I honestly think Halo's performance will look something like this: H100: #1 (8-12 weeks) CHR: #1 (8 weeks) Urban: #1 (2 weeks) (I know it will crossover there despite Diva) Rhythmic: #1 (6-8 weeks) HAC: #1 (4-6 weeks) AC: #1 (4-6 weeks) Digital sales: 3 to 3.5 million in the long run Those expectations are way too high. Especially considering how the reception isn't anything like that of 'Bleeding Love' or 'Apologize' or 'We Belong Together'. I wouldn't be surprised if this hit #1 on most of the above mentioned charts, but it will not stay there for nearly as long as you're expecting. I doubt an AC crossover too. If IIWAB couldn't, I don't see this doing it. I think IIWAB is crossed over to AC format now. 12/30/2008 AC: 81 (+49)

I hope to God it doesn't stay number one for that long. Halo is decent but it also has a heavy burn factor and hopefully the numbers will prove that Halo burns pretty fast after an obscene amount of listens. Also this song is no where near the same quality as We Belong Together, Bleeding Love, Apologize and many of the other songs that it is being compared to. The song is decent and overall a nicely packaged song, but lets not go overboard. No burn rate for me! Played over 500 times!

Didn't most Beyonce hoodrat fans peg IIWAB to be a MEGA-SMASH and it was a MEGA-FLOP. Did it even reach Top 10 on Pop? HALO will do decent on Pop but its not that good like Britney's #1 SMASH WOMANIZER!

I hope to God it doesn't stay number one for that long. May be true for some but definitely not for all. I have listened to it over 140 times so far and it has yet to burn, even in the slightest. Also, assuming your speaking from personal experience, don't you have to generally like a song in order to eventually burn on it? My exact thoughts on quite a few popular songs released at the moment.

i dont see this making it to #1 because of all of this aura around it with fans thinking its the best and everything. Rarely do songs that are the "best" on the album meet expectations. Usually, we end up talking about how it "should have" been huge but was not. Ive listened and I dont see the hype around it. Its a great ballad but unless it clicks on radio it could fail to meet these high expectations. Thats not to discredit it as a song but lets discuss things relatively. I dont think this will hit #1 on pop radio and if it does it wont be there long.

And comparing WMNZR with Halo makes no sense. Two completely different songs.

^Obviously they are completely different. That is the point of comparing. They are both singles competing on CHR. That makes them comparable and makes perfect sense.

Usually, when things are being compared, they have something in common with one another. At least in the world I'm living in. I think it'd be way easier for a song like WMNZR to go #1 on CHR than it would 'Halo', but that's not to say it won't. That's just my opinion. I just don't see why bringing WMNZR going #1 up and calling Beyonce fans "hoodrats" was appropriate to the conversation.

^I just gave you one thing they have in common so looks like we are residing in the same world. They are both CHR songs. Are they not? O, they are...so they can be compared according to both of us which according to you makes sense.

The attitude isn't needed.

^What attitude are you detecting? It's through text. I could imply the same thing about your posts but I choose not to because I focus on what is being said instead of something as trivial as conception of it. If you acknowledged that, then good, we agree. Im just wondering why you said they should not be compared.

She needs to STOP trying to go Sarah McChalancan or whoever on the Pop format! America wants them Bey's ghetto, silly, bouncy songs as the success of SINGLE LADIES is showing us.
I will SLAP Bey if she releases SATELLITES to Pop or even AC!!! That song is BEYOND BORING, already deleted from my iPod.

Why are there even IIWAB comparisons to this? ??? IIWAB was a good, but very ordinary song, and anyone who expected it to be some mega smash was just setting themselves up for disappointment. IIWAB did great for what kind of song it was, I expected it to do quite a bit worse. Halo on the other hand, as I've said has too much hit potential to be stopped, and the cross format appeal on it is insane. That's why I have such high expectations, and I fully stand by them. Heck I think may be undershooting it a bit.

Heck I think may be undershooting it a bit. Well, that's the beauty of an opinion. IIWAB is one of my favorite releases of 2008 and in my top Beyonce songs of all-time. I thought it was really different for her and for R&B as a whole. I can't name any Mariah or Rihanna songs like it. I expected it to be the hit it was. On the other hand, I think 'Halo' is boring, dull, and overrated. It sounds like any other Ryan Tedder ballad. What sets it apart from his other ballads? If anything, 'Halo' doesn't hold a candle to his other songs. Of course, that is all my opinion.

If you look at the whole chart, you'll see just about EVERYTHING is up as they flip from Christmas music back to regular programming. It might well be that that's the level of airplay expected of the song at this time, and that doesn't mean it'll go much higher.

I hope Halo is her next #1. So relieved to see this instead of Diva. I hope Sweet Dreams is her next pop single!

You can't deny that she's as successful as Beyonce. But that's not to say Halo still won't be a monster huge smash!

I love Halo and think it will be a smash. I don't think it will hold it back at all, but IMO, the video is really bad.

lol at all the drama in this thread. I'd rather just see how this song plays out then get worked up over a prediction, whether good or bad, cuz in the end only time will tell how well this song performs.
