The top 20 Hot AC and Pop smash is now top 50 in AC:
47 43 PARAMORE The Only Exception 41 27 14 0.201
This is hand-crafted for this format. I will eat my shorts if this doesn't smash.

This is so acoustic that if it doesn't go top 20 here, I call these stations and inquire about their illogical choice.

Really can't imagine mainstream AC getting into this - it's acoustic, but the sound is really different from anything that IMO AC listeners are used to

If Lady Gaga can chart on AC, "The Only Exception" should have a much easier time. This really should be a no-brainer.

Lady GaGa's hits were huge though, and a lot of them sounded like 80s Madonna - Paramore's hit is not so huge, and it doesn't sound like anything else AC is playing (past or present) AC doesn't necessarily give huge advantage to slower songs - most have slogans like "We play upbeat, familiar songs to get you through your workday" not "We play slow songs to get you through your workday"

While it was a decent hit on Hot AC radio, this song skidded to a quick halt after a rapid run up the Hot AC and CHR charts, and then fell apart really quickly. I'm not sure why as I doubt people all got tired of the song at the same time. Sounds fishy, just like a payola type of situation to me. Oh.....did I say that?!

I think too many people disliked it (it's initial callout was high, but when more people became familiar with it, stations realized too many people couldn't stand the song, and took it off their playlists)

Another major Hot AC hit from earlier this year that hardly anyone is playing now is Orianthi's "According To You". It's receiving very little recurrent airplay, none here in Chicago except from our Hot AC leaning AC station, Fresh 105.9. The Mix dumped this awhile ago, probably to make room for the more pop-leaning music it's been playing lately. But again, this was a major Hot AC hit, but apparently everyone who dug this song six months ago can't stand to listen to it now! I'm not buying that though. Again why are a few stations still playing it as a recurrent but everyone else dumped it? Oh well. At least it's still in active rotation on my Ipod "station"! And so is "The Only Exception", which I don't know why so many people would dislike this either. Other than Hayley's girly voice that might sound a bit too pop sounding for some adult listeners, I'm not sure why this fell out of favor so quickly. But good for those stations still playing it, and hopefully it will grab hold at AC radio as well.

I thought Hayley Williams was the "it" girl of 2010. Anyhow, "According To You" gets recurrent play on the Y101 here and even AC Mix 98.7 plays it. Back to "The Only Exception", I don't think I agree with the lack of being upbeat as to not getting good reception on AC. I can buy into not testing well, but it doesn't sound any different than other lower tempo songs I may hear on AC.
