From Billboard.com
This is Houston's 46th week atop The Billboard 200--which is more than any other female artist in the chart's 53-year history. (Mariah Carey is in second place with 30 weeks.) Remarkably, Houston logged 45 weeks in the #1 spot before her 30th birthday, thanks to Whitney Houston (14 weeks on top), Whitney (11 weeks) and The Bodyguard (20 weeks). Alriiiiiight! LEGEND!

The album is very good. I think it's as good as Toni Braxton's Libra was, which is a compliment because I thought Libra was also very good. Good, solid R&B. There was filler...I can't take the almost 5 minutes that is 'Worth It', and I'm not really that into 'Nothin' But Love' or 'Like I Never Left'.
But more than half of the album is fantastic. 'Salute' and 'Call You Tonight' are great R&B records. I adore ILTY and IDKMOS. MDB is good for what it is; I still disagree with it being a single. I didn't like the dance-element put onto 'A Song For You', but the beginning gave me chills. 'For The Lovers' and 'I Got You' are very good.
So I think that covers everything. I can gladly give it an "A". It's just solid, good R&B. I'm pleased with the purchase. I was reluctant to buy it (I only own her Greatest Hits), but I'm happy I did. I'll listen to it as much as I did 'Libra'.

^^^^ Nice, honest and fair review. My only gripe with the album is the noticeable vocal difference in each song, but I guess that's to be expected since she's been recording since 07. Her live performances always seem to best her studio versions imo. Nevertheless, I think it's a solid effort for her and you can tell that she poured her heart out in this album brava!

I didn't have much of a problem with her voice. I noticed what you're talking about though, but, factoring everything in, she's still one of the best out there, and mops the floor with 95% of today's biggest pop/r&b phenoms.
I'm really proud of her for selling 300K! :o Those are great numbers, almost double of what I thought she would sell. She should be very proud of herself.

How is this album selling so well without any hit single, hardly any radio support, no videos to date and poor single sales? Is her sales on her name and curiosity alone? WOW great job Whitney.
All her songs are great remixed on the dance floor. IDKMOS has tons of remixes to it already. I only know of the Freemasons mixes to MDB and I don't know of any remixes out for I Look To You yet.
Her album is good, but I still feel it is a little dated if I had to pick a "flaw".

After that performance I don't want to hear anybody talk about her losing her voice, b/c it is there just not what the people who were wrapped up in BG days think she should sound like. I firmly believe that as she continues to sing live her voice will get stronger. "A Song for You" was her final song she recorded (did it a couple of days before her NYC listening party) so I'm confident in her current vocal state.

IDKMOS should be the third single in my opinion, esp. if she is performing it on Oprah. What dates is she on Oprah??

Not to mention she already has official remixes out for it..unless those were meant for a club single release only. The Oprah exposure and the meaning behind her journey for the last 7 years.

I hear I'm Every Woman in Million Dollar Bill and I consider IEW a dated sounding song for 2009. I like the album but feel that it was pieced together oddly over the past 2 years. I wish there was more of a theme to it and also more songs. What's up with recording songs and only putting 11 on the new album. Surely there must be more in her vault, maybe not. Could be that 11 is all they could get. I'll be interested in the Oprah interview. What dates does that air?

I forgot his name, but he's pretty popular....wait he did a remix of it's Not Right But is Ok. Starts with a J I think lol. I think the theme is humbling, grace, strength and love. I also think 11 songs is fine. I would rather her choose that amount that she feels is her best rather than a bunch of songs just to fill the album. She spent those years carefully choosing the right songs that fit her. She even said at her NYC listening party that she told A LOT of people no re:songs. Oprah airs on the 14th and 15th.

Oprah is suppose to have been or is going to be on GMA to talk about her interview with Whitney this morning. I have always loved ILTY but after seeing a glimpse of the video(she looks gorgeous) and reading bits and pieces about her struggle- the song is even impacting me more.

FYI, I exchanged texts with a friend in LA yesterday and hethis is how itr started:
"OMG, you are going to shit. I have been cast in Whit's Million Dollar Bill video. Shot is tomorrow."
I replied "SHUT UP! But I thought that she had already filmed it and it is to premiere next week"
"All I know is I have been cast in the video, more details to follow."
Hmm, so I am assuming that my friend is obviously and extra and prtobably doesn't intertact with Whitney as her portion has already been filmed?? Anyone have any info?

I have a feeling this video is gonna be huge! :o

Now on Yahoo's front page: blogs.ajc.com/peachbuzz/2009/09/10/oprah-drops-houston-interview-bombshell/comment-page-1/#comment-4767Oprah drops Houston interview bombshell 9:03 am September 10, 2009, by Richard Eldredge In a preview of next week’s interview, Oprah Winfrey revealed Thursday morning on “Good Morning America” that it was Cissy Houston, the woman who brought daughter Whitney Houston into the music business who threatened to take her out of the industry at the height of her battle with drugs. During a live interview from the Chicago set of her talk show, Winfrey told Diane Sawyer that it was Cissy Houston who turned up at the house her daughter shared with now ex-husband Bobby Brown with a court injunction and sheriffs in tow. In a clip from the two-part interview that will air on “Oprah” next Monday and Tuesday, Houston recalled the incident saying, “My mother had the court paper in her hand and said ‘You do this my way or not at all. We’ll go on TV and you’ll retire.’ ” Houston also recalled what her mother told a nervous looking Bobby Brown as the sheriffs gathered around them. According to Whitney Houston her mother told Brown: “If you move Bobby, they’re going to take you down.” The move by Cissy Houston, who first hired her daughter to sing back up for her in the early 1980s and was there the night music mogul Clive Davis first heard her daughter sing, was a last ditch attempt to get Whitney into drug rehab. The family intervention worked and the troubled singer tells Winfrey she went to rehab. It was unclear during the “GMA” segment when the intervention took place and if it was while the couple resided in Country Club of the South here. According to the singer, Cissy Houston told her: “I’m not going to lose you to the world. I’m not going to lose you to Satan. I want my daughter back. I want to see that glow in your eye again.” Last week, Cissy Houston was seated in the front row at Whitney’s “GMA” comeback concert. Winfrey also brought along a clip from her up

This is going to be a deep interview. She is so open and honest about it all. Ms. Cissy was serious and I admire her mother even more for doing that.
