I'm predicting Carrie Underwood will get another nomination probably for Female Country Vocal Performance and Taylor Swift will probably get one for White Horse.

I can see Fearless being nominated for Album of the Year. :)
& I'm sure Nickelback will be nominated in one of the Rock Categories.

Fearless the Taylor Swift album? It's good, but I doubt it will be nominated for AOTY.

I don't see how Fearless being nominated for Album Of The Year would be "pushing" it. Albums that weren't necessarily expected have been nominated for that particular award many times before (Year Of The Gentleman, Love.Angel.Music.Baby, Under Construction, Justified, Fanmail just to name a few). It would definitely upset a few people here though! LOL

It's going to be the biggest seller this year it has to be nominated.

AOTY - Fearless
Rightfully so, may I add.
Female Country Vocal - Carrie Underwood Just A Dream Country Collaboration - Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis - I Told You So
Both also deserved.

I would rather see Carrie get a vocal nod for I Told You So. Though personally I don't like the song her performance is undeniably amazing.

I can see Fearless being nominated for Album of the Year. :) I agree. Putting the question of whether it deserves the nomination aside, it is a well-reviewed album that crossed genres and sold exceptionally well. And in the General field, it won't need to make the top-5 in NARAS votes. It will only need to make the top-20 (which it will) before the blue ribbon panel selects the five nominees. While Taylor hasn't previously garnered enough support in the Country field to score any nominations there, the blue ribbon panel did think enough of her to nominate her for Best New Artist a couple of years back. This is the same blue ribbon panel that also nominated the Jonas Brothers for Best New Artist this year. If nothing else, that suggests that the blue ribbon panel is willing to acknowledge teen-oriented acts in the General field. OK, it's a bit of a jump from the Best New Artist category to the Album of the Year category, but the blue ribbon panel has shown a history of liking young female ingenues. Moreover, I think there will be continued demo-based pressure on the blue ribbon panel to nominate acts that appeal to teenagers, for the sake of ratings and buzz. After all, the degree to which they are driving the market is becoming more and more accepted. I wouldn't currently give Taylor much shot at winning the category, seeing as NARAS voters don't seem to care for teenage fare. But I think a nomination is quite possible, and even likely, as long as the blue ribbon panel doesn't think it's too early in her career. Even if the blue ribbon panel does think it is too early, "Love Story" is still a very good bet for a Record of the Year nomination -- I'm pretty sure it is still eligible there, because I don't think it was submitted for RotY last year (could be wrong; it was definitely submitted in the Country field). I'll also be interested to see what happens with Taylor in the Country field. Like I said, she hasn't scored a single nomination in the Country field in the past. I firmly believe that if Fearless were submitted in the Pop field, it would not only be a lock for a nomination but it would be the frontrunner for the Best Pop Album win. Several of its most high-profile good reviews ( Rolling Stone, All Music Guide, the New Yorker, I believe) classify it as a pop album. Meanwhile, NARAS Country field voters tend to go for more traditional fare (witness Sugarland's really well-reviewed Love on the Inside missing out on a Best Country Album nod this past Grammy season). If Fearless does get nominated in the Country field, it will need the support of non-country voters to have a shot at winning. Looking at the Best Country Album category, Lee Ann Womack already scored a Female Country Vocal Performance nod this past season over Taylor, and her well-reviewed Call Me Crazy will be eligible for a nomination. The most recent Best Country Album winner George Strait is likely to release an album in the eligibility period, and Brad Paisley will have American Saturday Night out in the eligibility period, as well. If Reba gets her album out on 18 August as is currently rumored, she might have a shot (although I would expect Big Machine/Valory to push Taylor over Reba). Keith Urban may be in the running, although I'm inclined to think his album won't make the cut. Ditto Martina McBride and Kenny Chesney. I don't expect Rascal Flatts to contend in the category; they are neither critical nor Grammy favorites. Josh Turner is a previous nominee for Best Country Album, and if he gets his album out in time and gathers enough momentum, he stands a solid shot at a nomination, since he is a traditionalist darling. Dierks Bentley is also a previous Best Country Album nominee, so Feel That Fire might stand a pretty good shot at getting nominated. I suppose Zac Brown Band might stand a chance at a nomination here, too. At the moment, Country Album doesn't strike me as the most crowded of fields, but there could be an unexpected bluegrass or super-traditional country nomination that comes somewhat out of left field.

If Fearless does get nominated in the Country field, it will need the support of non-country voters to have a shot at winning. Which is pretty sad.

Rock Vocal by a Duo or a Group: U2 vs. Green Day...reception hasn't been as strong for U2 this time around although they are THE grammy champs for this decade. Can Green Day take the win after Vertigo beat American Idiot in this category? After the lack of buzz for NLOTH, I have a feeling Green Day would dominate this time around. Count them in too for the general categories. They'll be what Coldplay was at the last Grammys.

Here's an idea for a BNA contender: Susan Boyle.

Especially now as DNN is growing, I think Kid Cudi is a major contender for a BNA nod.
Will Kanye be up for AOTY? IMO, it's his best album but it's also his most polarizing. So far, it's the best album of the year for me.
I hope K'Naan can break through to the rap or urban/alt categories. Wavin Flag, Bang Bang & If Rap Gets Jealous are all great. Rap should be interesting with Eminem, Kanye(?), Jay-Z & Lupe. Is Lil' Wayne going to have a rap album by the end of August?

I still can't believe that Vertigo won over American Idiot :'( I don't want to see that horrible "Get On Your Boots" wining rock song & group and General Field categories (record & song of the year) >:(

HITS:
GOODBYE, JIMMY STURR—WE’LL MISS YOU: The Recording Academy has fiddled around with the Grammy categories, because it can. The Folk Field, which has been renamed American Roots Music, will incorporate the Best Traditional Blues Album, Best Contemporary Blues Album and Best Bluegrass Album categories. Best Contemporary Folk/Americana has been split into two categories: Best Contemporary Folk Album and Best Americana Album. In the Latin Field, the Best Latin Urban Album will now be combined with Latin Rock or Alternative into Best Latin Rock, Alternative or Urban Album. In the most shocking move of all—brace yourselves, kiddies—the Board of Trustees has eliminated the Best Polka Album category. These moves bring the total number of categories to 109. (6/3a)

I still wish they would include a Best Pop Song category. It doesn't make sense that every other genre has that category except for Pop.

Does anyone think The Fame by Lady GaGa could get nominated? It's probably the best album I have heard this year.

^ I wouldn't be surprised. Poker Face should get some sort of nomination or even Paparazzi.

Green Day, Kanye, Eminem, U2...I don't think all 4 can fit into AOTY, I'm hoping it's Kanye & Green Day that make it in. I also think BEP will be big contenders for AOTY.
Rap is getting a little more exciting with Flo Rida, Kanye, Eminem, Drake & Kid Cudi.

I think Bey will see multiple nominations for IASF and a number of the singles. She's a Grammy darling and the album and it's singles have been smash successes worldwide.

Here's my predictions-
Album of the year: 808s and Heartbreak Fearless Relapse 21st Century Breakdown No Line On The Horizon
Record of The Year: Poker Face 21 Guns Heartless Boom Boom Pow Hot N Cold
Song of the Year: So What Don't Trust Me Halo 1,2,3,4 Heartless
Best New Artist is getting tougher every year becuase it is hard for new artists to come out and make an impact with the current album sales. If Lady GaGa is eligible she could win. Maybe Drake? IDK.
