...yes I did. I said Selena's voice is completely indistinctive and replaceable. Anyone could sing her songs. How can she be a 'good' singer rather than an 'average' singer when there is nothing about her voice that stands out? You're implying that I said she was 'bad' when I never said that - but good singing is about more that just hitting the notes and carrying a tune which from my perspective is all Selena has achieved. Miley has shown stronger vocal technique than Selena, both live and on studio recordings, and with her distinctive twang she owns her material when she sings it. Not like Selena's where anyone could sing the song exactly the same way and it's just a song - not really anyone's, just a song. Miley has also shown improvement over the years. Granted, Selena's only put out one album - but it's gonna take a lot for her to win me over with a follow-up. And it's not an insult to Miley to say that Demi's better than her. That's just common sense. You can HEAR the improvement Demi's made between 'Don't Forget' and 'Here We Go Again'. She doesn't yelp on the high notes nearly as much and I don't imagine her being able to pull off 'Every Time You Lie' the way she sounded on her first album. I was talking about Miley. You never explained why she was just "even" better than Selena rather than simply better, which is what I figured was an insult to Miley's voice. I already got your whole Selena spiel in the last post. Oh come ON! Now you're just picking apart semantics Miley is no world-class vocalist by any stretch of the imagination, but she is surely coming into her own. Lately she's been showing a pretty good vocal for what she's got, but there's no arguing that a few years back she wasn't all that fantastic to listen to. Does she still have room to improve? Most definitely. Will she ever be right up there with Kelly/Mariah/Christina/etc.? Never. That doesn't stop her from being a good singer - she still have that distinctive twang that makes her stand out.

You're a Miley stan. I was talking about Miley. You never explained why she was just "even" better than Selena rather than simply better, which is what I figured was an insult to Miley's voice. That doesn't stop her from being a good singer - she still have that distinctive twang that makes her stand out. Finally you somewhat answer my question. You think she still has room to improve, but she's not the best vocalist. Thanks. :) Anyway, anyone could have sung Miley's songs as well (& probably better), so don't act like "The Climb" & "Party In The USA" were only suitable for her voice. Hell the same could be said for Kelly Clarkson songs, Christina songs, etc. lol at Miley's country twang being her redeeming factor though... Also a Taylor fan shouldn't be talking about redeeming factors because she has NONE. With the exception of being able to write catchy, repetitive songs for pubescent girls.

Why does it seem like you're putting words in my mouth? I never said Miley and only Miley could sing her songs. Definitely, someone could come along and sing them better. But Miley is the one who made them hits, and people should know they're her songs when they hear them, because they remember the way she sounds when she sings them. I also never said her twang is a redeeming factor. From my perspective that twang can actually be quite polarising, BUT it is a distinctive characteristic of her voice that when you hear it, you'll know it's her. What I meant by 'redeeming qualities' is that she's shown she can handle songs that might be considered vocally challenging for her and can do it well. When she's on, she's on.
Also, what does Taylor Swift have to do with any of this? ???

Taylor, Miley, Selena & Demi are all basically on the same level (the only real difference is Taylor has sold much more). If we're comparing Demi & Miley against Selena, I don't see how Taylor is any different. Especially when we're talking about redeeming qualities.

And the same goes for Christina's Hurt and Beautiful. But to put my two cents in, I totally agree with Azriel. Miley def. has a more recognizable voice to say the least, and she put her own spin on PITUSA. Sure, Perry/P!nk/Clarkson mighta sung it better, but Miley made it her own. Selena on the other hand kinda just sings the songs. Naturally is a great song with a pleasant voice on it, plain and simple.

^ I was never arguing that Selena had a more distinctive voice? lol I never even commented on her voice really except early on when I said she could sing ok.
Also I never said Selena nor Miley could sing Kelly or Christina songs better. That's just putting words in my mouth. :)

Taylor has songwriting ability though (along with Miley and Demi). Selena is hot, this song is good, but I can easily say she is less musically talented than Taylor, Miley & Demi. Now acting is a different story...she easily creams Miley and Demi there.

^ I actually noted that on the post before my last one. Selena Gomez had written songs for this album, but they were too personal (for her standards I guess) so she scrapped them. Two of them were called "Beautifully Disturbed" & "I'm Sorry." She wanted it to just be a fun album for her fans so "I Won't Apologize" was the only one of the songs she co-wrote that made the album. I wouldn't say Selena's hot though... she's quite cute. Yeah acting, there's seriously no competition between her & the other two.

I'm pretty sure everyone thought the same but I really think that Open House Party opened the door for this single. If they didn't play it last weekend, it probably wouldn't be doing so damn well. It's getting new spins every day by more and more stations.

OMG at it being #11 on iTunes. If "I Gotta Feeling" & "Down" would just GTFO & die already, this would be top 10.
Nice spin update yesterday!
