So two Demi songs that are not singles of hers. So no third single? So many artists have been getting just one big single, a moderate second single, and then that's it. Kesha, Justin, Miley, Kelly, and now Demi. At least Pink is going for a third. Kelly had a first big hit?

She should open for Britney. Not sure she can headline on her own.

Just got around to watching the video and hearing the remix, lol. I must say its pretty awesome. Way better than the album version. Video looks like it cost a fortune. Highest budget video ever? Or no? Doubt it was 7 million dollars, probably 1 m or something like that.

600k in actual. So another 400k to go, physically. Since she's coming to the US to tour, I hope she and the label are smart enough to promote this. But, I guess it's literally enough to certify since they count streams? They dont count streams to certify albums riaa have confirmed this multiple times

Guys im pretty certain its riaa only certifies albums based on raw sales, they said that when the bb charts changed to sps. Also on their website under certification requirements for albums ot doesnt say anything about sps or streams counting to an album.

Do overall radio updates ever get posted, how is this doing on radio songs, rather than genre specific charts.

Ugh, only 4 CHR adds, although that includes KDIS and KMVQ in Los Angeles and San Francisco, the second and fourth largest markets. What are the first and third?

Unofficial lyric video. The streams count towards the Hot100, right? When will Rhena's team?
These streams will not count, if you go on the video and look in the description, there is no recognition of the track by youtube. To see if there is an official recognition by youtube (where streams count) it will say the artist, the song and album with links to itunes.

I don't see a change in their sound at all, the only reason that the songs might now sound different is the landscape of what is played on pop radio has changed, and thus their sound has changed (Just like Britney has always done pop, but her songs sound different). Thats what this band has been from the beginning pop pop pop, they have always catered to the preteen to early 20's crowd, or basic white suburban Beckys. I never saw them as some credible rock group that broke through the mainstream or something. So for me their sound didn't change, just the trends on pop radio.

I like the song, its really chill. But Rihanna gets a bit shouty in it, I wish they would re-do the vocals. And im not a fan of the abrupt end.

Up to number two on the BB 200 this week, wonder if he can take the number 1 slot back soon. Also at number 2 in the UK and was certified 6X Platinum yesterday, matching '+'. Perhaps it could eventually go 10X Platinum if it keeps selling this way.

I kinda had a feeling it wouldn't do so well. They seem to have put a lot of money into this project overall I doubt they will see much of a return at this point. lots of US promo, all the main award shows, SNL, Late night shows, Daytime shows in an attempt to break her in the US market as an album seller. I wonder if they will give it as much of a push here in the UK as they did stateside and it will be interesting to see the results. Even though she is british I don't feel that she is any more successful over here than in the US.

Slaylor. Does breaking the spins record mean anything in terms of what it tells us about radio - is radio a growing medium? Are more people listening to radio? Are stations now just playing all the same songs? This is more a question for here rather than "Blank Space"'s thread, so I went ahead and moved this here. The spin and spins per station records are consistently being broken at least once a year since "California Gurls" did it back in the summer of 2010 when it broke 13,000 spins and something like 85-ish spins per station. Now 13,000 spins get you to the top 4 if you're lucky and 85 SPS puts you at 14,960 spins, which still is barely top 3 or 4 given the week. Now the spin record being broken multiple times ultimately means nothing. It's a great achievement, but the panel size fluctuates all of the time. It's currently 175 stations. Back when "California Gurls" broke the record, the panel was around 155 stations. However, the SPS record continues to break every year as well, and that's where the real story is. If that is getting broken, that means that songs are actually getting played more and more. And since it's being broken so frequently, this likely means that radio is playing the hit songs more and more frequently. Honestly, no one is really sure why this is happening. I'm afraid with "Blank Space" surpassing 18000 spins so easily and becoming the second song to surpass 100 SPS, something was unheard of until "Rude" first did it a few months ago, this probably means 20,000 is right around the corner. 110 SPS is coming. Where will it end? Are we eventually going to get to a point where a station is playing the same song every 30 minutes? Every 15? Literally every song is just the same hit over and over? Thanks that cleared it up for me, kinda what i expected. Interesting that more and more hit songs are being played a lot. I dont really think this is a good thing though i like variety. Is this an attempt to get more people to listen to their stations i wonder. Id like to know if ratings of radio are up or down or stagnant. Would the AI of songs tell us anything like this. How often does the AI record get broken? Or would that just tell us the same as the SPS record?

I wonder how long Myah has been working on her new album. I wonder if Britney knows there will be an album out this time around.

I'm so excited to hear this. I think this could have an even bigger first week at radio then "Hold It Against Me" did. If they hold off on this until the competition is a little bit weaker I think this could debut at #1 on the Hot 100. A mid January release would be great. I don't think that would happen now, everyone said the same about WB. not a chance in my opinion, hopefully I'm wrong but I just don't see it. A 20 - 10 debut or peak will be more likely. Also Im throwing it out that 1st single will be Jan 9th and album will be March 17th.
