There are now 99 pages in the original Country News & Other Non-Singles Discussions -- which means the time has come for it to join Garth Brooks in retirement. So here is a new thread (Country News II) where you can post the same general country music news that you're interested in sharing and discussing. *A special thank you to everyone who has taken the time to post such great information for the past few years here -- your efforts are much appreciated!* I don't have anything special to add to it at the moment, so feel free to get the new thread started...

Burns & Poe added " Cowboy Stomp(ft. Cowboy Troy)" to their Myspace www.myspace.com/burnsandpoeWhat do the Dallas Cowboys and country duo Burns & Poe and Cowboy Troy have in common? Apparently a lot, because Keith Burns, formerly of Trick Pony, and Michelle Poe, filmed the music video for the Cowboy Stomp, the Dallas Cowboys' 2009 season theme song. Burns & Poe along with Cowboy Troy and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, taped the anthem on Monday inside the newly built Cowboys Stadium.

Great article about Brooks & Dunn in today's USA Today. Also, they suggested the Dolly Parton boxed set as a great Christmas gift! I agree!

The country music blogs have been putting up their best-of-the-decade lists. Country Universe is doing a The 100 Greatest Albums of the Decade list and they're already on Part 6: #50-#41. #50 Kathy Mattea, Right Out of Nowhere#49 Johnny Cash, American IV: The Man Comes Around#48 Jamey Johnson, That Lonesome Song#47 Faith Hill, Fireflies#46 Vince Gill, Next Big Thing#45 Carrie Underwood, Play On#44 Rodney Crowell, The Outsider#43 The Little Willies, The Little Willies#42 Trisha Yearwood, Real Live Woman#41Kris Kristofferson, Broken Freedom Song: Live From San FranciscoParts 1-5 are easy enough to find on the site. The annotations are making me want to beef up my collection with albums I never considered before. I'm actually way behind on doing that. For instance, I've always wanted to get the complete Trisha Yearwood catalog, but have never gotten around to doing it. I wish she had a box set that had everything.

The complete Trisha Yearwood catalog is definitely worth owning, IMO. Many, many times, the best tracks on her albums don't see the light of day as a radio single. A box set from her would be a must-have, if it existed. Real Live Woman is usually the album that is singled out as her best, but it's interesting to me that it was her first studio album not to contain a top 10 hit. I really enjoy RLW, but I wouldn't call it her absolute best. Third or fourth best, maybe.

Just an updating from a post in the other Country thread...
I made mention of Gretchen Wilson recording 'I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas' and I just found that it's available for download on iTunes. It's fun - I'm glad she picked a more obscure song to remake for the holidays.

^ I don't think there's been a Brad + Carrie performance (or parody) that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. I'm definitely signing the petition to Joe Galante and Sony Nashville requesting, nay demanding, a duets album from these two.
Anyway, I remember some posters here used to watch The Next Great American Band. Here are the winners, The Clark Brothers (now known as Sons of Sylvia), performing "What Can I Say" with Carrie.

Just wondering.........Did Bucky Covington ever release a video for I Want My Life Back?
In Country Weekly Magazine, I saw pictures of them making the video for the great song.

^^^I love the performance with Sons of Sylvia. It is one of my favorite songs on Play On. I hear they are going to be on the first leg of Carrie's Play On Tour 2010 along with Craig Morgan.

^ Question, Are the Clark Brothers/Sons of Sylvia the band that used to be called The Clark Family Experience? I remember seeing them open up for Tim and Faith in 2000.

Half right. Sons of Sylvia is three of the six brothers that comprised The Clark Family Experience.

I figured they weren't all in it because I remember TCFE having 6 members and of course SOS have 3. I just wanted to make sure. They were talented back then, I loved their song 'Meanwhile Back at the Ranch' when it was out!

That song was awesome! I think they had money issues after that though...did they ever come out with an album?

That song was awesome! I think they had money issues after that though...did they ever come out with an album? Yes, they did, but it tanked. Hard to believe that "Ranch" was once the 13th best selling country single ever. Indeed, the band did go bankrupt thanks to some lawsuit with Curb.

I still think Sixwire should have won Next Great American Band. ;) Aren't they the house band on Can You Duet now? Sure a big drop from a contract with Warner, isn't it? (Warner's had the worst luck with their roster of late; seems they can't even launch an artist lately. Just ask Lane Turner.) Trivia: Andy Childs had previously declined to join Sixwire, but he changed his mind after Brett James also declined.

Toby Keith is 'Artist of Decade,' Urban has 'Song of Decade,' Underwood has albumBillboard Magazine today announced that Toby Keith is the Artist of the Decade for 2000-2010. Over that span of time, Keith has sold 18 million albums and hit the #1 spot on the Hot Singles Chart 16 times. Keith was also named #3 on the Billboard 200 Artist of the Decade. Kenny Chesney was runner up. The only females in the top 10 are the Dixie Chicks at #9 and Carrie Underwood at #10. Keith Urban's "Somebody Like You" was named Song of the Decade by Billboard. The song spent six weeks at #1 in 2002 on the Hot Country Singles Chart. Other songs in the top 5 are, in order, "19 Something" (Mark Wills), "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" (Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffett), "How Do You Like Me Now?!" (Toby Keith), and "The Good Stuff" (Kenny Chesney). Underwood's Some Hearts was named Country Album of the Decade by the magazine. Released in 2005 following Underwood's "American Idol" victory, the album has sold over seven million copies according to the RIAA. The album finished #14 on the Billboard 200 Album of the Decade chart. Interestingly, females dominated the Album of the Decade chart. Following Underwood are Dixie Chicks, Fly (#3) and Home (#4), Faith Hill, Breathe (#5), and Shania Twain, Up! (#6). O Brother, Where Art Thou? was named Soundtrack of the Decade. The full decade charts are available in Billboard's year-end issue or online. SOURCE: Country On-Demand[/b]

I'm quite proud to call them very good friends. :) An off-topic side-note... Andy's sister-in-law just lost a battle w/cancer... so thoughts & prayers to the Steve Childs family on the loss of Laurel.
