Radio really owes her a decent hit single. I guess they missed "Sandcastle Disco" and "Losing You" for them being too "mixed" in terms of musical styles but hopefully not again this time.

Now that she's back on Columbia, I hope they service some songs from the album to urban AC.

"Cranes in The Sky" is possibly my best first reaction to a song this year. Her voice is so magically, so soulful. This album is deep, its going to take a few listens to seep all the way in every part of your mind and soul, but it will. I'm so happy that she has made music like this and I hope people support her and end up giving her, her rightful dues for a great job.
Cranes In The Sky, is giving me female , Maxwell.

Been spinning this all weekend, letting it sink in. It's a solid effort but I have the same issue with this that I have with Frank Ocean's latest... and that's lack of variety in production and redundant tempo. Which really surprises me, because Saadiq has produced some amazing stuff. But thankfully, she's a better songwriter than Frank is IMO, so this album doesn't meander nearly as much and there is clear focus. And I can't help but say it, I wish Dev Hynes had handled some of this. When you find a producer that just GETS YOU on that level, I think she needed to explore that more.
I don't like this nearly as much as True. I'll probably get less mileage out of this than Hadley St. even though I can admit this is a better album. As for the whole Beyonce vs Solange thing. True is easily up there with Beyonce's best. This isn't even close to Beyonce's best IMO.

Losing You is still my jam. Also, I Decided Part II should've been a hit. I think a lot of people would be surprised that Sol-Angel hit Top 10 of BB200. So far I like what I hear and I've always rooted for Solange because she's managed to forge her own way despite the pressure of being in a huge shadow of Beyonce.

Very pleasant album but I agree with Ling-Ling that more Dev Hynes was needed. It's good to put on for rainy days or lounging around the apt. I love the booklet!

Really like the album and am hoping some of the songs will be serviced to radio. Still annoyed "Losing You" was never a big hit.

My only complaint is a few soulful uptempos would raise this album to beyond amazing. However because i smoke weed and chill, i enjoy the laid back flow and the lyrics and emotions are a hit with me. I love her so much. Losing You and now Cranes In The Sky are just unbelievable singles. i still like her last album slightly more, but this is pure love too.

First estimates have her debuting at #2 slightly behind Bon Iver with 34-38k (47-51k SPS); she would've hit #1 had physical been available (BI's estimating 49-53k; 54-58k SPS).
Solo Star debuted at #49 with 19 (112k to date).
Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams debuted at #9 with 46k (199k to date).
True debuted at #157 with 5k.

Is there a reason why SD is not longer available on Sol-Angel? The deluxe was released in 2015, but it excludes that track. I'm very pleased that ASATT is garnering such positive buzz.

I've been randomly singing Don't Touch My Hair and specifically the Sampha hook because it's just so damn catchy.

SOLANGE SURGES
Columbia's Solange is now in the running for the #1 position on our SPS chart this Friday with her A Seat at the Table, trending considerably better than most new releases. Monday marked the album's biggest sales day yet, an indicator of strong word of mouth for the R&B set, which is earning critical acclaim as well (and has been sitting in the #1 spot at iTunes for a while now). Messrs. Stringer, Klaiman and team are so happy that they've all decided to get their hair did. Stay tuned for updates.

I'm low key pissed it's not on Spotify, but the instrumental is. . . Yes. The instrumental and the long remixes are available for sale. Sadly not the Freemason's edit, which is awesome. Oh and it seems that ASATT is getting serious buzz that's translating to solid sales. It's probably a long-shot, but I'm assuming it made the Grammy cut-off. Would love to see Solange get some Grammy love.
