1. Are you the Christian/Gospel Poster of the Year? You should want Christmas songs on the chart. 2. Realistically speaking, some Christmas songs should be charting at this time of the year. That we had to wait for the second week of the new year to get some is a long enough wait. Not all Christmas music is religious, in fact, most Christmas music (even the ones that originated in scripture) I would say is largely interpreted at secular at this day in age. I feel like lots of people who aren't Christian will still listen to Christmas music and a lot of people don't really "hear" the message because these songs are so deeply rooted into popular culture at this point. Also, they just mess up the charts and take up space. That's why I truly don't care for them. And here as someone who doesn't celebrate Christmas (because shock not Christian) I'd be happy to never hear Christmas songs on country (or rock or any non Christian radio). But I've given up on actually listening to the radio around Christmas. By the way, winter wonderland aside, almost all Christmas songs are religious. They're only "secular" to people of Christian backgrounds: Santa is from Saint Nick.

Well Kacey has two songs in New and Active this week (Christmas Don't Be Late and Feliz Navidad), so perhaps you will change your opinion? For country airplay chart specifically, I don't see much problem from Christmas songs charting because they really have little impact there. Hot 100 is another story.

Oh, THOSE songs country radio will play!? *rolls eyes* That didn't used to be the case though! Country songs used to make it into the 30s and 40s regularly, not just the very bottom of the chart

Is it me or does the Most Added section seem off? Beautiful Crazy got 47 adds and Miss Me More 33?
EDIT: I guess I have no idea. Luke doesn't surprise me as much as Kelsea, but if they were added on that many stations shouldn't they have seen more of a jump?

Lol @ Billboard writers trying to do damage control on the hemorrraging of the genre. The terrible decrease in sales continues (after a terrible decrease last year, while streaming still struggles).
Yet the first headline article of the new year features artists with "fresh new sounds" like "trailer trap", "hooky uptempo", "Daughtry undertones", "poppy energy", "swagger and modern production" and "pop-leaning hooks." Later, they oogle over Russell Dickerson's unique combination of "poppyness on top of the super country banjo."
You know the genre's in a good place when trailer trap and poppy energy are fresh new sounds...as long as you've got that super country banjo!

I thought the fact that Jon Langston's song was charted on main chart would make him ineligible to chart in New & Active this week?

I thought the fact that Jon Langston's song was charted on main chart would make him ineligible to chart in New & Active this week? There have been other times that a song has been in the New & Active section after being on the main chart. My impression of New & Active is that it’s similar to the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, reflecting the songs with the most audience below the top 60. So if a song falls from #59 to #61, for example, it would be eligible for New & Active as long as it hasn’t been sent recurrent. That’s just my impression; I could be wrong.

Once a song entered Hot 100, it will never chart on bubbling under even if the song fell off from hot 100 but had enough points to chart on bubbling under.

Like recordyear said, the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart is actually a bit different, but you ( classiccountryfan) are mostly correct in your assessment of New & Active, as it pertains to the Country Airplay chart. The New & Active section simply lists the first six bulleted songs (songs that gained audience in the last week) below #60. So it's not necessarily songs 61-66, but rather the first six songs below #60 that gained ground during the tracking week.

They screwed up the boxscore section again. And, had a whole extra day for proofreading.

I hope they get the reporting on this tour right at some point while it’s still going on.

Whoever does the boxscore reporting needs to get their facts straight cause Kacey’s DC show was sold out. I can testify that it was because I was there. Could it be that they are trying to undermine her?

Could it be that they are trying to undermine her? That is true. She even said that. I think the venue’s website says 6 or 7k, but that doesn’t mean that was her max. I think that’s standing room on the floor anyway and she had seats set up. Eta: I’ve been suspicious of some of the mid and end year pollstar reporting too. Some of the #s don’t seem to jive when you drill down to actual shows. I wonder if it’s self reporting and artists are being shady. 🤷♀️

Could it be that they are trying to undermine her? I thought the same thing, but I think Anthem can be configured to hold up to 6,000, but it depends on the artist to determine the capacity for that particular gig.
