I think a video like "Bye Bye" would be good for this song. (not exactly like it, though)
I think she should be singing solo, walking in a park (during autumn with leaves falling around her) during the verses, and the chorus should be clips of her and Nick's wedding video.
That may be the gayest thing I've ever written.

And yeah, autumn leaves and walking in the park I would only keep Nick Cannon out of this, pls. I don't want the video to end with Mariah grabbing his a$$ again LOL.

What the F is a Cumulus add for a song? Cumulus is a block of station that have the same or similar playlists, and they all add songs at the same time. The Cumulus stations added this today, so it got 11 adds but really it's like one giant add.

But hey, if it makes you feel better, then I say do it. ;)

1. This is not a pop song, not even for a ballad
2. Give Obsessed a chance, for god's sake, especially now that it's picked up steam

If this fails and Mariah career goes down the toilet at least she has had many, many years of success. But I hope it does well.

^ LOL, Mariah's career will never go down the toilet. This woman has been making hits for 20 years including this one. Even if this song underperforms, I still imagine Memoirs will be one of the best selling albums of the year (like top 20 at the worst, let's say) and she'll be out in a few years again with more hits. If Mariah has proven anything to us, it's that she's eternal and will never fade.

THis is the music business. Sell 10 million one year and sell less than 200,000 copies the next. They don't give a f**k about you being legendary or your past accomplishments. You should have asked Michael Jackson.

Mariah is guaranteed at least 1 hit with EVERY album. Other than THROUGH THE FLOP and LOVERFLOP, she has one major mainstream hit from each album. I just hope she can get 3 more #1s before its all said and done so she can FINALLY beat The Beatles.

I find it baffling how people keep stating their opinions as facts. Many of these same people were criticizing obsessed when it was first released. And now it's become a HUGE airplay hit. Perhaps people should just wait and see how IWTKWLI performs before a conclusion is made. Radio is so unpredictable. All we can say is that "i want to know what love is" - is a respectable cover and mariah's vocals are strong! Many have wanted mariah to return to the big ballads. And now you criticize her for doing so?

Great reviews continue to pour in :o --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- top40.about.com/b/2009/08/28/mariah-carey-i-want-to-know-what-love-is-goes-to-european-radio-she-hits-it-out-of-the-park.htmMariah Carey "I Want To Know What Love Is" Goes to European Radio - She Hits It Out of the ParkWhat do you do when you are one of the top pop recording artists of all time and still possess much of the original talent that got you there? If you are Mariah Carey, you keep reaching for new sonic achievements in music. The new single from Carey's upcoming Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel album is a remake of Foreigner's #1 smash hit single "I Want to Know What Love Is." The original version hit #1 on the US pop singles chart for two weeks in 1985. Mariah Carey's new version could leave you speechless. The diversity of vocal coloring expressed in this recording is stunning. While the single "Obsessed" remains disappointing, this single is a reminder of just how formidable Carey's talents are given a strong production and arrangement. The production here is courtesy Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and James "Big Jim" Wright. The official release of "I Want to Know What Love Is" is not scheduled until September 29, 2009 when the album hits stores.

neonlimelight.com/2009/08/27/new-music-mariah-carey-i-want-to-know-what-love-is/New Music: Mariah Carey – I Want To Know What Love IsLadies and gentlemen, Mariah Carey is back! After the not-so-warm reception of her “buzz” single, “Obsessed,” MiMi got back into the ballad saddle to deliver one hell of a power-ballad in the form of a cover of Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is.” The song, which is now slated as the first single from MC’s upcoming Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, due September 29, sounds like something Mariah would have created in the 90’s: big, sweeping vocals, gospel choir backing, bust your eardrum high-note. It’s classic MC and damn! Is it good to have it back in action.

I believe this will be a big hit. It's a wonderful song, and the gospel-tinges, snaps, etc. make it very rhyhthmic and urban friendly. Smart move to have Dream help her with this song. It's phenomenal. Incredible. I think it has potential. Even if it doesn't, I laud her for releasing this, and not something juvenile like Up Out of My Face. I wanted a mature ballad like this so badly on E=MC2, and didn't get it. I'm really excited about this. Regarding this killing the momentum of Obsessed, they both are such different songs, that I don't think one will kill the other. One's a snarky upbeat song, the other is a sweeping ballad. Radio can and will play both for a while. This will take time to grow as well. Meanwhile, Obsessed is topping Rhythmic, and is soaring up Urban. Yes, it would be great to wait another two weeks, but radio has had plenty of time for Obsessed. It's their fault for not picking up on it. It's such an awesome song and has done amazing on the callouts.

I'm just happy that she's using proper English in this ballad. And not using words like "peoples" and talking about how she got to #1. Bye Bye was awful, lyrically, and even musically in my opinion. It was trite and recycled. The production on this is classic yet fresh. I love it. It far surpassed my expectations.

I find it baffling how people keep stating their opinions as facts. Um, case in point... No one's criticizing her for doing a ballad -- they're criticizing the song for being a wretched mess and for ruining a classic song.

All we can say is that "i want to know what love is" - is a respectable cover and mariah's vocals are strong! her vocals are not strong at all! When she whispers, sure, but 2nd verse on she is strained. And i'm not the only one who thinks that.

I love the song, it's something different. It actually makes me want to hear the album. I want the HQ of this badly, so hopefully the HQ leaks soon.
