Teairra Mari has become the proud owner of some shiny new “Diamonds” that were once worn by Christina Milian, Rap-Up.com can exclusively confirm. The 21-year-old R&B vixen has acquired “Diamonds,” a track previously recorded by Milian for her fourth album Dream in Color. The album cut was redone with Mari’s vocals and will now be included on her sophomore effort At That Point. The song features a rap by Kanye West. Milian released the Madd Scientist production after signing with The-Dream’s Radio Killa Records and re-recording her project under the title Elope. “I wanna love ya, just like I love my diamonds / And when I wear you out at night, then we be shinin’,” Roc-A-Fella’s former “Diamond” girl sings over the sparkly beat. “I treasure you, cherish you, I’ll wear you on my body / ’Cause we go together, diamonds are forever.” www.rap-up.com/2009/04/14/teairra-mari-inherits-christina-milians-diamonds/

I can't believe Christina would give up every record for the Dream to do the album, that is just crazy but I'm sure Teairra put her spin on it

I do not like "Diamonds" at all. It is so cheesy. It is typical Christina for me. I am glad Dream told her to give it away.

There's something about CM's voice that fits "Diamonds" better. Teairra's isn't bad at all, but her voice seems to more or less just blend into the background.

The video was nice. I don't like the video edit of the song, however.

Well I was in a live video chat with Teairra today, and it turns out that the rumours are not only true, but a lot worse than anybody originally throught. Now this is a really long and complicated story so ya'll will need to read carefully and keep up. After Christina Milian was dropped from Def Jam in 2006 after her third album "So Amazin'" bombed in the charts, the singer inked a new deal with MySpace Records. According to Teairra "nobody wanted to f*** with Christina" after her Def Jam departure, but MySpace went out on a limb and started investing a lot of time and money into her "Dream In Color" project. Unfortunately for them though Christina met producer The-Dream, and shortly after recording together the two formed a romantic relationship and Christina high tailed it out of MySpace with barely a words notice, instead choosing to sign with The-Dreams Radio Killa Records. MySpace were understandably a little upset after taking a chance on the "Dip It Low" diva when nobody else would, but since Christina didn't pay for or own any of her recordings so the label kept the tracks to give to other artists. Luckily for Teairra who was friends with the person who had helped get Christina signed, they sent her over "Diamonds" and she loved it, immediatly recording her own version for her sophomore album "At That Point". A little while later the song leaked online and received fantastic feedback, so Teairra and her label decided to go with it as the follow-up single to "Cause A Scene" featuring Flo-Rida. Well Well Christina wasn't happy when she heard about it, and started kicking up a fuss behind the scenes to get Teairra to drop the song, even though Christina herself didn't own the track and had never paid for it in the first place. Kanye West (who is close friends with both The-Dream and Christina Milian) then got back to Teairra and tried to charge her 200k to shoot the video. Teairra said she couldn't afford 200k for his appearance fee, and according to her, Christina Milian used her relationship with The-Dream to convince Kanye to put the price up on the video so she wouldn't be able to afford it and release it. Shortly after the drama went down Christina's own version of "Diamonds" conveniently leaked online. Teairra also added that she understood that Kanye's price would be high because of who he is, but that she half expected him to cut her some slack since the two had been "cool with each other" when she was signed to Def Jam, and that herself being a struggling artist thought that Kanye would've helped her out since he was once in the same position, rather then letting somebody else influence his decision. She also implied that Kanye had never treated her the same since she was dropped from Def Jam. hiphop-prophet.blogspot.com/

She did another live chat tonight and previewed several songs from the album:
Deja Vu Emergency Lucky Shower Scene Lights Go Down Operator Automatic The Truth Holla
She also said the album was about 70-75% done but was still on schedule to drop in July.

The wonderful Teairra Mari was kind enough today to give an exclusive listening party of her new album "At That Point" to her fans via Twitter/Ustream, and luckily for you guys ya boy The Prophet was there to give you all the goss! All together Teairra played about 9 songs from "At That Point", which she estimates is about 75% completed. Four of the songs "The Truth", "Holla", "Automatic", and "I Know It's You (Deja Vu)" we've already heard before, so I'll just review the brand new tracks. First up is the Rico Love produced "Lucky", which was a fun sounding R&B mid-tempo which saw Teairra challenging a guy to step up if he planned to get lucky with her. "I wanna see if you can put it down... Baby Imma give it to you" sung Teairra on the hook in a playful way over some plinky keyboard, always making sure to keep things cute so the racy lyrics never came across as sleazy. The hook was really catchy to, "Keep doin' that, doin' doin' that, and you might just get lucky", especially when she repeats "doin' doin'." Next was the erotic "Shower Scene", which was was produced by DJ Clue who was responsible for Mariah Carey's smash hit "Heartbreaker". This was a great tune, but the material during the listening session was so strong that the general consensus ranked this as the least favourite. It was a very sexual, old school urban mid-tempo about Teairra Mari wanting to get her man in the shower. "We can hit the shower scene, we can make it hot, show me what you got." It was definitely something to put on if you wanna get serious in the bedroom! Now where "Shower Scene" was all about being sexual, the next track "Lights Go Down" was all about the sensual. This was just a beautiful laid back and romantic love making song which really saw Teairra singing and using her falsetto. The vocals were very passionate, with Teairra singing "Blow out the candles, boy it's just me you and the radio, there's no other place you need to be right now than here with me." The whole track stayed classy and never once got too sexual. "We both ain't got nowhere to go, turn off ya phone... I need you to tell me that you want it when the lights go down..." Next up was my absolute favourite "Operator", which Teairra herself described as a "Roller skating song". "My baby won't pick up the telephone/So I said "hello operator, can you put my baby on the line? Coz I really wanna spend some time."" This was just super fun, super happy, the type of cute song to put a smile on your face. It sounded old school, but in more of a synth-pop type of way. Rico Love produced it as well, so think of Michelle Williams "Unexpected" album, but more urban, more eighties, and a 100x better. Last but definitely not least was "Emergency", which once again saw Teairra using her powerful pipes to sing about a love emergency . This was the type of song you'd hear Monica singing, it was just some real straight up old school R&B with actual SINGING! hiphop-prophet.blogspot.com/

It did get added to the Urban station here for a while, but I never heard it get played before they took it off it's request list. I don't know if it's her label's fault, or if radio just isn't embracing her this time around, but that's three singles ("No No No", "Hunt 4 U", and "Cause a Scene") attempted so far.

This project seems to be dead. No promotion, no spins, no charting, and no anticipation for it. I think she should go do a couple of movies or something to get some form of hype for herself.

I hope that release date sticks.
Are they gonna try another single, or re-release "Hunt 4 U" (since it never went for an adds date) or fully push "Cause a Scene"?
