Took me four godd**n listens and watching the visual and i see the light. I love it. Im an 80s baby who grew up in the 90s in the midwest so these references are killing me. It’s different, it’s frustrating, it’s testing you which is what 👏🏽 music 👏🏽 should 👏🏽 do 👏🏽. go solange and tbh this visual is better than 🍋

This is just about the most agonizing listen I’ve experienced recently. There are a few songs that I like, but over all this is just a repetitive mess! Most of the songs (to me) are all “vibe” with little musical value beyond that. The transitions between tracks are often cleverly designed here, but they lead you right to another repetitive boring chorus. I was off work so i had time to really sit with it today and I’m soooo let down.
A Seat At The Table actually brought something to the table. Solange never made it home on this one. And I LOVE Solange.

Maybe it will hit me in a few months but as Solange fan I'm dissapointed. Her last album was perfection. This feels so experimental and all over the map. Lacks cohesion a point and melodies or songs that grip me. Maybe it needs visuals to make sense.
I appreciate her artistry but not feeling this album (yet) but I also low key respect an artist who does whatever the fuck she wants

More Black Excellence coming. I still stand behind the fact that her last album was essentially an art installation for the Pitchforkerati, but there were definitely some gems there and the production was stellar. Funny, I feel like this is a spot-on description for this album. I don't outright dislike it, but it's art for the sake of art; all ambiance without the distraction of deeper meaning. I imagine this being the music I would hear in the background at someone's all-white day party, or a black bourgeoisie country club.

Having suffered through it in full, I hate it and what it represents. The "visual film" makes it slightly more tolerable with the rando visuals.

I'm probably never going to see the film with it being an Apple exclusive, but I was hoping that would elevate it much more. Bummer.

She can keep this repetitive mess. This is a serious step down from A Seat at the Table. It sounds like she was completely stoned throughout the recording.

Currently has an 86 on Metacritic, but that’s with only 4 reviews. I wonder if it’ll remain that high.
