^ I think we'll probably only get one more single either way, since they'll probably want to leave a bit of time between the last Play On single and the new album's lead single, like they did between ITYS and CC.

I wonder what the last single will be. I'd guess it's between WCIS, SLT and maybe SWISLY.

I hope the last single is WCIS, SLT, or Quitter. I love all of those. I just feel like if SWISLY were to follow Mama's Song, it would be kinda strange even though they are separate songs. It would just be a strange order. First Carrie is saying she has found the man of her dreams, and telling her Mama that she'll be alright...And next she's trying to recover from a breakup and contemplating laying in front of a bus. Haha.
It's weird to think we may get a new album next year...It seems like each era goes by faster and faster. I know PO hasn't even been out for a year yet, but I'm ready for another album Haha. The new single could be out by late summer if Carrie follows her formula. That's just strange to imagine. :o

The era would kind of feel unfinished if SDWISLY wasn't released as the last single, but it would seem weird, and ballad overload. WCIS or Unapologize. -- This era could've been HUGE for her if done right.

I still think one of the upcoming projects ("You're Lookin' At Country", Randy Travis duet, Lindsey/Hodges co-write) will be serviced to radio next. And, "Mama's Song" will function as the final single from Play On.

So many wasted opportunities with this album

So many wasted opportunities with this album That's an understatement. This era had HUGE potential. The singles were just not done right, at all. They started off strong with Cowboy Casanova, and the variety show was awesome, and it allll went down hill from there. It's a shame, really.

I think CC and TH were OK one and two, but MS should never have been a single. Perhaps a fifth single when all the momentum of the album was done. If MS really is the last single, what a waste.

I agree. Perfect lead single choice and the rest was a mess. The first era, I think, where the singles were completely wrong. I would have gone CC --> SWISLY --> Q --> WCIS. Honestly, I think we'd be at 2+ million at this point if those were the singles.

Carrie was just nominated for 6 American Country Music AWards! They show airs on December 6th on Fox! www.theacas.com/dev/index.phpYou can vote everyday on this site, but it is not working that well yet. I think the announcement officially comes out on Monday. lol Artist of the Year (Overall) Female Artist of the Year Album of the Year - Play On Single by a Female Artist - Cowboy Casanova Music Video by a Female Artist - Cowboy Casanova Touring Artist of the YearSo many wasted opportunities with this album That's an understatement. This era had HUGE potential. The singles were just not done right, at all. They started off strong with Cowboy Casanova, and the variety show was awesome, and it allll went down hill from there. It's a shame, really. Agree. I think CC was the perfect lead single, but I would have gone with SWISLY second, or even WCIS second, then Quitter, then Undo It in the late summer. I would close it out with TH maybe but I would have totally avoided MS with a ten foot pole. lol I do think the album would have sold much more if they had picked better singles. I also hate that they gave away all 4 singles in the itunes preview thingy. Usually, people don't release all those songs as singles as there is no surprise factor then. I was very shocked to see that her team released all 4 itunes singles, as radio singles. That was kind of anticlimactic.

This album could have been the one to bring Carrie to superstardom. She's a country superstar, of course, but I feel like Play On had the material with potential to get her some significant CHR and HAC airplay. "Cowboy Casanova," "Quitter," "Undo It," and even "What Can I Say" could have done pretty well.
I really want "Someday When I Stop Loving You" released, but I don't see it happening now. Pity.

I have a feeling 'Mama's Song' will be the last single off the album. But if they decide to go with a fifth, my guess is they'd choose 'Quitter' or another Carrie co-write.

I agree, that this era could've been so much better. This album is so great from start to finish. And I can't believe Carrie's team did not take the ball and run with it, when it came to promoting CC or UI to other formats. I mean, no one is saying to remix them, but to not even try to do a LITTLE promotion was just a complete waste of an amazing opportunity. I'm really disappointed about that, and I don't think I'll ever get over it lmao. I'm still not over the fact that they didn't do anything with "Last Name" from the Carnival Ride era lol. Although now that I look back, LN may have been too country for other formats, and probably needed a remix, which I knew Carrie would not want. But CC and UI did not need remixes, which is why it is such a shame.
As for the last single, I know Carrie said we'd get 6-7 singles from this era, but if her next album is coming out next Fall, I can't see there being more than 5 singles from this era.
It's hard, because I thought she'd go with WCIS next, and then SLT or Quitter to end the era, but it if we get one more single only, it will probably be WCIS. I just can't see Carrie not releasing this.
Unfortunately, I do not see SWISLY getting released. I never really saw it being a single, although it should have been and still should be. Unapologize should've been a single as well. It would be nice for Carrie to release a country single (Quitter or WCIS) and release Unapologize to Hot AC and maybe CHR lol. Hey, a guy can dream.
With the theme of "Mama's Song", I can't see Carrie releasing a guy-bashing single next, or a single about a breakup. Which is why "Songs Like This", "Someday When I Stop Loving You", and "What Can I Say" don't really make sense as the next single. So I think "Quitter" would make the most sense for the final single. But I just can't see WCIS not getting a release. If WCIS and SWISLY both remain as album tracks only, there will be a huge fan uproar lol.

Can't say I'm the biggest fan of "Undo It" and "Mama's Song" being singles, but I still the the biggest mistake this era was not somehow getting "Cowboy Casanova" to crossover. It was/is just too perfect/unique/catchy to not do amazing there if it was given the chance.

If I was in charge of choosing the singles for this era, I would have done:
1) Cowboy Casanova 2) What Can I Say 3) Undo It 4) Temporary Home 5) Quitter
If she wanted to go 6-7 singles in, as it seemed she had originally planned, I would have squeezed SWISLY and either Unapologize or SLT in there somewhere.

Seems like SWISLY is the IKYW of Play On. And since we're giving our single orders, mine would be:
1) Cowboy Casanova 2) Temporary Home 3) Songs Like This or Undo It (UI sounds more of a summer single which is why it was successful) 4) What Can I Say 5) Quitter 6) Someday When I Stop Loving You

Every album people say the same thing: oh, the singles could've been huge crossovers, had they prometed it correctly. The question that remains is: do Carrie and her team really want it?

This is how I would've done the singles.
1. Cowboy Casanova 2. Someday When I Stop Loving You (While Cowboy Casanova is sent for adds on Pop & Hot AC) 3. Undo It (Country, Pop & Hot AC) 4. What Can I Say (Country, Pop, Hot AC & AC) 5. Quitter (Country, Pop & Hot AC) 6. Temporary Home / This Time (Country only)

I'll save you 2 hours of listening time, Carrie's segment was just prior to Bob Kingsley playing Mama's Song. You can download and listen to the clip from my site.

Here are Carrie's submissions to the Grammys:
AOTY - Play On RDOTY - Cowboy Casanova SOTY - TH Country Vocal - TH Country Collab - WCIS Country Song - TH Country Album - PO Short Form MV - TH
How interesting. No UI (which is good, IMO). I think CC could score some noms, I really do. TH was the way to go for songs though. Here's hoping guys!

I see her getting all the country submissions, easily. And she might win unless Miranda sweeps it from under her, which she could. I would love it if TH was nominated and then won...

Interesting about the WCIS submission. What do you guys think this says about its single potential?
I feel as though if she were planning to release WCIS as a single, she would have held off submitting it until next year. Here's hoping this means she's planning on releasing SWISLY instead.

^ Agree that WCIS being submitted could be a bad sign that it is NOT going to be a single. Dang! Bad decision, Carrie team. When Brad's team submitted Oh Love, it was not a single, ever. :(
I think they should have went with Cowboy Casanova for Country Song and Female Country Vocal Performance. CC has done much better then TH in terms of crossover and digital sales. It also got a ton of promotion in the mainstream with last year's AMA performance and the Holiday special. I just think the voters would have went with CC over TH for Female Vocal.
The CMAs snubbed Temporary Home and CC, but at least the ACMS nominated CC for Country Song. Many of those same people vote for the Grammys. But the critics did not like TH that much as many didn't "get it" especially in more mainstream papers. I feel like CC would have given Carrie a fair run against Miranda's THTBM, but now THTBM will smoke TH for sure.
Then again, I think Miranda has the Grammys in the bag this year anyway, so it would be really hard for Carrie to win no matter which song she submitted.
I just hope she gets nominated and attends the Grammys again, at least to present maybe if she doesn't perform.

I think TH was the right way to go, but I agree...it would be hard to compete with Miranda this year.

All I see is a bunch of bitching about everything she's ever done(not just from you) and it gets so tiresome. Personally, I think the only song that could compete with Miranda's THTBM at the Grammys is SWISLY.
