I think they're done. Although if they do release a 6th, I'd like to see Sin With a Grin.

Don't wet/soil yourselves now, it's just a song reaching #1. However, congrats to them.

They should now push this to HAC and CHR. Then release "What a Shame" or "Cyanide Sweet Tooth Suicide" to end the era. Then, NEXT ALBUM!

I don't think Cyanide Sweet Tooth Suicide or any other rocker song from the album will be released as a single. According to Shinedown, after the release of If You Only Knew, they confirmed that another 2 singles will be released in order to complete this era, the first was The Crow & the Butterfly, now about the 2nd I think that their best choices are Breaking Inside and What a Shame, but I must admit I prefer the first one. It's not impossible though to go and release a rocker tune only for the rock radio, but I found that idea weird, they should end this era, in a way that most listeners would prefer. From where I stand I see Breaking Inside as their last single

From where I stand I see Breaking Inside as their last single I think they should just end this era here. "The Sound of Madness" is not positioned high on the Billboard 200 right now, and they've now released all the clear single candidates to radio. They do have some mildly radio-friendly cuts remaining, but that's the case with mainstream artists in general and I'd prefer to see them come back strong their next album era with a chart-topping, more aggressive rock song than to peak below the Top 10 and fall quickly with a more aggressive rock song as a sixth single. I do agree they should send "The Crow and the Butterfly" to Hot AC and Mainstream Top 40, however. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

A few scattered thoughts to respond to other thoughts:
This isn't officially #1 unless it stays there tomorrow. It almost definitely will, but that's a closable gap for Disturbed, at least for a Monday BDS #1. This probably will also be shut out of #1 by Ozzy on Billboard this week and then by Disturbed the following week.
As far as the rest of this era goes, 5 singles is certainly enough; that said considering recent history with Nickelback, Daughtry, and Theory Of A Deadman...and with the Carnival Of Madness going through the summer, they might as well keep going. While I certainly agree with "Breaking Inside" and "What A Shame" as good single choices (not as much the case with "Cyanide"), I would really root for them to close out the era just as they close the album. I think "Call Me" just feels like the beautiful song that should wrap up this epically successful era for them. If they wanna release 9 singles, then fine. But I say they should pick a # of remaining singles whether it be 1, 2, 3, or god forbid, 4...and just make "Call Me" the final one.
And before anyone lambasts me for it, I realize that 8 or 9 singles off this album, all of which would be aimed at active rock/alternative, is absolutely ridiculous and most likely won't happen.

I think they could still keep the record for most Top 5's on Active if they release another rock radio single. And I still think "Crow & the Butterfly" could possibly reach Top 40 and Top 20 on CHR and HAC, respectively

metalfan87, i think in most of our conversations so far I had similar opinions with you, I'm afraid this time i'll disagree, I think nickelback has the potential to release 9 singles, just remember that from ATRR they released 7 (2 of them only rock singles animals), and from their most recent 8 singles international (3 of them only rock singles Something in your mouth, burn it to the ground, shakin' hands), in their next album only god knows what they will try...

I think they should close this album's era, now. Maybe sending this to Hot AC and CHR/Top 40, but that's all. I don't want them to ruin the fantastic streak of top 5's and the songs I wanted the most to be singles have already been. Plus, the album came out around two years ago, it's time to let it go. Now, I don't believe they will ever create a record I enjoy as much as this one. The Sound Of Madness may be my favorite album of all-time by any Mainstream Rock radio staple in terms of rock ballads.

Apparently this eked out "Another Way to Die" this chart week to get them a week at #1 with this single on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
It's official: four chart-topping hits on this format among five releases.

I may be wrong, but I think they are the first to get four #1 hits from the same album on Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. That's quite an accomplishment...

Pretty sure The Black Crowes were the first to do it. U2 and Aerosmith missed four from the same album by less than 100 spins each. Not sure if it's happened recently.

Bring on "What a Shame" to end the era and I will be happy. And please send this to CHR/HAC soon before the hype goes down...

Please send this to CHR/HAC soon before the hype goes down... To be honest, I think it's too slow and dull to cross over to pop radio formats. Maybe if they had another crossover hit or two under their belt they could get away with it, but I just don't see this being successful with mass audiences the way "Second Chance" and "If You Only Knew" were. Frankly, I was surprised at how well the latter did.

Their videos are always a bit meh. Such great songs but the videos never match the emotion or power of the songs.
