I haven't gone through to read the entire thread, but would anyone want to see "Impossible" as a single? "Impossible" is one of my favorites on the album- but I really hate the intro on it- I think the song is too 80's to be a hit single- but it's the production- melody, lyrics, and singing are solid on it.

I think "Impossible" is the weakest song on the album. The versus are kinda awkward tune-wise... and then the chorus is underwhelming. Plus her vocals and the music have the same tune in the chorus so its no fun.

I've grown to really love and appreciate Impossible; I don't really see it being a good single choice though.

I'm really surprised this didn't at least go Top 5 on CHR, even moreso considering the weak competition right now. I mean Miley, Shinedown and 3OH3 outpeaked Kelly Clarkson on Pop?

I think Miley, Shinedown, and 3OH3 all released songs that connected a lot better than Hook Up.

Those 3 are better songs too in my opinion. (vocals aside, for 'The Climb')

I think the shinedown is better, but the other IMO are not even close.

Some more thoughts... I think people are skipping over this. It's a bit too generic and doesn't really stay with you. I love it when I listen to it and enjoy hearing it, but never really go straight to it or anything when I listen to her which is where the download problem may be. It clearly has little to no staying power. That coupled with the fact MLWSWY has a resurgence when IDNHU was attempting to climb and Kelly keeps talking about AG being the next single (not to mention performing it). It's just kind of... faded into the background.

Maybe most people now WANT "to hook up." The Katy/Kara connection was a distraction to the song, not a plus. When I started to love the song, it did enter the back of my head I was making myself listen to it and knew the risk that most people might not give it the repreated chances that I did (though it paid off for me personally because I really do like it)

as ive said many x I think its a really good song, but maybe as more of an album track. DLMSY or AG should have been the 2nd single! Much as I love AIEW, I agree w/ many that US radio probably wouldnt touch it -- its just not pop radio mainstream enough.

Yeah because INDHU getting to #8 on CHR/POP and #20 on the Hot100 is really doing NOTHING for the next single. Nope, not really. I would think even the craziest Kelly fan would admit that this is not giving a roaring amount of momentum that will make the next single fly top 10. Of course IDNHU isn't currently going to be giving a "roaring amount" of momentum for the next single. Did I ever say that? Absolutely not. I was responding to the post where they said INDHU wasn't giving "ANY momentum" to the next single. That is simply not true. Radio embraced the song enough to send it to #8, it isn't as if they refused to play the song at all because then I would certainly expect the next single to have a REALLY hard time. Look at Sober coming off of Never Again, for instance. IDNHU is in a better place and isn't going to hurt the next single by taking away any momentum.

We will agree to disagree then-I don't think it will have momentum and you think it will. We will see how quickly it flies top 20.

Have you guys ever thought that this album and single aren't doing well because they both suck? Plain and simple. Each and every song on the album is generic trash.

I strongly disagree- I think this album is GREAT. I'm no fanboy as some will attest- frankly, i thought "My DEcember" was weak with only a few good songs- "Sober, "Hole and "How I Feel." The rest i thought were pretty bad, so I'm not under kelly Clarkson's spell in that regard- but this album is REALLY REALLY good. I play it all the time-

I think the album is good. I really don't think the quality of the album is the reason it is under-performing.

I think this song deserved at least a top five placement on the Hot 100 and CHR pop. I thought it was a worthy follow-up to "My Life Would Suck Without You" and had the makings of a big hit.
I think it's definitely time for the next single though. Despite the decent performance of this single, it just wasn't selling the album and I found that puzzling. It was slightly different for Kelly, but I still thought it fit her sound and image well- maybe her hardcore fans didn't feel the same way?
I think "Already Gone" could be a good song to help boost the album back in the 20s or so, and then "Don't Let Me Stop You" could stabilize sales.

Image issues+second single not connecting at all+possible misinterpretation of what people really want from her+recovering from MD+combined with image issues a bunch of other pop starlets taking over.

Very well said LPL, I think you hit the nail on the head. It's a combination of things. Wasn't a flop, but not a smash hit either. All things considered, it could have been much worse.

Harcore fans already had/have the album so no matter ho we felt about IDNHU, to me the general public didn't connect since they are who would keep the album selling, not the core of her fans.
