I do not want to hear this.
With a title like that, it's clear to see this band, like so many of their constituents, have mailed it in officially. It's as if they aren't even attempting sincerity, like they were, say, with "Voodoo." Judging by some comments in this forum, a caricature of themselves is what this band has become.
Ugh...Godsmack, like most of their nu-metal counterparts, are not progressing but regressing. And that is a problem.

In case nobody knows the story behind this song, a lot of people are saying that this is a slam track directed at Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue because of the way he treated Godsmack on the Crue Fest tour. Apparently Sully had a really terrible time on that tour. Godsmack hasn't confirmed this yet though.
If that's the case, it reminds me a lot of a single with a similar story, Sevendust's "Enemy".

As this is one of my least favorite Godsmack singles, not surprisingly, "Enemy" is my least favorite Sevendust single. And while the story may be true, it seems to me this title had to have largely been "inspired" by the success of the Sick Puppies song "You're Going Down" on active rock. The line "But don't cry like a b***h when you feel the pain" has to be the most standout, memorable (cringe-inducing) lines in the song. I bet Godsmack heard it, thought wow we can make a whole new active rock smash out of this line, stole it, and now are well on their way to a future active rock #1.

Apparently Sully had a really terrible time on that tour. Ooh, now I'll have to listen to it again with that in mind! It might make it tolerable and more fun. For the record, the fact that "Enemy" was about Dez Fafara made an already bad song worse, even if he is/was an asshole to Rayna, who was Morgan's wife at the time. Musically, I still prefer Coal Chamber over Sevendust at the end of the day.

I'm the opposite. I tried to get into Coal Chamber but they just didn't do anything for me. Sevendust has some pretty memorable melodies.

I finally heard this because my computer here at work has a virus, which has all my music saved on it. So, I'm forced to listen to my mp3 player that hasn't been updated in probably 3 years and has radio on it. My local Alternative station doesn't come in here at all, so I've been listening to my local "Rock" station all day which actually played something new and this came on. To no surprise I think it sounds basically like every other Godsmack song I've ever heard.

Ooh, now I'll have to listen to it again with that in mind! It might make it tolerable and more fun. This is exactly what happened when I heard it on the radio today. I hung on Sully's every word and imagined everything directed at Nikki Sixx. Even if it is just a rumor, it gives the song an identity rather than it being just a faceless, aggro rock song with a shallow, chest-thumping title. For the record it's splitting hairs caring about who to "side" with in this case, as they're both a couple of lunks. I think I'm subconsciously inclined to side with Sully, though, because Godsmack are from my generation, whereas Motley Crue hasn't been relevant as a current band since Dr. Feelgood, 21 years ago.

I understand editing the title to properly show the apostrophe and the omission of the "g", but did you really have to add the two exclamation points?

Ahh. There is an exclamation point there (only one, though), but everywhere I've seen the official title the exclamation point(s) aren't included.

That would be awesome, they only have like 3 singles that charted on the Hot 100.

agreed with Artie other than his awful format which makes searching for threads by title very difficult. Keep the artist before the song

Have to go with Artie on this one. The thread title looks messy. Nice to keep things tidy ;)

The exclamation point on the single cover is almost as unintentionally funny as their t-shirt from the '90s that said "Whatever!" on the back of it.

Didn't quite make it into the top 40...
**-74 Cryin' Like a Bitch - Godsmack
But it did become their highest charting single to date.
