Green Day was extremely popular and respected. They could have at least added KOL first. fixed

What are some of the other categories you guys are looking forward to besides GF and Female Pop Vocal?
I'm excited about the Gospel categories. I really want Karen & Donnie McClurkin duet to win "Best Gospel Performance". Then I want either Kierra Sheard or J.Moss' albums to win "Best Gospel Album". I also want Kathy Griffin to win "Best Comedy Album". I live for her.

I'm excited for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Comedy Album (I also want Kathy to take it home), Best Female Country Vocal Performance, Best Dance Recording and Best Electronic/Dance Album. A few of the R&B categories as well.
Here's another one of my favorite Grammy wins:

I'm looking forward to the Rap categories. R&B is usually predictable, so I don't really care about that this year.

I wish RCA knew the academy was going to lean more towards hits being nominated... "My Life Would Suck Without You" for sure would have gotten a nomination in Best Female Pop Vocal.

Yep, it's weird that they added MLWSWY to that album instead of AG that was the song the label sent for nods. It's pretty safe to say that MLWSWY would have been nominated if they sent it instead of AG.

It isn't weird that they added MLWSWY to the album instead of AG. AG didn't get a nomination. She's nominated for album and they put the biggest hit from her album on the grammy cd. People really read too much into these things, everyone nominated in pop vocal album are on the cd and it looks like everyone nominated in Pop vocal are also on the cd. That doesn't mean that song would have been nominated because they chose the more popular tune. They saw her name and skipped it for vocal this time.....we gotta accept these things.
Now the really weird part is Maxwell not being represented, I realize they clearly skipped R&B but come one, he is nominated in the general field. Oh well....I gotta accept that there is no love for RnB on the grammy cd. Maybe next time.

Hey--- did you guys see the Grammy commercials on CBS last night during the People's CHoice Awards?
Kings of Leon was mentioned as performing, so I think they will be announced later on.

Hey--- did you guys see the Grammy commercials on CBS last night during the People's CHoice Awards? Kings of Leon was mentioned as performing, so I think they will be announced later on. I saw that as well! And I kept thinking, I don't think they were ever officially announced :o so that is very cool! Go KOL!!! We need Eminem and Jay-Z now!

^ yes they need to add Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye, etc- as there is not that much Rap/Hip hop on the bill yet. Gotta be fair to every genre.
They mentioned an ensemble number, so I am sure that is the MJ tribute.
I hope they announce presenters soon too...but they seem to save that for the end. I am Just getting antsy. lol

I wonder who will win Alternative Album, I want YYY's to win (duh!) they have been nominated twice before and both those times were beaten out by the white stripes. So this year they might actually take it! I think the biggest threat is Phoenix.

I know its obviously very early but I was wondering what songs people think are competitors for the General Fields as of yet. Obviously there is much more music to be released still within the eligibility period so I'm just talking about music already released.
I pay the most attention to mainstream music so that's really the only place I'm going to pull from. These are the contenders as I see them as of now.
Empire State of Mind- Jay-Z and Alicia Keys Bad Romance- Lady Gaga Sweet Dreams- Beyonce
I am sure there are more. All three of those are critical successes and monster smash hits. All of those acts are also Grammy darlings with the exception of Gaga who has yet to prove herself to be but with her nominations and major buzz headed into this years award show Im sure she'll become a Grammy darling.
Thoughts? What other songs seem to be in the VERY EARLY running for next year?

^ I like your picks so far...
I would add "Cowboy Casanova" for the country slot for Song or Record, as so far, that is one of the biggest country songs of the new Grammy year.
