What spurred that? Around the time Solange gave birth to Julez she spoke openly about not only feeling restricted to making R&B but seeing herself as above it, flaunting her preference for "alternative music." Reminds me of her collaborator Dev Hynes who centers his blackness with everything he does now when, not long ago, he made the whitest music ever under the Lightspeed Champion moniker. I suppose both have come full circle so good for them!

I'm not really sure what "White music" is but I applaud Solange for speaking the truth.

If there are songs that compel you to dance at a concert, you dance. I can't think of a concert with music made for dancing where it's not acceptable to dance. She wasn't doing the jig in a museum. Also, those women apparently started dancing when there were songs they liked.

The tracklist looks kind of bizarre, but I'm so excited for this. Finally new Solange!

I saw Devonte and SCREAMED with excitement! I'm glad they patched up and I can't wait for this album. Her last full LP and EP are amazing.

The tracklist looks kind of bizarre, but I'm so excited for this. Finally new Solange! It's hard to tell what kind of album this will be based on the tracklisting. But the titles sound intriguing, particularly "Don't Touch My Hair". It seems like a concept album. I am curious about all the tracks with Tweet on them.

This album is so sleek and easy on the ears. I like every (full) song on it. Excellent instrumentation and vocal arrangements. I still think True is my favorite body of work of hers, but this is definitely better than her other two albums.
As for the interludes, I feel like artists should start putting them at the beginning or end of songs instead of them being their own tracks. It just seems like such a dated concept to me, with the way music consumed now.

Solange and Beyonce especially are the most overrated girls in urban music, this album is OK, but she is heading towards expired date for sure(and what an awful picture of her on front cover, how Beyonce allowed this???).

The album is a very good listen throughout but none of the songs are immediate to me. By no means bad, but individually nothing jumps out to me. I like pretty much the majority of the tracks, but there are none that just pop (no, I don't mean the 'genre'), you know? I will have to listen to it again and again to pick out favorites. I agree regarding the interludes; they work well by introducing the track each one precedes, but sonically they flow so seamlessly with the tracks they might as well have been part of them. True is still her best, even if it's just an EP, with her sophomore following. I'd rank this #3 and her debut as #4.
