Still bitter that KIIS and AMP skipped over Already Gone. It went top 5 and the only time KIIS played it was during the AT40. Those two stations ruined its chances of hitting #1 or even top ten on the Hot 100. Naw - no way two stations can ruin a song's chance of hitting #1 if it peaked at #5

102.7 KIIS FM:
Skipped: Kris Allen: Live like we're dying, Script: Breakeven, Kelly Clarkson: Already gone; Daughtry: No surprise; possibly Maroon 5: Misery there were many others like Cascada Evacuate the dancefloor, Michael Buble: Haven't met you yet but since these did not make top 10, I am not considering them. Basically, a majority of the songs that they decide not to add appear to be from white AC artists. I think out of all these I was most upset that they skipped over breakeven so I actually e-mailed them and they were very nice to respect my feelings but basically said that KIIS does not like to play a lot of slow songs so I guess that explains why they overplay more rhythmic tracks and are more quick to add rhythmic artists. However, if this was the case then they should have still added Evacuate the dancefloor because this was a dance song.
Overplayed: Rihanna: Rude boy, New Boys: Tie me down, Usher: OMG, LMFAO
AMP:
Skipped: Basically any song from a white artist: Lady Antebellum, Script, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Kris Allen, possibly Maroon 5, One Republic, I think Adam Lambert, Shinedown, Paramore. I think the only one they did not skip which I was surprised was Train: Hey Soul Sister and I think they only added this because KIIS added it.
Overplayed: Jamie Foxx, New Boyz, Kayne West, Rihanna, Usher, LMFAO

These two stations aren't just any two stations- they are in the second biggest market in the US... that's a great deal of AI and exposure that a song misses out on. If they would have spun the song 90 times a week, AG would have added +180 to its weekly spins. It was a huge hit with other radio stations, and even went to #1 on Z100's playlist. It's horrible that our LA stations tend to overlook great pop-rock songs and whore the hell out of rhythmic songs. I really want them off the CHR panel for good.

Almost all pop/rock songs miss out on exposure on L. A. CHR though - it's been like that since the mid-90s - tons of songs have hit #1 without KIIS playin them - it's essentially rhythmic (same with KAMP), and other stations know that

Star 105.7 in Binghamton: Skipped: I don't think they ever ignored a #1, but they tended to drop certain songs pretty quickly because they added songs weeks in advance. Whored: A whole lot of alternative-leaning songs and rhythmic songs that barely hit the top 40. I remember hearing Seein' Red a lot.

Q100 is really slow at adding songs - Still haven't heard (ever)... J. Cole/Workout Drake/Headlines Breathe Carolina/Blackout (on the radio) Jay-Z/Ni---s In Paris Pitbull/International Love Gym Class Heroes/Ass Back Home (on the radio) David Guetta/Turn Me On Outasight/Tonight Is The Night
and almost everything below that (that isn't played on Hot AC)
As far as playing stuff too much, I feel like It Girl and Mr. Know It All have been in power/medium-power for months - they're good songs, but if you lived here you'd never guess that they only peaked at #11

I'll go by my hometown CHR, DC's WIHT Hot 99.5! Hot 99.5 is pretty middle of the road, so they don't skip songs too often unless they lean very urban (etc., Say Aah by Trey Songz). However, they tend to WHORE the crap out of Hot AC sounding songs.
Whored: Shakira - She Wolf Miley Cyrus - Party In The USA Justin Timberlake - Sexyback Usher - Yeah! Britney Spears - Toxic Jay-z/Rihanna/Kanye West - Run This Town Selena Gomez - Naturally Matt Nathanson - Come On Get Higher Pitbull - I Know You Want Me Keri Hilson - Knock You Down Kardinall Offishall - Dangerous f/Akon Jesse McCartney - Leavin Chris Brown - Forever Beyonce - Halo & Sweet Dreams Kelly Clarkson - Already Gone Train - Hey Soul Sister ANYTHING LADY GAGA (Especially Telephone, Bad Romance, Alejandro, & Just Dance) Enrique Igelsias - I Like It f/Pitbull Jay Sean - Down f/Lil Wayne Britney Spears - Womanizer Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow & I Gotta Feeling (but I think every CHR whored out these songs) Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart f/Ludacris Nicki Minaj - Super Bass The Script - Breakeven Jason Derulo - In My Head B.O.B. - Airplanes Shakira - Hips Dont Lie (Still whore this out today) Sean Paul - Temperature Rihanna - Break It Off f/Sean Paul Eminem - Lose Yourself
SKIPPED Trey Songz - Say Aah Lil Wayne - Got Money Trey Songz - Bottoms Up (literally had it added for 2 weeks) Nicki Minaj - Everything but Super Bass David Guetta - Memories Keri Hilson - Turnin Me On (added for like 2 weeks) Chris Brown - Look At Me Now & She Aint You Young Money - Bedrock (added for 2 weeks) Kelly Rowland - Motivation

I don't listen to my CHR a whole lot (The Border 106.7), but I know that it once played "Ridin' Solo" twice in a row. Haha

During the Breakaway era my one station loved her so much it was almost sickening and I love Kelly. They seriously had all of her singles in rotation at once at one point and even then would occasionally play Miss Independent. They should have just changed the name of the station to KellyFM or something. It was fun as a fan though because I could basically just listen to her cd without needing it on me.

Only 2 or 3 of those are "Hot AC-sounding songs" ???

However, they tend to WHORE the crap out of Hot AC sounding songs. I'd add Rihanna's "Rude Boy" to the skipped list. They didn't actually skip it, but they seemed to drop it awfully early. One AC sounding song they underplayed was Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now"; I never heard it on WIHT until it was a major national hit and when they did play it it was usually a techno-dance remix that I loathed. Michael Buble's "Haven't Met You Yet" was really whored IIRC; it hit #1 on the WIHT playlist (as posted on their website) but only got about halfway up AT40. Lately I've heard "Yeah 3X" and "Stereo Love" quite a lot for songs that were national hits nearly a year ago (though I like "Stereo Love"). And while I like One Republic WIHT must like them more, as the station runs almost all their songs into the ground, especially "Good Life", for which they even altered a line to "My friends in Washington...".

Only 2 or 3 of those are "Hot AC-sounding songs" ??? I just realized that, lol I forgot all of the Hot-AC sounding songs in my post, but Mkarns posted them above me. It may not seem like alot against all of those rhythmic sounding songs, but trust me atlantaboy, if you lived in DC, you would see what Im talking about. If it's a Hot AC sounding song, they will whore it out ALOT more than any rhythmic song on that list. EDIT: Speaking of songs that are skipped, did anyone realized that Jessie J's "Domino" is getting absolutely no play on 102.7 KIIS-FM in Los Angeles?

Z100 never skips songs but they played Second Chance by Shinedown a lot less than they should have. Going back several years they skipped Angie Martinez featuring Lil' Mo and Sacario: "If I Could Go!" because Angie worked for WQHT 97.1 (Hot 97). It peaked at Number 11 on Billboard Top 40 Mainstream.

especially "Good Life", for which they even altered a line to "My friends in Washington...". They actually altered that line for most major U. S. cities - not sure if the stations did it, or the label...

Here in Detroit, every single station still whores the CRAP out of Give Me Everything. Like I can't go an hour without it coming on, and I just can't stand it. That and every single Rihanna song. For some reason, though, they haven't played Ellie Goulding's Lights, no matter how many times I request it.

Most of Chris Brown's recent singles (except those listed above) have been overplayed there. When I've listened, at least, they've really whored Gavin DeGraw's "Not Over You" lately; same for Cobra Starship's "You Make Me Feel..." and Britney Spears' now recurrent Femme Fatale-era hits (especially "Till the World Ends"). And One Republic's Ryan Tedder may have cut a lot of different city-specific lines for "Good Life", but his friends in Washington won't let go of it. OTOH, they appear to have cut "It Will Rain" way too soon. And they may have played a lot of Selena Gomez' "Naturally", but seem nearly done with "Love You Like a Love Song", which is now only #40 there while still top 10 or close to it nationally.

My CHR is still playing T.H.E. and has it in their top 20. Wasn't that song dead on arrival? It should have been!

I swear, if I hear "It Will Rain" one more time on the radio here in the Detroit area, I will purposely drive my car off the road and into a crowd of people. Okay, not really, but still. I don't think anybody still requests it (it's ALWAYS on), and the DJs act like it's the #1 song on the globe and has been for as long as it's been out. It still comes on 3 stations at once very often, each station plays it at least twice an hour, and they play it during peak listening times the most often. Somebody needs to tell the DJs to cut it the f*ck out right now.

98.5 KRZ still has "Sexy And I Know It" in power rotation. Does anybody seriously still like that song? Luckily they don't play songs every hour like a lot of stations, but it's baffling why they're holding onto it for so long.

Which Detroit station? WKQI or WDZH? Not sure what their names are, but there's 98.7, 100.3, and 95.5 that keep playing it. I do know the name of 96.3 WDVD, though, and they also seem to have it on power rotation.

I guess the Boston NKOTB overplay can be attributed to them being local; under that theory I'm glad I didn't live there from 1988-90 (then again it might not have made much difference as they were overexposed everywhere then.) If that fails you can always come to DC for respite. As I mentioned above, the main CHR, WIHT, dropped "It Will Rain" while it was still in the national top 10.

YTD rank: #1 100.3 = Hot AC Gave it 67 spins this past week and it is their most played song. ^Oh. I guess 95.5 doesn't play it that much, but the other stations make up for it. You can't go half an hour without hearing it on one of those stations.
