I'm going balistic here, even though I figured his new album would be coming this year. I'm guessing that a single should be coming at the end of this month or the beginning of September.

Yep, hopefully shortly after I'm In's run is over (which will hopefully get a week at #1)!

I'm In needs to peak - fast. And he needs to rush release a single to release an album come October or November. And he'll have the Taylor Swift juggernaut to compete with ... Oh boy.

Doesn't look like I'm In is going to get to #1, which is really sad because I'm sure they would have been able to if they really wanted to.

Can't wait for his new album! Hope it's more like Love, Pain and The Whole Crazy Thing then like Defying Gravity. Loved DG but it definately wasn't his best!

Yeah, would definitely prefer an album of the caliber of Golden Road or Be Here than LP&TWCT.

LP&TWCT is the album that made me a KU fan. I didn't like much of his music before "I Told You So".
Needless to say, I'd much rather a new album closer to LP&TWCT over Be Here or Golden Road (even though I do like those albums now).

Correction: We need the album to be here. I say Keith puts out a unique-styled album better than all his previous releases.

^ I agree. Hopefully, "Put You in a Song" will go #1 since I really want him to have a #1 this year. Sad he didn't get it with I'm In. :( Oh well, now that I think of it, Get Closer sounds like a pretty decent album title. I'll pick it up before RF's CD if I had to choose.

i told u so is a very close song that is on par with be here and Golden road, as is sweet thing and kiss a girl...most of the other tracks from last 2 albums are missing magic that songs like who wouldnt wanna be me and making memories of me had

^Yeah, that's why I prefer those albums compared to his two most recent ones. Somebody like you, Who wouldn't wanna be me, You'll Think Of Me, Days Go By, Better life, etc. had that "magic" that made keith who he is. Don't get me wrong, the last two albums produced some amazing songs like stupid boy, i told you so, etc but if Get Closer can produce as big of hits as Golden Road and Be Here did then that would be amazing.

Lyrics to "Put You In A Song" Source: www.countrymusictattletale.com/2010/09/09/read-the-lyrics-to-keith-urbans-new-tuneWell here you come again and you’re lookin’ so fine You don’t notice me but it’s alright I’m just a guy who wishes that I could be your man someday Yeah a picture paints a thousand words it’s true But it’s still not enough for how I feel about you I wanna put you in a melody, I gotta set you to a groove (Chorus) I wanna put you in my car and drive And turn you up loud, roll down all the windows and shout it out I love this girl oh If I could press play, repeat how happy I’d be Wherever I’d go I’d have you there with me You’d be right where you belong I wanna put you in a song, oh oh oh Well I’d sing about your smile and your pretty blue eyes The way your hair shimmers in the sunlight It’d be so easy I’d just write it from my heart ‘Cause I gotta tell the world what you mean to me Wrap you up in a melody so you’ll be Stuck in my head all day ‘Cause you’re already there anyway, yes you are (Chorus) I wanna put you in my car and drive And turn you up loud, roll down all the windows and shout it out I love this girl If I could press play, repeat how happy I’d be Wherever I’d go I’d have you there with me You’d be right where you belong I wanna put you in a song And if I get it right everybody’d be singing along yeah And when they see you on the street they’ll say Hey ain’t you the girl in that song (Chorus) I wanna put you in my car and drive And turn you up loud, roll down all the windows and shout it out I’m in love with this girl Yeah if I could press play, rewind a couple million times Imagine for a moment that you’re all mine Every night I’d drive you home If I could put you in a Let me put you in a song Let me put you in a song Oh a pretty little song about you baby Also: new studio session video: www.keithurban.net/album_blog.html

The only word that comes to mind is boring. *sigh* Let's hope the rest of the album has some better songs.

Really? I think it's pretty catchy and radio friendly and will do well for him. But yeah, I do hope this isn't the best song on the album and I don't think it will be.

It is catchy and it'll probably be a radio hit but to me it's nothin special. It seems like I'm listening to one of the songs of DG but just a little reworked. I was hoping for something a little more meaningfull...I don't want an entire album in honour of Nicole Kidman again.

Yeah, I do agree with the DG feel. This song definitely doesn't have that "magic" that we were all hoping for.

Starting to get a little tired of PYiaS to be honest. But in recent Keith Urban news: Keith posted two options to his facebook to get his fans's opinions on what cover would be best for his album! I think the first one is way better, it also has way more likes on FB as well.

I love the first one, but the writing is better on the second one.

The second one looks creepy with the headless body behind him.

Boo at only 8 tracks. I guess I'm going to Target.
I was blessed to see Keith perform "up close and personal" at my company today. It was mostly Q&A, but he did perform Put You in a Song and Shut out the Lights (plus Better Life as a request song). I like Keith's recorded music, but I absolutely love him as a live performer. He's just so full of energy and charisma. I could watch him perform all day.
Shut out the Lights is about that expression, "Don't go to bed angry," but when you and your partner are just too tired to resolve the issue. So you have to give it up, and decide you'll resolve the issue tomorrow.
He talked a bit about his writing process. He frequently uses drum machines while he works out the melody, and usually composes the music first, then the lyrics.

I imagine I'll end up with the Target version as well. But I'm very curious what they will price the 8-track version at.

wastedtimewww.keithurban.net/index.php?page=album_blog&b_id=19488 The second song he does there is a snippet from "turn out the lights" from a studio session in september. Perhaps he changed the lyrics from "turn" to "shut"? Does it sound like the same song kungaloosh? Also agreed, I absolutely love watching keith do solo acoustic performances.
