Contra is terrific; they really showed us how multifarious (and relentless) they are. The album as a whole feels like a more subdued affair, but it compels a more keen listen (or at least I felt it did). Such kind of keen listening revealed to me the sonic intricacies and elaborate lyrics and overall, I found the album to be quite stately. In my opinion, this emerged to be a better album in comparison to their debut - the lyrics are sharper and the sounds are more varied (though their debut does have more singular highlights). Surpassing their debut is extremely difficult, but they managed to pull it off by giving us a mix of their staple sound and even more idiosyncrasy. Kudos to them, for continuing to expand and ameliorate.
Oh and I'm ecstatic about the sales debut. They're really rightful of that number one debut as they are undoubtedly one of the contemporary indie luminaries.

It took me two listens to absolutely fall in love with this record. I've been playing it non-stop.

Vampire Weekend will take over. They were on Seacrest's show last week.

Their kooky new video for "Giving Up The Gun" (terrific choice!) featuring Joe Jonas and Jack Gyllenhaal, of all people, while boasting the Up-Out-My-Face color scheme:
I love it.

Rostam is gay, y'all.Which brings up the inevitable Lance Bass question: Has he ever had sex with the band members on a lonely, drunken post-show night?

Ardi, you made my day. This video is masterful. The use of tennis, the color schemes, the random celeb cameos (all brilliant, including JoeJo, Gyllz, f'n RZA! and least of all, the King of Crunk himself), etc. Great job, boys. Ivy Leaguers really can do no wrong.

In that video Ezra is working the fierce mannerisms. Theme surrounding the greatest sport in the universe + Jonas' cameo = a video that succeeds at life. My boys.

That video was thoroughly entertaining: the cameos, the tennis, and the music coalesced so well. Another triumph for the indie stars.

Vampire Weekend Cover Girl Sues BandTo the tune of $2 million. When we asked Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig about the woman on the cover of Contra last October, he said, "I don't want to give away all the details about the photo just yet, but I learned that she's now living in Malibu." Now we learn that the cover star, a woman named Kirsten Kennis, is suing the band and the photographer who took the shot for more than $2 million, according to a TMZ report. Apparently, Kennis filed the lawsuit in L.A. County Superior Court yesterday and, though a photo release form clearing the shot does exist, she claims the signature on the document is a forgery. Vampire Weekend declined to comment on the matter at this time. pitchfork.com/news/39478-vampire-weekend-cover-girl-sues-band/

Ho, sit your broke, Kim Basinger-looking a$$ DOWN. If not for Vampy Dubs, NO one would know who you are. Trifling money-grubbin' wench. If she thinks she should get paid, fine, but 2 milli? I love how she gasses herself up as some "high-fashion model". Wearing generic preppy clothes is high fashion? LOLOLOL.

They'll settle with her for a small fraction of that amount depending on what's in that release and how easy it is to prove that she signed and move on.
