ok i just wanna say something real quick i am obsessed with obsessed and also with mariah! but not with her new album! WTF! is this mariahs album, or did leona lewis album get leaked and confused for mariahs? wth! how the hell did she go from the masterpiece, e=mc, to THIS! UGH! its so bad. beyong bad. its garbage. a bunch of slow boring a** songs. horrible lyrics, just everything! what is the club banger jammer obsessed doing on that album. it doesnt belong there. its in the middle of all this dead boring awful songs. i love u mimi! and was so excited for new stuff from u. i still hear ur last album in daily rotation. couldnt beleive i was gonna get new stuff, but what the hell is this.
people keep talking about this songs and i dont get it: 1. HATEU can that be a single? hell no. it would do worse than ISIL. its boring she sings horribly in it, its not cacthy, and the only good part is "i cant wait to hate , love u or whatever she says" and thats like 10 sec of a 4 min song. its bad! 2. up out my face. its the funniest song ive heard in a long time. this is hilariously BAD! the song its just ridiculious. how she sings it, barf. the lyrics lame. and the chorus, just hilarious. its too getto and ridiculous. just wtf! "up out my face boy, up out my face boy" wtf! seriously. and then im like good its over. and its get more ridiculous by a full on band singing it. i find it amusing but in a bad way.
anyways i do agree i will still be obsessed with obsessed. its my new umbrella. and the album as horrible as it is, it has 2 other good songs. angels cry is beautiful. but the stand out and the one if this album has any chance of survival that should had been 2nd single. its a jammer. the beat OMG! the lyrics. and the amazing cacthy chorus. the song that can maybe pick this era back up, if IWTKWLI fails. its the only standout song in the album. it really needs to be a single asap. cause if not then we have abother flop album cause of horrible single choices. though this album shold flop cause its horrible. but e=mc says hi an amazing album that flop even though it was amazing. but that song is SATNDING O! omfg! its EPIC! no kidding! when the chorus came up for the first time i literally sopped what i was doing and my jaw dropped i was amazed! LOE ITS! it deserves a standing ovation. suck a killer track.
closing comments. wheres my migrate, the killer jam; wheres my ill be loving u long time, the most poppy purest perfection since always be my baby,; for the record, the best ballad since WBT(this album has none. though angels cry its great); side effects, what a beautiful lyrically vocally amazing track; even thanks for nothing and last kiss slow rnb songs that became gems, beautifully sung, lyrically great, touching and just loved them. and just great cacthy upbeat songs OOC and cruise control. damn! what the eff did u do mariah! get out of the 90s and come back. damn! she can really create such jammerss. eve if shes known for her 90s ballads. but this is an rnb snoorefest.

So is the 2CD edition of Memoirs available at all stores or is it specific to one retailer? I'm not too attached to the remixes but I like to have the version of the album with the most tracks if I buy it at a store. :)

If I were Vegas, I'd set the over/under at 300k.
Does anyone know how much "The Ballads" opened with?

I can't remember but it wasn't too shabby to basically have no promo, so who knows. Mariah might surprise us and do 400k+, I mean she is MARIAH CAREY, but is that enough?

I fear she will sell around 200k and will struggle to sell 500 k. She has no promo, no one knows she's releasing an album. This is the first time she has no single in Uk. I think it will flop in UK. Why isn't she doing anything?!

Yeah, from what I recall, the Ballads opened up well without any promo and without any new material whatsoever. She does have a hit on the radio and that's the best promo you can get.

a review that matters in terms of reach: ASSOCIATED PRESS AND ITS POSITIVE!!!
Music Review: Carey's 'Imperfect Angel' is perfect
By MESFIN FEKADU (AP) – 46 minutes ago
Mariah Carey, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" (Def Jam)
"I should crack you right in your forehead," Mariah Carey sings on the breakup tune "It's a Wrap."
The song, on her latest CD, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," finds a hungover Carey kicking her lover to the curb with particularly harsh words.
"Another early morning, and you walk in like it's nothing ... ain't no doughnuts, ain't coffee," she sings with attitude in her signature high-pitch tone. "Let me take a breath and regain my composure, told you more time, if you (expletive) up it's over."
But even though she's spitting venom, Carey's cooing on the doo-wop sounding song is so sensuous and sweet, even the song's intended target will remain under her spell — as will her listeners.
"Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" is an exceptional album that is about love — being in it, out of it, over it and trying to reach it. While the subjects are tried and true, they are never tired, thanks to Carey's approach, which mixes a good dose of humor and wit with her multi-octave voice.
"Betcha Gon' Know," the disc's opening track, sets the tone as Carey compares the seriousness of her broken heart to news programs like "60 Minutes," "20/20" and "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
Carey produced and wrote the majority of the album with Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and Terius "The-Dream" Nash — and those hitmakers add their own touch to "Imperfect Angel" without overdoing it.
"Ribbon," which bumps with southern flavor, is radio-friendly, showcasing The-Dream and Tricky's signature sound. As does "Standing O," with its addictive hook.
Other notables tunes include "H.A.T.E.U." ("Having a Typical Emotional Upset"), a beautiful heartbreak ballad, and the top-notch "Candy Bling," a teenage love affair tune that finds Carey so in love she "can't delete your picture from my mind."
Some of the tracks use samples: "Inseparable" interpolates Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" and "The Impossible" finds Carey "layin' in the bed bumpin' Jodeci." The latter samples the R&B group's hit song "Forever My Lady."
"Imperfect Angel," though helmed by The-Dream and Tricky, still maintains a classic Mariah sound — especially on the soothing "Angels Cry" and its accompanying prelude, and the personal "Languishing," highlighted by a piano.
No one is perfect — that's obvious. This CD is — that's obvious too.
CHECK THIS TRACK OUT: "It's a Wrap" joins tracks like "Vision of Love," "Always Be My Baby" and "We Belong Together" as a classic Mariah song.

I just wrote this review for AMAZON:
4.0 out of 5 stars "Memoirs" takes you on a journey with the angels September 28, 2009 By Luis Gonzalez (San Jose, CR) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
If Mariah's last album, "E=MC2", was criticized by many for being lyrically immature and sonically not cohesive, with "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" Mariah took it to the other extreme. Teaming up with Terius "The Dream" Nash and Christopher "Tricky Stewart" for both writing and production credits surely seemed a risky a move, but in the end, it payed. "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" takes delight from chill, modern and soothing production from this hit-makers and also from Mariah's deeply personal lyrics.
From the set of "20/20 Barbara Walters, for real, for real" [Betcha Gon Know (The Prologue)] to an insight into her bedroom where she does "things I probably shouldn't mention" [The Impossible], this album takes us on a much more personal journey than Mariah's two previous efforts did.
"Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" comes to fill a hole for those longing for the romantic, love seeking and vocally pleasing Mariah. She delivers from every possible range her voice has: the soothing whispers, the powerful chest voice, the angelic falsettos and the immaculate whistles. Although lacking the party, club-banging feeling that "The Emanciption of Mimi" and "E=MC2" had, songs like "Standing O" and "Up Out My Face" (which reprise features a marching band) could definitely get some parties started. Still, the mood of the album is much more relaxed, with Mariah keeping her voice under tone and mellowed down, only showing its full potential where necessary. This actually makes the endings on songs like "Candy Bling" or "Ribbon" (hopefully released as a single at some point) even more spectacular.
The bland instrumentation and lack of variety on "Inseparable" and "More Than Just Friends" make them the two most forgettable tracks on the album (especially the former). This actually makes the album drown a bit towards the middle, but then rises back up as Mariah kicks in singing "It's a Wrap", a song full of old-school R&B/Soul sounds and "shoo-do-do-do-do's" that could have perfectly been on the Daydream album. It is even more impressive given that Mariah wrote this song all by herself, except for sampling Barry White.
The heartbreaking anthem of Memoirs is definitely "H.A.T.E.U." (which stands for Having A Typical Emotional Upset). Towards the bridge and ending, Mariah comes with full-powered voice singing "I can't wait to hate you, make you pain like I do", in perfect tone with the lyrics as her voice seems as if starting to crack up as she holds back her tears. Definitely one of the highlights of this album, the other being "Angels Cry", a beautiful, 90's inpired ballad which features one of Mariah's best vocal performance of the decade. Singing in full voice throughout the whole track, she doesn't want to "allow love to lose". This track is preceded by "Angel (The Prelude)", which features a wall of Mariah's whispers, setting the climax for the grand finale. The gospel-influenced version of Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is" (1984) closes the album. Sadly, the ending is too abrupt and makes you feel as if you were flying up high with the angels only to be dropped off immediately with a broken parachute.
All in all, the album results in a very solid effort from Mariah. If I took a star out of the rating, it was because of the overuse of finger snaps and drum loops. Songs like "Angels Cry" would have benefited a lot from having real drums instead. This certainly marks yet another turning point in her career, and I certainly hope we get to see more of this mature, settled and toned down Mariah.
