was the song ever released to radioor had impact date? I don't think the song was ever suppose to be like this big single . it's doing what it's suppose to do , but it's just nice to have new music from Janet.

^ No radio adds date. (as of yet)
I'm still loving it --- I think it served it's purpose.

still hasn't got an official treatment. no official press release about the GH & Make Me. No radio impact day aka the add date. the #1's still hasn't been mentioned on her own site. this is really weird. but at least the tracklisting is great!
hopefully, MAKE ME would get a video.

I hope not. I think she can do better. Especialyl if it is suppose to be a comeback single of sorts (she has a real oppurtunity to kick ass now that she is in favor with the media.)

Without an adds date and/or promotion, no, this is not a single but just the new track from #1's.

GIL is holding dancers audition. Rumor has it's for new Janet music video. if it IS for the music video, it must be MAKE ME. and finally an official single treatment, now we need an add date for radio!

hopefully the next one will be better- but obviously she is only gettting so much traction out of MJ's death and no pity radio play. ...you don't seem to like either of the Jacksons, so why are you trolling in a Janet thread on MJ's behalf? ???

^ But WHY would people think MJ's death would get Janet a hit? His death will get HIM hits and sales... not Janet.
And why does she need a hit anyway? When MJ was alive, I was mad at him for working with "hip producers" like Akon and Will I Am. He should have just written an album for his fans, and not one chasing trends. Janet has had a great run and she's a pop culture icon. She doesn't need anymore hits. Just keep making music and touring regularly for her fans.

The three dance mixes are great. I'm sure some pop stations will play the mixes overnight or something.

I love Janet and, as a big time fan, I will always want to see her do well on the charts. But if she never has another huge chart hit again, I'm okay with that because she's had an amazing career that's ongoing and she's still making music I love.
That said, I think it's odd that so much conversation is devoted to why female pop icons like Janet, Madonna, Whitney and Mariah have an increasingly tough time releasing chart toppers. Nobody is spending too much time worrying about why U2 and Bon Jovi aren't topping the charts with their latest releases. It just smacks of sexism. To me, in general, it's only natural that pop music is dominated by younger acts, because pop music is fueled by younger people. And I don't know too many 14 or 15 year old teens that want to listen to the same music that their parents listened to. When I was 15 and joining the Rhythm Nation, I sure didn't want to hear the Beatles or the Eagles, which is what my dad loved to play. I've learned to appreciate it now, but at the time that would have been the most uncool thing in the world.
So I don't stress too much about whether "Make Me" or any of her future releases will be considered hits. But I am glad that the song looks like it's going to make an impact on the dance charts and that I've been hearing it out in bars in NYC. It makes me happy to hear Janet when I'm out.
I do think "Make Me" still has a chance to have some sort of impact. She's filming a video, which would imply an actual release to radio. It's not going to No. 1, but there could be more to come for this song. I hope so, because I love it!

1) Unfortunately, there's always double standards (especially male vs. female) in the music industry.
2) I appreciate that Make Me is a gift. Even though a video is coming soon, I don't think there's any need to make a fuss over the eventual future of the song. Either you like it or not, and that's what counts the most. Charts are fun, but that won't make me like or dislike a song more or less.

Ha ha. Fair enough, although I haven't been posting on Pulse long enough to really know the dynamics of the community here.
That said, I was thinking more about society as a whole, which isn't nearly gay enough if you ask me. (Although Adam Lambert is doing all he can to skew things back in our direction!) There's so much media devoted to why the divas we grew up with don't top the charts anymore, whereas when iconic male performers/bands are releasing new music, reception is generally more celebratory. You just don't hear the same types of conversation about Prince, Bruce, U2, etc., from society as a whole.
