I know Carrie wants to stay true to country but I would love for her to release just one crossover album. More people need to hear that voice of hers. for her next album i want the first three or four singles to be very country, then have a re relase with the lead of the re release be very popish ex cowboy or undo it, and give it add dates and promote it. I don't think she needs to be 'very pop-ish' to crossover. Her team just needs to promote her at other formats. If they had done some promoting at CHR and Hot AC with CC, I think Play On would have already been 2x Platinum and probably approaching 3x Platinum. Not to mention how many more fans she would have gained, since it has been a while since the casual Top 40 listener has heard Carrie on their radio (last time was BHC). UI was another opportunity for them to do something, and they didn't. I am fully certain now, that they have no interest in expanding her boundaries to other formats...I hope that changes in the future, but unless she gets new management or something, I doubt it. I don't like pop mixes of country songs, especially the cheesy dance mixes. But if Top 40/Hot AC/etc wants them to maybe tone down the steel guitar or fiddle, to make it a little more appropriate for their station's format, I don't see what the big deal is (I don't like full-on remixes with completely new instrumentation). As long as they keep the original version of the song as the only one available for sale, fans of the song are going to buy the song in its original form anyway, when they buy the album, or the song on iTunes. Personally, I don't think CC or UI needed remixes at all...just a push from the label. Then again, thanks to Taylor, other formats now expect country artists to cater to them and remix their songs if they want any attention from their stations.

Quit trying to make it seem like Taylor is the sole-reason country artists have to remix their songs to pop in order to have a substantial-sized hit on that format. Have you ever heard of Lady Antebellum? Shania Twain?

Carrie, however, had a hit with BHC on Top 40, and it wasn't remixed. Then Taylor came along and started remixing after that. Not to mention that Faith Hill and LeAnn Rimes managed to have some crossover success without remixing. LeAnn Rimes did remix "Can't Fight The Moonlight" but that was from a movie soundtrack.

"Redneck aria." I'm a little in love with that phrase, and I've got to say, if there is a better way to describe a song like "I Know You Won't," I haven't heard it. I like that review despite its lack of specifics -- it's nice to read Chuck Yarborough's enthusiasm about Carrie's growth as a performer, just as it was satisfying to see Cindy Watts lead off her Tennessean review of Carrie's Nashville show by saying that Carrie has grown more as a performer in two years than many artists do in their whole careers. I'm curious to see if Jon Caramanica of the NY Times covers Carrie's Nassau Coliseum concert this Friday. I disagree with Typo somewhat in that I don't think Caramanica's recent write-up on Carrie was totally positive, but he has certainly been a vocal admirer of Carrie's voice. He has his moments of smart insight and good writing whether he is being critical or complimentary, so his take on a Carrie concert may be a good read. In theory, anyway.
About "You're Lookin' at Country" -- I quite like Carrie's approach to it; slowing the song down into a more coquettish track works well with the lyrics and suits Carrie's voice. Carrie's phrasing is excellent for the first half, but I wanted her to sound more playful and fluid for the double entendres of the "Well this here country is a little green" verse. I have a feeling she would work this out live after a few performances. The instrumentation sounds surprisingly crisp for a Mark Bright production, and if that's him, it continues a promising trend from some of Play On. It's the vocal recording that does make me think it's Mark Bright producing; I'm beginning to feel like he ought to let a little more air into Carrie's recordings, because her voice almost sounds too clarified to me. Carrie's tone is really attractive and I certainly prefer to hear the nuances and resonance of her voice as much as possible (in other words, the current state of things is much preferable to her voice having to compete with a kitchen sink full of instrumentation). But I still feel like her studio recordings would benefit from more of a 'live' feel (I feel the same way of Byron Gallimore and the Sugarland album). Still, overall, I like the track quite a bit.
I think that the likeliest 'crossover' market for Carrie these days is the CCM/gospel market, based on her involvement in the Narnia film (cutting through the wretchedness of that Swedish boy band's performance, the song appears to be straight-up CCM, probably according to the parameters set out by the filmmakers) and her part in Soul Surfer. Radio might be trickier given that Carrie also sings songs like "Last Name," but there are other ways to reach that audience. Randy Travis spent most of the 2000s recording Christian-themed/gospel material with a traditional country sound, and I've been thinking that his duet with Carrie could end up being in that vein, as well.

Not to mention that Faith Hill and LeAnn Rimes managed to have some crossover success without remixing. LeAnn Rimes did remix "Can't Fight The Moonlight" but that was from a movie soundtrack. Then why don't you just get over it? You act like Taylor is slapping her country roots across the face by remixing a song and sending it to pop. Country radio plays country and, consequently, pop radio plays pop. You know very well that if a pop artist tried to crossover to country without using a country remix of the song (this very rarely happens) it would flop hands down. So why should it be a different story for pop? If Taylor wants to find crossover success she'll remix the song and find success. If Carrie wanted that she'd do it as well, but she doesn't. Another thing that should be noted is that pop radio has changed since 2006, something I think some of you Carrie fans should have drilled into your brains. Even in 2006, it was tough to have a solid crossover hit. Nowadays, pop radio has an even tougher time playing any country song without a pop remix. It's just the way the cookie crumbles... I'm sure this is all just Carrie fans being jealous of Taylor's success anyways.

^ The guy standing behind Carrie looked so surprise when Carrie said she would never have packed up everything to head to Nashville when she was young.
"How's our song doing? How's our song? Our video is #1" LOL Mama Underwood is adorable.

Great review fromt he toronto star : www.thestar.com/entertainment/music/article/885573--carrie-underwood-at-the-acc-she-sings-she-scoresLike her hockey-playing husband, Carrie Underwood knows a few things about scoring. Twenty-four hours after centre Mike Fisher spearheaded an Ottawa Senators victory in a squeaker over our beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, Mrs. Fisher, a.k.a Underwood, returned to the scene of the crime — the Air Canada Centre — and netted more than 14,000 fans with two hours of riveting crossover country pop. If you weren’t a convert prior to the show, you would certainly have been so afterward: The most successful American Idol champion of them all pulled out all the stops in a nearly two-hour show that rivalled fellow divas Pink, Rihanna and Taylor Swift for dramatic props. With yet another multimedia extravaganza that’s becoming a little too common these days, Underwood proffered animated backdrops, a half-dozen costume changes, massive hydraulics, recreated enchanted forests and even sang a duet — courtesy of pre-taped video — with country superstar Randy Travis on “I Told You So.” But the thing that took it over the top occurred when Underwood stepped onto the back of a blue pickup truck midway through the show, and the truck soared through the air and flew around the ACC as she sang a cover of John Denver’s “Take Me Home Country Roads,” followed by “Undo It,” crowd cellphone cameras flashing away incessantly as the audience roared their approval. Strangely enough, the eye candy — as spectacular and garish as it sometimes appeared — didn’t detract from the true star of the show: Underwood’s magnificent voice. Man, can that girl wail! Whether it was on key climax points of songs such as “I Know You Won’t,” “Someday When I Stop Loving You” or “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” which she splendidly detoured into the classic “How Great Thou Art,” Underwood’s powerful pipes were undeniable, even overpowering an eight-piece band that already had the volume knob on its speakers cranked to 11. Although the Grammy-winning Underwood chose the more stylized route — a good mixture of fast and slow material, tender and strident moments — the visual accompanying the music was never far behind, whether they were powerful country rock tunes such as “Before He Cheats” and “All-American Girl” — with the word “Canadian” substituted for our neighbours to the south when the opportunity presented itself — or sensitive heartfelt ballads such as ‘“Temporary Home.” In truth, Underwood, who had a hand in writing a good half-dozen of the 24 tunes she performed, didn’t need the display: She could have stood on stage with just a microphone and the phone book, and the crowd would have been equally enraptured. But in these days of sensory stimulation, Underwood knows where her bread is buttered and knows that the fans want to be bombarded with tricks and surprises. Luckily, the music holds up, especially with a performer as gifted as Carrie Underwood.

I listened to "You're Lookin At Country" a couple of days ago and i was really impressed by how versatile Carrie's vocals are. It's a totally different style for her and she pulls it off in a very remarkable way.

I was looking over Carrie's events calendar and noticed that aside from Stagecoach and Country Concert, there's another festival date for 2011 already on there. Jun 25, 2011 Cadott, WI Chippewa Valley Music Festival Also, according to the fan club (invisible info which I couldn't see until after I logged in, oooh), Carrie will be part of a CBS holiday special. She'll tape a live mini-concert (3 songs, several times) Nov 14th at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square. FC members get first dibs on tickets.

I think it's great Carrie and Robin are friends like that. It's always good to have the media on your side. Although Carrie doesn't have to worry about tabloid crap, it's nice to know there are people out there who will only tell the truth, and only tell what the artist approves. Carrie has a great relationship with media and over time I think that'll work in her favor. I feel like Robin is the journalist Carrie would be, had she not become Country Music's newest Queen.

Nekesi Mumbi Moody is a music writer and editor for the Associated Press, and tweeted the following earlier tonight:I don't think AP does concert reviews (album reviews, yes, but not concert reviews), though I could be wrong. So maybe she is just going because she can, and has no intention of writing anything about it. In any event, I thought that was a nice comment.

Not really...he praises her voice but pretty much says that's all she cared about. But, I've seen worse reviews. And for the most part, this tour has gotten pretty good reviews.
