I'm torn between great and good. Technically, it's pretty great--though she does have a few areas of weakness (distractingly slow vibrato, incessant sliding up to head voice at the end of her bigger notes, but these aren't deal-breakers). I don't love her tone, but it's not bad, she has a great range, usually good control, one of the strongest head voices in mainstream female singers.
I don't think she can emote to save her life, but I'm not sure if the poll question is asking us to factor that in or not. It seems to be asking about all aspects of her voice, so I'm going to go with "good." Keep in mind, this is not comparing her to the general public, but rather the singing world.

Like what do you mean? She's gifted... but that doesn't mean I have to "like" her voice. Her voice is just so weak to me... as in, she's like vintage Mariah without the oomph. Her voice lacks personality, and I lose interest in her very quickly. Yes, she has that ability to hit those whistle notes, but... I don't know, there's sopranos in my choir class who sing with 100X more passion and personality. She's boring. And we're just talking about the vocals...

I dont think her voice is weak, rather I agree that Leona Lewis has no personality to save her life. Her songs are bigger than her in general. She cannot deliver the right emotions to her songs at all. But I have to say her voice is phenomenal. Not something you can much often. I dont even get the Mariah comparison 'cause their voices differ on so many levels.

If you had never heard of Leona, and she sang to you, WHAT would you pick out of them choices? Yeah, she has a great voice with a big range. So do millions of girls in highschool choirs. IMO, nothing sets her apart other than pretty green eyes, a big rack, and Simon Cowell. By "weak," I mean, she has no power behind her voice. She's in the belter category, if I'm not mistaken. She sings power ballads. If you want to belt, POWER is a requirement. She lacks the power that Beyonce, Christina and Kelly have. She hits notes, but she doesn't tackle them. And I'm not talking about overindulgance... just style. The Mariah comparison comes from the fact that they both specialize in (and overuse) the whistle note technique. The problem is that Mariah could BELT those whistle notes. Leona... she just kinda hits them. No impact- hence my boredom. She just falls flat to my ears, even when she's hitting the most amazing notes ever.

Certainly one of the best out there right now. I'm not sure how that could be argued on a technical level, regardless of what you think of her music.

I voted for "good." I think she can sing well and has a good range. She has decent control, but I question her interpretive abilities. She does well with them on a song like "Bleeding Love," but she shows she can fall into the trap of overly maudlin disconnected vocal showcasing on a song like "Run." I think if she takes a little more time to select more material with which she genuinely connects, and thereby avoids this common trap amongst the type of female of singer many on Pulse tend to like, she will qualify as having at least a "great" voice.

When I first heard the song Better In Time, I thought Christina could've sung it better. I get what you mean now ;)

Incredibly overrated, but she's probably the greatest mainstream pop singer out there right now since we're talking about voice (technical) and not artistry (emotion).
Did someone just say Beyonce has power? Her voice is weak and shrill.
The "prime Mariah without the oomph" comment is spot on though.

It's technically great, and Leona has a very pleasant tone, but she needs to develop her own style.

She has a great/fantastic voice. She does have some technical flaws (goes flat on long notes, becomes thin above E5, slow/uneven vibrato), but the good outweighs the bad.

Great...she is proficient and skilled and hits a lot of the right boxes. However, she is wildly overrated. She's heralded as having this amazing range, but she doesn't (if I hear one more person talk about all these 'whistle' notes she hits, when in reality most are about an octave lower than whistle) live or on record. She's credited with having a lot of power, but I don't hear it. I can think of ten artists than can out sing her, stylistically, technically or otherwise. She also has a lot of irritating habits that quivery vibrato (which people defend as 'perfect' technique, and her hiccuping she does at the end of notes "I just want to beeUH HappyeeUH". Rounded off by a distinct lack of emotional authenticity and versatility - hold up, she's sounding more and more like a 'good' singer to me.

Incredible and certainly one of the best. Amazing skill and technique, great belter and beautiful head voice. One of the most emotional singers I've seen perform.

I voted great. There's no denying she's an accomplished technical singer. However, her mid range is weak and I'm not personally a fan of her voice.
