I need to stop, I can't stop listening to the clip because I am so pumped to hear Carrie's voice on new material (even though this song will probably not be one of my favourites from the new record).
This clip is making me even more pumped to hear the new record. I am going to try really, really hard not to listen to the leak of the record when it happens, so that I can enjoy my first listen of the record from my physical CD copy from Best Buy in my home without interruption and with headphones. This is one of my rituals that I do with new CDs that I am stoked for.....I can't wait !!!!!

I can feel her smiling when singing "he is good, so good." I know she means it. I believe it. I'm SO anxious to hear the rest of the album. funny you talk about her smiling when she sings, because she did, when she was singing this at CMT invitation Aww she did? That just made me smile.

So when's the wedding? Haha! :)
Lyrically, I give it a B... and I'm being generous. Carrie's vocals and interpretation, I give an A++. Talk about really meaning what you're singing. I can clearly hear the sincerity in her voice even with just a minute-long clip. Simple, toned-down production... I love it!
ETA: I can't stop listening to the clip. Carrie's voice is soooo beautiful. Gah!

i think i might have mentioned before that after the taping was over, everyone was asking "so when's the wedding". (I again say by end of 2010)
i really hope this is an indication that there are other tracks that show what a great interpretive singer she is and what a beautiful voice she has. she shouldn't have to sing over layers upon layers of production. her voice is already beautiful as is so there shouldnt be a need to add so much 'extras'. its like a good pizza. if the pizza's good (dough, cheese, sauce) you shouldn't need to put all the crazy amount of toppings on it.
i've mentioned before i don't think highly of the lyrics (and i still do; the lyrics don't really expand much more from what you've heard), but carrie's emotion and sincerity in singing the song is what makes the song.
Temporary Home was also performed somewhat stripped down at the CMT invitation taping, and after hearing this, i'm really looking forward to hearing how it is on the album.

How did that falsetto sound live? Amazing I'm sure...?

^ For some reason Carrie's team doesn't seem to like to announce stuff ahead of time.. lol So if the song goes on sale on Itunes tuesday, I think we will have to find out ourselves. lol
If it wasn't for twitter, we might never have found out about the Billboard preview clip of mama's song! lol Not sure why, but they don't announce things too much in advance. lol Ie- the Walmart Soundcheck thing is this week, the 15th, but her website doesn't mention it.
Maybe there will be a media blitz from her team on Monday- or Tuesday- since it is a holiday Monday.

Looks like he is really feeling the album and Temporary Home. "The best yet" is a reply asking how he would compare Play On to Carrie's previous works. Source: twitter.com/jeremyshow

Ty I have tried and tried to manipulate the URL for the clips. Have you tried anything? I found a way to directly find all loaded mp3s, but the thing is we need to find the song code for each of Carrie's songs and that is impossible I think. Any luck?

^ Awesome! Gosh I wish I was a fly on the wall. :)
Of the demos that we have heard that made the album (not counting Cowboy Casanova or Oklahoma Wind, which was a favorite of mine), I would say that my favorite song so far is "Someday When I Stop Loving You." I also love Change. It is a real grower.
Of the Mike Baby songs, I prefer "Look at Me" so far, but that may change when I hear the full song of Mama's Song. :) They are both really good though.

I'm not good at that technical stuff, So I'll have to leave that to you. I'm sure will be getting clips very soon though.
I honestly think that everything we've heard so far has been quality work (CC,SWISLY,LAM,Change,MS preview). I just feel really good about this album, I think its going to be Carrie's best yet, and more importantly show progression.

The lyrics are simple, sincere, and smooth, just like the song. I don't see a thing wrong with it at all. Her voice is well, as I expected and more. This is a different Carrie I'm hearing. Well, at least what I've heard so far.

CR did very well in my opinion. It produced 5 #1 singles, and sold 3 million copies. However, I think it lacked a BIG hit. SH had BHC, and JTTW. Even Wasted, I think, was bigger than most singles off of CR. I hope PO offers some big hits like SH did. I think that CC definitely has the potential to be up there with JTTW's status. I hope there are other songs like it, because Carrie deserves material like that. CR, in my opinion, kind of lacked that material.

It will be tough to outsell CR. As mistercribbs said, it sold 3 mil. Few artists are even selling that well now. Heck even if she sells 1.5-2 mil, I think that would be an accomplishment given the market right now.

I even think it will outsell CR. I even think it will outsell SH. Doubt it because times are changing, but I think PO should easily outsell CR.

"And I think I found the answer to your prayers."
I guess I'm the only one but, to me, this is an interesting twist of a common saying. That one little line says a lot. But, I will admit this, her co-writes tend to be cumbersome and full of cliche'd filler. The thought is normally good but the execution tends to read as if from Bartlett's.

I don't think Carrie has the kind of song writing gift as some of those in Nashville have, which is why I'm kinda worried for some of these songs. I think her team should focus on the best songs that they get, rather than the best Carrie co-writes.

I think her team should focus on the best songs that they get, rather than the best Carrie co-writes. It's not just about team though. I mean of course you should always go for the best songs you can find, but this is Carrie's album. She ultimately compiled the songs with advice and asistance from others. It's her album, so she should be able to chose the songs regardless of what other people say. I personally think Mama's Song and CC along with the others are a great sign of things to come. Sometimes lyrics in a song don't have to be confusing and technical to be good. It's okay to sometimes have simple poetic songs on an album that contain cliches. Carrie certainly doesn't have a gift for songwriting like she does for singing, but it's great that she is out there giving it a try anyway. There is no harm in testing your limits. I think Carrie's simple writing on this album will pay off.
