And hopefully Katy Perry will win something. Hopefully Pop video for Hot N Cold! I think "Waking Up In Vegas" (is it elligible btw? :S) deserves Best Pop Video more than "Hot N' Cold". It's great. plus it should be nominated for some technical awards like Best Art Direction. Lady GaGa, Beyoncé and Britney are the great contenders for this year's VMA's imo. "Single Ladies" should be nominated and win VOTY, it made an impact that won't soon be forgotten. "Poker Face" will get a few nods. But please don't nominate "Just Dance", the song is great, but the video sucks LOL

Beyonce always gets attention from MTV (Hello, "Naughty girls" won over "Toxic") so I can guarantee she will win something. I hope Britney can get at least one win out of "Womanizer" or "Circus" though...they are definitely her greatest videos in years up to that point. Gaga should win Best New Artist or something.
Otherwise, I'm getting pretty impatient for these nominations! It's almost August!!

The dance from Single Ladies is great but there are better videos. Like Circus, Waking Up In Vegas or So What. Single Ladies still deserves a win for something but i don't see it as the video of the year.

I guess agree to disagree on that one...just because it was simple production doesnt mean it wasnt the video that made the most impact throughout the year.

Video of the year isn't exactly about impact. Is more about the best video of the year, and i don't think Single Ladies was the best one. But since these awards aren't that serious so... It should be nominated but not neccesarily win in my opinion. But if it wins, i wouldn't be pissed because it's still a great video.

Well some would argue that most impactful would be an indication of quality...'best' is so subjective you have to look for ways to quantify it and impact is a huge indicator. It was also best selling video of the year, and not just in the US but worldwide video chart domination...so I would say that according some criteria it was the 'best'...

Mariah never won a moonman before. She's not going to get her first award with that weak video. WBT deserved to win in the year it was released.

Mariah probably won't even be nominated unless they bring back Best R&B Video.
Female is locked up:
Beyonce "Single Ladies" Britney Spears "Womanizer" Lady Gaga "Pokerface" Pink "So What" Kelly Clarkson "My Life Would Suck Without You"
...And she ain't gettin in.

I actually love the performer list so far. I am sure the awesome will stop soon, but add in Gaga and I am just fine with the list!

Muse and Green Day confirmed? Hmm, I might actually watch.
And shoot, if Chace can present, can we get some Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles up in that joint?

Mariah never won a moonman before. She's not going to get her first award with that weak video. WBT deserved to win in the year it was released. I think Mariah has spent, cumulatively, $500-750 bucks on her videos. Most of them are just her in a field, hiding behind trees or twirling around like a mental patient while her current boyfriend tries to keep the camcorder steady. Ever seen an music video from India? Same thing.

The nominations are taking a lot to be released. MTV just gives the award to the artists who care to attend to show, so they are probably trying to determine which ones will be present

Doubtful, there wasn't any confirmation of what particular song she will sing. She'll most likely perform her new single "Funhouse".

Did you not hear when the VJ Sway said that she was going to perform a new version of "Sober" ? ETA: They must of deleted that clip because he said she was going to do "Sober" when it was up a few moment ago.

Did you not hear when the VJ Sway said that she was going to perform a new version of "Sober" ? Nope. He never said that. He said "and P!nk makes it a VMA repeat. The rocker released a statement saying quote last year I got to jump out of a window at the VMA's! This year I can't wait to blow the roof off of Radio City in New York." Nowhere does it say what song she will be performing.

Prior to the editing change he said she was going to preform a new version of "Sober" and he also said that Green Day would be performing "21 Guns" or something.
