Billboard.com:
Rascal Flatts Sets Date For Sixth Album January 08, 2009
by Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Rascal Flatts' sixth album, "Unstoppable," will be released April 7 by Lyric Street. As of yet there are no details about the first single or track list. The set was co-produced by the band with Dann Huff.
"Unstoppable" is the follow-up to 2007's "Still Feels Good," which has sold 2.2 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It recently generated the group's ninth No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart with "Here."
Fans can stay up to date on new album details by texting RASCALFLATTS to 66937, or by visiting the newly launched site Newrfcd.com.
They also have a chance to design the new album's cover through a contest with the People's Choice Awards. Submisions will be accepted through Jan. 22 at PCAvote.com. On Jan. 28, the band will choose finalists and present them to fans to vote on a winner, which will be unveiled in February.
Rascal Flatts is on the road in North American through the end of January and will perform next Jan. 17 in Kansas City, Mo.

Rascal Flatts
"Unstoppable" (Lyric Street, April 7)
There aren't any details or even a first single available yet for the sixth album from this country superstar trio, but with longtime producer Dann Huff back onboard, it's a safe bet there will be hits aplenty. In fact, the group's last album, 2007's "Still Feels Good," is still generating chart-toppers: "Here" recently became Rascal Flatts' ninth No. 1 on Hot Country Songs.

A great review from last night's show in Kansas City. backtorockville.typepad.com/back_to_rockville/2009/01/review-rascal-flatts.htmlBy all standards, this was a big show. The crowd was big. The stage was big. The visuals were spectacular. Even the opening act brought an extra dose of star power. Rascal Flatts is one of the biggest acts in country music, and like other big acts in country music (Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift), its popularity has a lot do with its mainstream sound, which bears little resemblance to country music. Saturday night, Rascal Flatts opened the 2009 leg of its Bob That Head Tour at Sprint Center. It was the trio's second show at Sprint Center in about 15 months, and like that show, this one was a near sell-out. (It looked like there were fewer than 1,000 empty seats.) That big crowd was treated to a high-energy spectacle. The stage included runways and stairs that extended into the seats on the floor. All night the two-story video towers behind the band displayed all kinds of light and visual effects, including an impressive animation skit near the end of the show. During the encore, a blizzard of confetti and balloons rained on fans in the lower sections and on the floor, which incldued a general-admission section at the back. The show lasted nearly two hours and the setlist was loaded with hits and familiar tracks pulled from a discography that goes back to 2000. Their fans -- men, women, boys, girls, young adults, elderly couples -- sang-along and swayed to those songs all night. The boys -- Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney -- rely on a familiar, predictable formula, but it's a formula that remains fail-proof and keeps them on top of the country radio charts. It has also made them one of the most successful touring acts of the past few years. They also live by country music's first commandment: Respect your audience. So they expressed plenty of down-home love to their fans. The Flatts' music is non-denominational pop -- songs with roots in rock, pop and even a little pop-R&B. On "Bless The Broken Road," they sounded like a mix of the Backstreet Boys and Boyz II Men. Most of those songs are sculpted and polished for a mainstream, crossover crowd that prefers sugar to spice. Some of those songs are smart and well-crafted; some are cliched and overly sentimental. Either way, their fans eat it all up. So the mood in the arena was bright and upbeat all night, from the explosive opener, "Still Feels Good," to the raucous closer, "Bob That Head." This spring, the Flatts will release an album they're calling "Unstoppable." Expect it to do well in stores and on the radio charts. And don't be surprised if they come back to town before the year's over and nearly fill an arena or amphitheater near you. They are that big. Jessica Simpson: She opened the show with a set that included "Remember That," the single off the country album she released last year. She has a big voice that carried itself across the arena, but her 40-minute set was pleasant at best. An act like hers seems better suited for smaller rooms.

In terms of hits, they are unstoppable, indeed. But the quality of their releases have been rapidly going downhill. "Bob That Head" was probably the single worst song of the last few years. It's a shame, cause they used to be quite good.

From CMT
Rascal Flatts have partnered with the J.C. Penney department store chain for sponsorship of their upcoming concerts to be billed as the Rascal Flatts American Living Unstoppable Tour. The tour will promote American Living, a line of merchandise developed for the retailer by Polo Ralph Lauren's Global Brand Concepts. The two-year sponsorship begins when the trio's summer tour begins on June 5. In conjunction with the tour, Rascal Flatts have written "American Living," a new song inspired by the brand. The song will be featured in commercials and will be available only at J.C. Penney stores on a special version of the band's Unstoppable CD. Net proceeds from the sale of those CDs will be donated to the J.C. Penney Afterschool Fund, which provides children in need with access to afterschool programs. As part of the sponsorship, the three band members -- Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney -- will wear American Living clothing during their concerts. The American Living commercial, as well as behind-the-scenes footage from the filming of the commercial, will run on two large side-stage screens during the concerts. The band's fleet of semi trucks and the J.C Penney tour bus will feature imagery of the brand. Unstoppable will be released nationally on April 7, the same day J.C. Penney begins selling its special version of the album.

They will be on the Ellen show March 12th. Jay said they will be performing a NEW song & doing a skit with Ellen. That should be entertaining.

Hi! I just got very interested with Rascal Flatts lately. I'm not an avid fan of country music, but their rendition of "WHAT HURTS THE MOST" really make me hook up with the band and I'm starting to like other country music artist such as Little Big Town and Taylor Swift. Could you please give me some recommended hits of RF to be downloaded on my iPod? thanks.

Any guesses as to what the next single will be? My bet is on "Love Who You Love." Although I would love for Why, Close, or Unstoppable" to be the next single.

I also believe that "Love Who You Love" will be next. I don't care that much for Why and Close, but Unstoppable could be a good choice for closing this era. The sad thing is I'm not that impressed with this album as much as their past albums like Feels Like Today and Me & My Gang. Shoot, Still Feels Good was a decent enough album for me and I got a little pissed with some of the single choices from that era; besides, even the title track from that album would've been an easy Top 5 for them as well as No Reins. What's your take on this?

Feels Like Today is my favorite album of RF's. Every single from that era was strong. I've also felt that some of their single choices have been questionable. *Cough* Bob That Head. Still Feels Good album had alot of songs that should of been released. Like you mentioned No Reins, it would of been a HUGE hit, or Still Feels Good..

Still Feels Good album had alot of songs that should of been released. Like you mentioned No Reins, it would of been a HUGE hit, or Still Feels Good.. Sorry, I didn't mean to give you the impression that I do not like this album; I do like it; it's just that, from my perspective, although they had more time to work with this, I have a feeling that there are much stronger songs than this for them out there. Although, I don't own the album currently, I do know what every song sounds like. "Love Who You Love" took a while for me to appreciate, but I currently wouldn't be surprised if this is the next single. It's totally unique for RF. "Here Comes Goodbye" is a good song and not a bad choice for lead single, but just a tad melodramatic for me. Unfortunately, I do agree with some of the critics that say that HCG is somewhat a rehash of "What Hurts the Most." I'm starting to get concerned and may not continue being a fan of RF if they continue rehashing past singles for the rest of their career since the single before HCG, "Here," was another rehash of "Bless the Broken Road." This is all I have to say for now. "Close" is an OK song, but not outstanding enough for me to enjoy it a lot. The chorus took a long time for me to get used to. "Forever" is also an OK song for me, but ala HCG, a little too dramatic for me. I won't mind if this gets released because it is, in a way, unique for RF, but I won't expect it to go Top 5 on the country charts. "She'd Be California" is a fun, upbeat song for them, but most definitely would not work as a single. A song like this might be what's bringing the album excitement down for me as it is a little too bland and I believe that they didn't want a song like this on their record, but went for it anyway. You are 100% free to disagree, but I would be embarrassed if I had a song like that on my record. "Unstoppable" is a decent song for me and I won't mind if it becomes a single in 2010; it'll sound better then, too. Won't mind this going Top 5. "Things That Matter" is another song that brings down the album excitement for me (Hard to impress, huh?). The melodies were pretty weak upon first listen, but the lyrics are something to think about. Why this was released during the RF Countdown on iTunes, I have no stinkin' clue. "Summer Nights" is another fun song, but is one to look forward to unlike SBC. Although a rehash of the quickly-pulled-from-radio "Bob That Head," this is a much safer alternative to BTH. The melodies are also stronger, too. "Holdin' On" is a kinda bland track for this album and also keeps the album excitement factor down for me. I'm sure that it'll take a while for me to get used to. I'll also recommend that this does not get released as a single. "Once" and "Why" are a pretty good midtempo country-pop track and soft ballad, respectively. However, I personally believe that these two songs are getting a little too much praise. I'm glad that people like these tracks, but the claims about them becoming future singles is just a little too much for me. If they are fan favorites, that's cool. I won't mind if "Once" is released, but may get uncomfortable if "Why" is released. Sorry for making you read so much. Although there are other things that I have to say about this record, I'll leave it at this for now. What's your take on this collection of songs? Like I said a while ago, you are completely free to disagree with me (I don't guarantee that I won't be mad, but I will guarantee to understand your opinion. They're opinions after all, right?).

^ I respect your interpretations of the songs, they are very in depth.:) I will give you a take on mine later on. I did get a survey email about "future single consideration." They are considering Love Who You Love, Why, and Once.

It's disappointing they chose "Unstoppable" to close out this album. I still think Close, Once, or Love Who You Love would of been big hits for this era..
