Why all the hate for Would You Mind? I love that song so much. The production and her vocals...mmm. So erotic! "Would You Mind" was never my favorite from her.

Just listened to this one, been trying to get into it but it just doesn't work for me. Probably my least fav Janet album next to Discipline. "You Ain't Right," "When We Oooo," "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)" and "Someone To Call My Lover" are still cool tracks.

I've been grooving to "Feels So Right" recently. For no particular reason....

Great album. Obviously not as good as her four big 80's and 90's albums, but this is my favorite 00's Janet album by far. I can't believe no one has mentioned "Truth." I love that song so much.
I really think "Trust a Try" and "Come On Get Up" should have both been singles, particularly the former.

I remember being very disappointed when this came out because it wasn't even close to the quality of the four albums that came before it. In retrospect (given the quality of the albums that followed it), it was a fairly strong pop album.

The "Truth" lyrics are pretty powerful.

Damita Jo is a much more cohesive album than AFY, in my opinion.

"All For You" (the single) topped the Billboard Hot 100 fourteen years ago today....

^ It definitely has a spring/summer vibe. It skyrocketed to #1 quickly and stayed there for seven weeks.....so it probably dominated much of that summer.

When I was 11, I would scream when "All For You" or "Someone To Call My Lover" would come on the radio on the schoolbus home.

One of the biggest drops in quality I've ever seen from an artist. After the masterpiece that was TVR, she released THIS? I was a Janet stan and FANATIC when this album came out, and even then I was like WTF.
Just abysmal. And in retrospect, it's even worse. The tracks I used to think were decent ("You Ain't Right," "Trust A Try," "COGU," "SOAG") sound awful and dated. That slog of sex jams is just ridiculous. Jimmy Jam and Terry brought nothing innovative or interesting production-wise like they had in the past.
At the end of it, all I'm left with is "All For You" and "STCML," which are both cute and enjoyable, but get almost not replay value compared to her other hits. And "Feels So Right," which is pleasant background noise.

To be completely honest, "When We Oooo" is complete trash to me. That & "Love Scene (Ooh Baby)" should've been omitted from the album. I love When We Oooo - never cared for Would You Mind, though. Same here. I love When We Ooh, but always skipping Would You Mind.

I'm still clueless how some fans put Damita Jo over this. SMH. I don't understand it either. I disagree completely that Damita Jo is a better, cohesive album. It has a couple of boring fillers like My Baby, Like You Don't Love Me, and Thinkin Bout My Ex. It lacks variety in its theme and lyrics. It mostly talks about sex. I feel like I have to be in a special mood for it. All For You, on the other hand, was a lot more easier to get into and had a bit more variety. It also talks about overcoming depression and betrayal.

^ Ok, I gotcha now. AFY definitely has standout tracks: "All For You", "Come On Get Up", "Trust A Try", "Someone to Call My Lover", "Feels So Right", "Doesn't Really Matter" ...... Hmmm - actually more solid than filler, if you ask me. The only throw away tracks for me are "Love Scene" & "Would You Mind", in my opinion. Those are actually my fave tracks as well. I agree that All For You is more solid than filler.

I love when we oooo! the instrumentals give me the goosebumps Love: All For You Someone To Call My Lover Better Days When We Oooo Come On Get Up Doesn't Really Matter Son Of A Gun Like: Trust A Try China Love Truth Okay: Feels So Right You Ain't Right Do Not Want, Ever: Love Scene (Ooh Baby) Would You Mind it's her best album this decade. not damita overrated joYeah, I have to agree. Damita JO is just 95% pure sex. I don't mind 2-3 songs about it, but when you let it become the vast majority of your album that's when I lose interest.

What do you all think of Janet's 7th studio album, All For You? I for one love the album, although not her best, it is definitely a highlight in her career. The only problem was that all the erotic songs were placed in a bunch in the middle of the album, which shouldn't have happened. It makes the album hard to listen to straight through because of the randomly placed 3-4 sex songs bunched together. I feel as though they could've done a better job putting the track-list together, but I don't agree with people who say that the "baby making" tracks were bad. "Would You Mind" is a masterpiece in it's own right- love it. Exhaleโข's Top 5 Picks1 | Trust A Try.2 | Come On Get Up.3 | All For You.4 | Doesn't Really Matter.5 | Someone To Call My Lover.I feel that way about Damita Jo, which has a lot more sex songs than AFY.

Yep, "China Love" is amazing. The material on the album is all together great, and the era was just excellent. I loved the colors they used for the promo campaign! Agreed, it had some great memories. Love that song as well. 2001 was a great year for music in general when nearly all my faves put out music.

Wow, my taste changed a lot since 2009. Truth is one of my favorites now.
This is her best 00's album, hands down.

Someone to Call My Lover is one of my favorite Janet songs ever! It was her last big hit, I don't know why she dropped it from her setlists.

It was definitely her most enjoyable fun album from that decade and sadly her last era when she was at her peak. It was the second Janet CD I had received after The Velvet Rope three years prior so I have very fond memories of this album. Loved it from the very start. It takes me back to my middle school years.

This album is just as good as Control thru Velvet Rope. It was after this that her albums became uneven until Unbreakable.

I like the album, however I agree with the posters regarding the album sequencing. Her team could've swapped some of the sensual ballads with "Someone To Call My Lover", "Doesn't Really Matter" and maybe "Feel So Right". "Son Of A Gun" is one of my favorite tracks (love how JJ&TL flipped that "You're So Vain" bass), but I sometimes question if it should've been the third single. Other than that I enjoy the songs that I named as well as "Would You Mind" and "Love Scene (Ooh Baby)".
