RCA, by far!
They've screwed so many things up, that if I were an artist, I would NOT sign with them. They pick bad singles, they sometimes slack on promoting, and they are greedy. The only era they ever did good with is Breakaway (and even then they had some mistakes like not releasing Gone and Addicted as a single while the era had a lot of momentum left). Just in the past year, they messed up Kelly's, Daughtry's, and Christina's eras whom all had huge success in the past. I would go through all the mistakes they did with those eras, but it would be so much that I'm not going to even bother. Not to mention, they also picked bad single choices with Ke$ha and Adam which hurt both eras.
Jive does good sometimes, but a lot of the time they just don't care at all. They basically destroyed Allison's whole career, and ruined David and Jordin's first/second album potential (with the exception of Crush/Battlefield). They are still bad, but not nearly as bad as the horrific RCA.
I would say Island Def Jam is last because they don't have as much big artists to screw up. I think they did bad on Rihanna (releasing Rockstar 101 instead of Te Amo) and Mariah's latest era, but that's all they have to screw up, so they win (if you want to call it that).

RCA: they are just so out of touch with what is currently radio-friendly. Jive: Cheap as hell IDF: Don't get me started, but they do well by Rihanna when they want to.

tbh Rated R seems like something Rihanna wanted. Do we know if it was the labels' decision to choose Rockstar or her decision?

Rihanna never wanted to release neither te amo nor rs101. she has said countless times that firebomb and cold case love are her fave songs on the album.

It's a shame because the Rated R era could've been so much bigger. Another horribly handled era, although at least they got it right with Hard and Rude Boy.

RCA of course. Unless you're their pet project of the moment, you're sure to get screwed over, zero promo, or have to wait a year for your next single to be released.

WB and Hollywood by far, might as well throw in Capitol. Not far behind though is RCA/Jive Label Group a merger of RMG (RCA Music Group) and Jive. The biggest problem with RMG (RCA, Arista, J, etc) is that as "Tempest" pointed out they are completely out of touch with what's currently radio-friendly. They need a complete A&R overhaul. They are usually great when it comes to promotion but just horrible at A&R especially when it comes to selecting singles. It's no coincidence that so many of their artists are flopping or under performing lately: Christina (RCA), Kelly (RCA), Leona (J), Alicia (J) and soon imo to join the list Jennifer Hudson who was apparently told to go back to the studio to record a bunch of "Arentha" and "Gladys Knight" songs Sounds like a flop already *sigh* RMG . I don't understand why IDJ is on the list ??? They have done an incredible job with Rihanna and she has one of the best teams in music when it comes to A&R. Sure they have made some mistakes this era but overall they are top notch. After RR underperformed a label like RCA Music Group would sit on their ass for months instead of rush releasing another single. IDJ saved this era for Rihanna with their quick thinking.

I agree with what you said about Rihanna but what about the other artists? They dont always show the same initiative for everyone?

Capitol.....for R&B/Hip Hop artists. Damn right! They basically didnt promote "Not Anymore" when LeToya released it as a single. It barely made it to Top 10 Urban. And then, when Urban picked up "Regret" on it's own, that was a HUGE SECOND CHANCE for Capitol to get LeToya's era back on track, but then they ruined it by not attempting to film a video until the single peaked at Urban radio, and still giving her next to none promotion. It didn't even go for Rhythmic adds. That song could have easily went Top 20 Rhythmic.

I only really know how RCA have handled Adam's career, but I think they've done awesome with him! Jive is good at first singles, but not much else. They screwed over Allison and are messing with Kris's career right now too..They also really messed up Rihanna's latest era.
