Idol's with their debut albums don't always need the hype from a debut single to help their album sales. David last year didn't really have one until son before his album dropped, and his album actually sold quite well through the holidays. Daughtry also was kinda single-less, and then INO blew up after the holiday's, really. I think there's enogh buzz around Adam to have that initially, at least, sustain his album sales. If he wants to keep them up there, though, he'll need a hit eventually, obviously. I think he'll have success more similiar to Daughtry, ftr, than David Cook. Cook released Light On 2 months before his album dropped, and Time of My Life was a big AC hit over the summer. He definitely had debut singles helping him with his album. He may not need them initially but there's no point in waiting until his album drops to release a single, IMO.

Judging Adam only on Satisfaction & BOW isn't fair - I HATED him after those 2 performances. Tracks of my Tears, Mad World, Feelin' Good, A Change Gonna Come, Whole Lotta Love & Slow Ride were phenomenal. I also loved Ring of Fire but that's probably his most polarizing performance of all. You may be right. I'm definitely not a fan at this point, so it will have to be pretty phenominal to win me over.

Well, it would take willpower to listen to him, again. I literally felt like my ears had been attacked by his screeching. I have no other way to describe it. Satisfaction was so over the top and overblown... and then to see him slaughter Black or White... like it was a song meant to be screamed out like that... and then get all emotional as though he'd just given the performance of his life. It literally made me ill. I was in disbelief. When the new song comes out, I'll take a listen. Just to see if it lives up to the hype.

I agree with you, I think that unless the single is absolutely horrendous, it will only help. I'm just saying that it's not necessarily bad that it hasn't been released yet.

I kind of feel the same way. :) Why are they waiting so long to release the first single? His Idol fan base will give him a great first week but then radio needs to get on board.

as the album date is getting closer, his single is nowhere to be seen.so will they even release the single 3 weeks before the album drops?has any artist done this before.i always thought u should put your single out long time before u drop ur album.

Jive always puts singles out way before the albums. RCA had Cook's single way before this last year. Daughtry was a special case because I don't think people expected him to sell that much. Adam is carrying the S8 banner with him and getting the winner's promo.
I think no matter what the single is, it will be a slight disappointment. The hype is already too much.

I can't stand his voice either. Technically he's a good singer, but his voice is just grating to me, and he's way too overdramatic in all of his performances.

He has a powerful voice, but it drives me up the wall.
His performance of Ring of Fire was a mess. Johnny Cash rolled in his grave about twenty times during that.

Any confirmation yet that the lead single will be the Pink/Max Martin-penned track? If so, the thread title can be changed to ""What Ya Want From Me?" and a "Time for Miracles" thread can be started somewhere else. There seems to be a lot of TFM talk here.

I hope TPTB are smart and send TFM to HAC. It would kill there (well, a shorter version anyways).
That Yahoo review/preview sounds amazing. I can't wait for this album!

TFM reminds me of Time of My Life in that even though it's really schmaltzy and cliche, it's likable. So glad it's just a soundtrack single though.

Personally, I loved all of Adam's performances except for "One" which was shockingly bad i thought and I didn't like the slowed down version of "If I can't have you"- all the others though, I was blown away.
I admit, in the new video, he LOOKS really good- the hair, outfit, it's all very good. I think I've seen that rooftop in too many Idol videos- so that was a bit uncreative- and the syncing was strange- almost as if they only used the end parts where he is really intense singing the song- because in the beginning where he should be a more soft-spoken in the first chorus, the video makes him look like he is shouting it- it doesn't match up that well. But some parts are good.

According to a fan encounter with Ryan Tedder, Adam's REAL single will be picked by Friday:

They did a music video because Time for Miracles is the theme song for 2012, and they're also showing it before This is It worldwide, which will help Adam's international exposure. That's why. And yes, it's awesome that Adam cracked the Top 10 on iTunes :)

Plus it's not like they had to shell out much money for the video. It's mostly just scenes from the movie.

Read the Yahoo preview of 3 of Adam's songs linked above. That should tell you his musical direction.

Still no single. This should be blowing up together with Rihanna and Gaga (they all release their albums the same day).

Ryan Tedder said Adam's final tracklisting will be decided today, so I'm guessing we'll get the single next week. I'm glad he didn't release this week. All the buzz was about Rihanna's song. Next week is free and clear.
