I'm really surprised that this albums actually good. Totally surprised.
I just checked iTunes Canada and "Future Love" is way infront of the other songs as the most popular off the album. I think this should have been the 2nd single. "Sabotage" is still a good choice.

I also just check US iTunes. "Future Love" seems to be the general favourite at this moment. Its Pop bar is way ahead.

NEWSDAY REVIEW (POSITIVE) CD review: 'Exposed' by Kristinia DeBarge July 27, 2009 By GLENN GAMBOA glenn.gamboa@newsday.com The CD cover for "Exposed" Kristinia DeBarge really couldn't have had a better head start. The 19-year-old daughter of James DeBarge, of '80s R&B group DeBarge, she grew up around the business and teamed up with hit maker Babyface five years ago to start planning her debut. "Exposed" (SodaPop/Island Def Jam) is the result of all that work, featuring her light, effortless vocals tackling a lot of sweet, pretty pop - much of which was written and/or produced by Babyface. No wonder it all seems pretty inevitable. DeBarge comes across as a streetwise Jordin Sparks with the stomping smash "Goodbye" and the new, more dance-oriented Rihanna-esque single "Sabotage." But what really sets her apart are the first-rate ballads that she flutters across, from the lovelorn "Disconnect," which anyone from Miley Cyrus to Whitney Houston would have fought to get on their albums, to the simple, quirky piano ballad "Doesn't Everybody Want to Fall in Love" that is also destined to be a smash. She even makes the tender, almost sappy "Died in Your Eyes" work for her. "Exposed" really does unveil DeBarge, who's set to open for Britney Spears this fall, as a complete package and a music marketer's dream - a teenager who can sing grown-up songs and make them feel young, and feel comfortable with everything from hip-hop to Celine Dion ballads. Her wait to break into the public eye is about to be so totally worth it. Play View Kristinia DeBarge's page on Rhapsody
On her Babyface-assisted debut, this 19-year-old nearly pulls a hamstring striving for the emotive power of Rihanna or Christina. But she's most fun riding lilting, girly R&B not so different from her dad James' tunes in 1980s group DeBarge. There's childlike confusion on "Cried Me a River," where love is so scary, it's like she's "on E," and "Future Love" is one of the shyest songs about stalking ever. What's that about kids today having no attention spans?

All Music Guide Review 3.5 STARS / 5 STARS POSITIVE Exposed Kristinia DeBarge Send to Friend Artist Kristinia DeBarge Album Exposed Rating AMG Pick 3.5 Stars Release Date Jul 28, 2009 Label Soda Pop/Island Review by Andy Kellman Kristinia DeBarge, daughter of DeBarge group member James DeBarge, failed to make the Top Ten round of American Juniors' first (and final) season. That was no obstacle for the aspiring performer. The show did not catapult any of its finalists to fame on the level of American Idol's Kelly Clarkson (or Diana DeGarmo, for that matter), and the early exit allowed DeBarge to be spared from performing a song titled "Cheeseburgers for Me." Six years after appearing on AJ, DeBarge debuts with Exposed, the first release on Babyface's Island-funded Soda Pop label. Babyface is clearly behind her; he has a hand in five of the album's eleven songs, and their makeup befits a label called Soda Pop — mostly youthful and energized pop-R&B, not the brand of relaxed, acoustic guitar-driven adult contemporary R&B from which Face has rarely strayed the last several years. When DeBarge works with others, like the Jam (a production duo, not the punk trio), the Pentagon (a five-member team, not the building), and Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic), the results are similar. Through and through, Exposed is an album directed at older tweens and teens, and it does tend to act its age, never presenting DeBarge as someone pretending to be any more wise or worldly than the average 19-year-old. Some of the material could use a shot of personality, but DeBarge is too relatable to deny. And though her voice has yet to fully develop and lacks the uniqueness running through her bloodline, it's clear she landed a major-label contract on the basis of her talent. www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:d9fexzraldje

Music Review Exposed Kristinia DeBarge
Kristinia DeBarge Grade: B By Leah Greenblatt
Kristinia DeBarge, whose father, James, was a member of '80s R&B-family hitmakers DeBarge, has already scored a top 20 hit: the featherweight kiss-off ''Goodbye,'' which cannily samples one-off wonder Steam's 1969 sports-stadium staple, ''Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye.'' It likely helped the 19-year-old land a gig opening for Britney Spears' Circus tour beginning this August, though Exposed's airy, girlish pop — especially cotton-candy Casio grooves like ''Future Love'' and ''Died in Your Eyes'' — mostly recalls the female stars of her dad's era: Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Paula Abdul, and (coincidence?) Exposé. B

People Magazine Review (Positive) Exposed by Kristinia DeBarge 3 out of 4 starsHer father, James DeBarge, was in the '80s sibling group DeBarge, but there's nothing about this 19-year-old that will remind you of those matching mullets. Instead, Kristinia DeBarge's winning debut, fresh and seemingly sun-kissed, makes her this summer's answer to Rihanna. The two share a similar vocal timbre and the same pop charms. First single "Goodbye," an undeniable dance-pop confection, recalls Rihanna's "SOS," reworking Steam's 1969 hit "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" much like "SOS" did "Tainted Love." Meanwhile, another Babyface-produced track, "It's Gotta Be Love," slyly borrows from LL Cool J's "I Need Love." Buy Now m.people.com/detail.jsp?key=2019010&rc=reviews&sc=music&cm=false

I think they went with the wrong first single for this album. "Goodbye" was novelty and didn't pay off in the long run. Not to mention that she sound better on all the other tracks on her album.
The album isn't bad. I think "Powerless" should have been picked over "Sabotage." It's dated, but it could still work.

IMO "Goodbye" was the best choice for a first single great song best off the album. I thought the label could have promoted her better leading up to the album's release. And they should have released "Future Love" before "Sabotage". But overall she has bright future decent singer and great album.

I agree. IMO "speak up" should've been the lead single. Goodbye is completely forgettable. Throwaway songs lead to poor album sales.

Well her album has officially flopped it debut at #30 with about 16,420 units moved. That's very bad debut for a new artist. Goodbye was only a moderate hit and not a bam! hit so i guess shouldv'e seen it coming.

Katy's album debuted inside the top 10 (#9) and GaGa's was released long before her first single peaked (and still managed to debut at #17).

That's horrible sales and Def Jam is going have go back to the drawing board if their thinking about a 2nd album from her. If Goodbye couldn't get her no sales I doubt Sabotage or Future love will. I guess she's one of those artist people overlook exactly why Rihanna did the Good Girl Gone Bad theme. It's not just about you putting out a good radio song and think people will be interested in you and your album it's more than that you got to have that umph.
