I don't think this is going to repeat the success of Back Then, and I don't enjoy it even as much as say Mr. Jones from a couple years ago, but a few stations are starting to pick it up, so maybe he won't end up a one-hit wonder.

He's been trying so hard to get a hit since Back Then. He got two decent ones in a row in the last six months. Hopefully Asylum has the album ready when this peaks.

I think this is already his highest peaking pop single.

How high did Back Then go? My CHR (it does lean rhythmic) played Back Then repeatedly and even used it as a recurrent for awhile. (They also played Mr. Jones fwiw).

His debut album went platinum. Strange seeing as how apparently he didn't have any pop hits. I guess Back Then must have been really big on rhythmic.

No, he just said his name a lot and got the word out over the years. I read somewhere a few years ago that nearly half of those 'Who Is Mike Jones?' sales came from his home state of Texas, where he has (or had) a huge fan following.

Nobody likes him here anymore. He's considered a sellout and a horribly weak lyricist. That's why he needs a crossover hit like this to promote his new project. Rhythmic and Urban has rejected anything by him lately that's not a love or club jam.

Minor Scratch... true fans never quit Tippin'. You may forget about him now, but once his new joint blows up big, you're going to remember the name. As Mike Jones himself once said, "Before my paper came, before I got my fame These hoes that's popping on me now didn't even know my name They said my flow was lame, they said I had no game I told 'em all I was fin' to blow they thought I was insane But then my name started blowing up quick, now they jumping on my d***"
Catch the wave, Mr. Jones is back, "The Voice" is the album of '09 buddy.

Rhythmic and Urban has rejected anything by him lately that's not a love or club jam. It has to do more with label promo than anything. He's at #12 in Rhythmic now. And to get Urban play the artist needs good promo. And now days barely anyone gets play in Urban radio if it isn't a love or club jam unless they have good promo (Lil Wayne, TI and a few others) A lot of times now a hit becomes big in Rhythmic and Mainstream and then makes it way to being a hit in Urban.

Its true. The label did a great job at certifying that he did have another hit. They've been working at it for 3 years now. I'm just saying his hits won't be anything like the ones off "Who Is Mike Jones?, which is the type of music that made him popular here in Texas, and helped his debut go Platinum. He will need the strong promo of radio and club jams to keep him successful. As does the rest of the rappers from Houston who were big in 2005.

52 51 MIKE JONES Next To You Ice Age/Asylum 474 394 80 1.805
Should go top 50 with John Legend and Theory of a Deadman falling and hopefully a few recurrents leaving the chart.
I know. Why'd it take so damn long to get another hit. My CHR (Colorado Springs) was spinning Mr. Jones 35 times a week. I can't believe that song didn't take off. My 64 was really good, and it had ol Snoop on it. Turnin' Headz was fun. Drop and Gimme 50 and Cuddy Buddy were both subpar but still, I can't believe it has taken this long to get another hit. Still Tippin' was so big and Back Then was a slow-burner on my CHR. Then again, the whole H-Town scene has been struggling (which is fine ever since Chamillionaire started dissin Mike Jones, I've been down on H-Town.)

That is why some artists get all the airplay in the world while some cant even get a litttle.

Passed ALTNOY yesterday to surge into the top 48. Hopefully this will pull a Gives You Hell and launch a mercurial rise to the top 10 any day now.

Blowing up big! The bullet is rising. Mike Jones is about to blow up big. They better delay the next single "Swagger Thru The Roof" so that this one has time to play out fully.

Yeah, I am VERY surprised this is even top 50. Was this sent for adds or did it just cross over?

I don't think this went for adds. You just can't stop a song this good.

LOL damn, I didn't know Mike Jones was still releasing singles. He's been trying to put this album out for like 3 years but he has no buzz.
