Diana Birch seems like the only notable one on that list and she was snubbed last year. Pitiful.

The Best New Artist contenders this year seem more intersting than the ones last year at least. But idk who I actually see being a front runner, Ke$ha yeah cause Tik Tok was huge, but ehh she doesnt seem Grammy worthy to me. Justin Bieber will get nominated but idk I could see him being like the Jonas Brothers when they were nominated. Id love Orianthi to be nominated and win but idk either. Its all up in the air.

^ I am not saying I agree with those picks for BNA necessarily. lol Don't worry I didn't think you were, I just found it sad that they're real contenders for a Grammy

If the Grammy's change their BNA rules, Diane Birch may get a nom this year but right now, she cannot land a nomination for BNA because she was submitted last year. I thought for SURE she was getting 7 nominations (AOTY, ROTY, SOTY, BNA, Pop Vocal Album, Female Pop Vocal, Music Video - all for "Nothing But a Miracle" & "Bible Belt") But maybe this year she can get a couple nods: BNA (if rules change) Female Pop Vocal, ROTY, SOTY, & Short Music Video ---> all for "Valentino".

Um, no. Diane Birch is allowed to submit three times if she hasn't yet received a nomination. No rules changed.

Rule for BNA is haven't yet release third album in us, can't submit more than three times and didn't have a nomination in the past.
so Birch is safe.

Any new bands/groups eligible for BNA? Last years BNA category had only one solo artist as a nominee, I won't be surprised if the same thing happens this year.
I doubt Lambert will even make the cut. The only Idol they've nominated in this category so far is Carrie, and her sales then could not be ignored. Not necessarily the same case for Adam. Even Daughtry, who had hefty sales, didn't get a BNA nod (although he did get some Grammy nods)
Is The Script eligible for this category?

Just because she is the type of artist that grammy voters love, doesn't mean they would nominate them all the time. She aint all that imo, and her sales and critical reception has been underwhelming.

Monica has Best Female R&B Vocal on lock. I'm sure Sade and Alicia Keys will get nominated in this catergory as well. For BNA I'm 100% sure Ke$ha will get a nomination & maybe Jason Derulo. Empire State Of Mind will get at least 2 nominations as well.

Alicia is probably the front-runner. The verdict isn't out yet for Sade. She could go Group or Solo.

53rd GRAMMY Awards Slated For Feb. 13, 2011Music's Biggest Night will air live from Staples Center on CBSApril 13, 2010 - 3:00am GRAMMY.comThe 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place in Los Angeles at Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, and will air live on the CBS Television Network from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). As a result of last year's earlier show and Awards process dates, this year the eligibility dates for the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards are Sept. 1, 2009, through Sept. 30, 2010. (This year will mark a 13-month eligibility period.) The date for the GRAMMY nominations announcement — which showcases GRAMMY Award finalists, the year's best and brightest in music as voted on by The Recording Academy's membership of music professionals — will be announced shortly.
"The 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards was a dynamic, memorable evening, and it delivered our highest ratings since 2004 and the biggest year-over-year increase in more than 20 years," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. "We have every intention of keeping that momentum going with our 53rd show, and once again we are thrilled to be bringing the excellence and excitement of our GRAMMY Week events and charitable initiatives to the city of Los Angeles. We also look forward to working on another outstanding GRAMMY telecast with our partners and good friends at CBS and Staples Center."
"The 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards will once again be event television with exciting and memorable performances that will entertain and engage our audience," said Jack Sussman, executive vice president, specials, music and live events, CBS. "We look forward to working with our partners at The Recording Academy to make Music's Biggest Night an event that can't be missed."
GRAMMY Week — a weeklong series of cultural events culminating in Music's Biggest Night — will again feature celebrations of music, fashion, arts education, and philanthropy, including the Salute To series, GRAMMY Style Studio, GRAMMY Career Day, Clive Davis and The Recording Academy's Pre-GRAMMY Gala, the annual MusiCares Person of the Year tribute, the GRAMMY Foundation's Music Preservation Project, the Entertainment Law Initiative luncheon, a Producers & Engineers Wing event, and GRAMMY Museum programs, among others.

I bet Telephone will be nominated for Pop Collab, and Gaga/Beyonce will be asked to perform it at the Grammys.
Bad Romance is going to get lots of love, I think.

Alicia will probably win something, and I expect Gaga to scoop up more nominations. I cannot see Lady A being snubbed too hard. They have had a fabulous year.

This should be interesting. I wonder if Team Carrie will rush release SWISLY to make the eligibility period. Who would win the Grammy? MirLam for THTBM or Carrie for SWISLY?

Album of the year contendors: Lady A Jay-Z Sade FAIL! EMINEM WILL GET IT..... How is it a "fail" when we are not 100% sure if his album will come out in time (pushbacks for rap artists are relatively common) and have yet to hear the album? His last album didn't get in, so.... Also, Jay-Z will get a great # of nominations. Don't kid yourself.

This should be interesting. I wonder if Team Carrie will rush release SWISLY to make the eligibility period. Who would win the Grammy? MirLam for THTBM or Carrie for SWISLY? It would be super difficult to choose between the two tracks. Both are among the best country songs in the past few years.

Miranda Lambert deserves an AOTY nomination. Very unlikely though, something more commercial and less Country, like Lady A will probably get nominated instead. She should easily nab a few nominations in the Country field though.
