Team Adam, but i have a serious question and it's how will they handle videos as far as love interest?

This sounds good, but with the right female it would sound HOT. I can actually imagine Rihanna singing it.

I have a feeling the videos will stick to androgynous themes. Other than his flaming album cover he has been good at going back and forth from being openly gay to teasing the women that just maybe they have a shot. I think it is too risky to do love scenes with men at this point so maybe the plot lines will be carried about by actors and he will be doing the performance scenes and walking around the actors singing. I can see it in my head but can't think of a video right off that does that.

For this particular video, he told a fan on Twitter that he'd have both men and women in it, which is fine. I mean, even THAT is pushing some boundaries as far as mainstream America, but I know he said in an interview during the AI tour when asked that, he said that "it would depend on the song" for whether or not he'd have a male love interest, so he's definitely open to it. The thing is, EVERYONE knows he's gay, and if they didn't know, that album cover spells it out in big, flaming, glittery letters, so I don't think he'd stick to having just female love interests. That would seem disingenuous and quite frankly? A flat out lie. So...we'll see.
FWIW, this song already won a head to head battle on a Detroit radio station. It won against Carrie's "Cowboy Casanova" which is my OTHER jam at the moment.

This is pretty good sans the high notes (people shouldn't belt these type of songs) and the single cover is much better than the album cover but it does remind me of "Single Ladies" lol The song itself reminds me of "Black & Gold" by Sam Sparro but that song is light-years better than this. Nonetheless Lambert did a pretty good job with this.

Yeah there isn't a guy like Adam at all on the charts right now, but I think that helps him stand out more. He's not generic and forgettable at all since there really aren't any electropop guys on American radio right now. I think this will easily hit the Top 10 on CHR, no problem, and has the potential to go higher than that. I've been reading lots and lots of reviews of people hearing this song who didn't watch Idol and/or didn't know who Adam was and loving it, so that's great :) It's definitely a hot song and I think the remixes are going to KILL.
Go Adam :)

hello...his cover is still a BIG FLOP.....the singles and the cover are two different thing.i wont blame them for their expectation of flop due to the cover fiasco.

Will be very interesting to see how this does. There hasn't been a gay guy with an airplay hit in decades.
I have to admit I'm kind of burned on it already. The song just doesn't go anywhere.

You're right in that an openly gay guy hasn't had an airplay hit in at least 20 years I think, but I know Ricky Martin had some success on radio back in the late 90's and I can't even remember NOT questioning his sexuality, so we'll see. Everyone assumed Clay Aiken was gay, and I think Invisible made it into the Top 20 on pop. Not a huge hit, but not bad.
From a sociological perspective this is going to be fascinating to watch.

Does anyone else have a problem remembering this song after it's over? I swear I listened to it like 6 times and I was trying to remember it and sing it by myself and I just can't. People keep saying it's catchy, but my brain is not feeling the catchy. I do. It's catchy when I listen to it, but less than 5 minutes after it ends, I forget how the song goes.

I have to admit I'm kind of burned on it already. The song just doesn't go anywhere. Bingo. Again, he is going to have some terrific initial success (and lots of BIG appearances) but can he build a career. That's the really, really difficult part. I can say the same thing about 90% of the artists on the Pop chart. Here today and gone tomorrow.

Didn't Elton John's "Candle in the Wind" for Diana get airplay? I mean, it is the world's biggest selling single.

Still, I think we can all agree those were very exceptional circumstances.

Ok I looked it up. As best as I could tell, the last time an openly gay singer had a hit (and that's using the term loosely) was Melissa Etheridge with "If I Wanted To" which hit #16 on the Hot 100 in 1995. Melissa came out as lesbian in 1993.
As far as a Top 10 hit? George Michael has 10 #1 hits in the US up until the 1990's, but he was closeted during that entire time.

Just listened. I really like this, BUT this type of music has never been successful in the U.S. I don't see how Adam's gonna be able to change that. That being said, I don't see how this won't smash in Europe.
