? Well first it shows that Connolly doesnt just have a huge sex drive going and is just expressing himself in a vulgar manner. Plus his wife falls under the type of women who are portrayed as sex objects by the media, and as a writer of the song, she seems to be ok with the lyrics and all. And finally, at the very least when this song is played on the radio, it is heavily censored. "My girlfriend's, a **** magnet," "No one really knows if she's drunk or if she's ******," "She likes to shake her ***" so you see, its not like they let the song go uncensored, after the edit, this is no worse than what you can find in the mainstream media anywhere else at anytime.

If they have a song that's gonna be their "Rockstar", it's "Hate My Life". "So sick of the hobos always begging for change I don't like how I gotta work and And they just sit around and get paid" "I hate that I can't tell when a girl's underage, You know, I tell her she's a nice piece of ass, Then her daddy punches me in the face" So bad it's actually quite humorous.
