Reviews don't mean anything lol and the reviews are not THAT much better either.
U2 has a 72% with 30 reviews
DMB has a 67% with 15 reviews
Plus many stated that DMB had their best album of their career / decade while the U2 one was just typical and boring. I love both bands, but this was by far the worst U2 of the decade. Their last 2 were amazing

Obviously an album with a 20% compared to 72% sure. but 67% and 72% is nothing at all. I believe someone said upthread that last year's Grammys had about 20 performers. So, there should be about 12 more slots. Two of those should go to Kings of Leon and Lady Gaga, since that would ensure that all the nominees for Album of the Year, Song of the Year or Record of the Year get to perform. Maybe add in Keri Hilson for a second New Artist nominee (I don't think they usually run all the New Artist nominees out there). That would be a balanced roster - 2 pop acts (Gaga, P!nk), 2 R&B (Beyonce, Keri), 2 hip-hop (BEP, Maxwell), 2 rock (KoL, DMB), 3 country (Taylor, Lady A, ZBB) - with 9 open slots to be filled by people who are not nominated for any of the major awards.

Last year they had 5/6 country performances, and there are only 3 so far. So I think Keith Urban might be added, and Carrie Underwood has an outside shot as well. However, since Carrie performed 3 years in a row now, she might just present this year.
There are 10 slots filled now, 10 more to go approximately.
One will be a Michael Jackson tribute, no doubt.
I think one will be Rap--- Eminem.
One will be Jay-Z, Kanye and Rihanna doing Run This Town I bet.
One will be a tribute performance to some other act.
There will be at least one more country performance, maybe 2.
Kings of Leon should be added. They are big nominees.
So: I predict the remaining slots will be:
Eminem Kings of Leon maybe Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye-- Run This Town collab Michael Jackson tribute Keith Urban Carrie Underwood (maybe) Kelly Clarkson? Random tribute number Keri Hilson?

I think that alone will almost guarantee them a rock album win couple that with better reviews (even though it is only 5%, they are still better reviews). Had U2 been nominated in AOTY would you have picked them to win it? I probably would have picked them just because of who they are and their grammy history, but since they aren't there, I think this was Taylor's biggest grammy present (sort of like the present they gave Jennifer Hudson last year by omitting the much stronger 12 winner keys in R&B album). It'll be far easier for her or anyone to win in AOTY without the presense of U2 there. DMB has one grammy to their name and some acts never win one so they usually don't care if you only have one and they have no problem awarding others with dozens upon dozens.

Ugh. "Run This Town" is so done and dry. Hopefully, Jay-Z performs his new single, "On to the Next One," if he even gets a slot.
Performance slots mean little. Jonas Brothers performed last year, and everyone used that logic that they were going to win BNA, but Adele was added and won. Let's see who else gets added. I'm sure we have about 50 other performers coming.

I P!ink is VERY underrated. I'm not sure if she just has fans who don't come online or what but I'm happy to see her at least performing. I don't think she won either, I pick BEP's for album and Taylor for Pop Vocal (or Beyonce). agree that Pink is very under-rated. I think she will win Pop Vocal for Sober, and lose Pop Album to Black Eyed Peas. Beyonce will win tons in other categories, but not this one. I think Black Eyed Peas are going to be snubbed, for some reason, in all the big categories. But they will win Pop album as a consolation prize. DMB's album is fantastic, so I disagree with you that they don't deserve to win. I understand if you are not a fan, but ratings and reviews are not always the tell tale sign of who wins. There are so many other factors here. That said, I still think it will be between DMB, Beyonce, and Taylor. Gaga could steal it all though. lol

I have really no doubt that DMB will take AOTY. I would be very shocked if they lost it. This is the Grammys way of rewarding the band for their 2 decades of work, and the fact the album is dedicated to a founding member that died and the academy forgot to mention

How come MGMT are still eligable for BNA despite winning one last year?

How come MGMT are still eligable for BNA despite winning one last year? Justice won the Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. It was a remix for "Electric Feel." MGMT didn't win that actual award.

I don't know about the general field. It could go any way really. Taylor in SOTY and ROTY and Dave & 'em in AOTY seems possible.
