Too bad she lost but as the cliche goes, to be nominated and be one out of five of all the available movie songs out there is a feat.
Here is the E! Red Carpet interview in HD.

I'm upset that she lost, but then again, Diane is a freaking great who deserves her dues, even though they are way too late... and also, she wrote one of my favorite recording for Carrie: LESSONS LEARNED!! =)

^^ IMO, 'There's a Place for Us' was undeserving of a win, simply because the song was just not a high quality song in multiple ways. That being said, I am a bit upset that Christina's 'Bound To You' did not win. :(

Aw, too bad about Carrie, but a nomination really was a win! Hopefully she'll be asked to sing in other movies.

I don't understand why hardly anyone seems to like "Look at Me." I think that it's beautiful, to be honest. It should never be considered for a single, but it's a great song. Do I feel a song ranking coming on? I think so... From what I've observed, I think plenty of fans really like Look At Me, including me. But, like you said, it's not being talked about because it will most definitely not be a single, considering Carrie's words about how the song is too "mushy" for her. Then again, who knows, it's possible she has changed her mind, but I doubt it. Anyway, Look At Me is in my Top 3 favorites of the album, with the other 4 being What Can I Say, Someday When I Stop Loving You, Temporary Home, and Cowboy Casonova). Those 5 songs are, in my opinion, the gems of the album. I'll attempt a ranking for you: 1. What Can I Say 2. Someday When I Stop Loving You 3. Look At Me 4. Temporary Home 5. Cowboy Casnova 6. Songs Like This 7. Undo It 8. This Time 9. Unapologize 10. Change (#9 and #10 are virtually tied) 11. Mama's Song 12. Play On 13. Quitter If the next single isn't either Someday When I Stop Loving You or What Can I Say, then my picks would either be This Time or Songs Like This, but I won't lie I will still be very disappointed. Carrie stated her favorite song on the album is Someday When I Stop Loving You. That song has been praised by both fans and critics as being the best song on the album and among her best songs ever. To not release that song after all that just would not make sense at all. I will agree with many others that the single choices this time could have been a bit better. Cowboy Casonova was an excellent start. Even though Temporary Home isn't everyone's favorite song, I think it did well. I grew to like Undo It, but I'll agree with a few others that Songs Like This would have been a better choice. Plenty of fans loved Undo It, but it was pretty polarizing to the country audience. Songs Like This would have appealed to more people, I think. Then Mama's Song had to be released. Cowboy Casonova, Temporary Home, Songs Like This, What Can I Say, Someday When I Stop Loving You would have been perfect for single choices this album. If there are 6 single releases, This Time to close out. As others have said, Carrie needs to ditch some of the Pop writers and producers for the next album and stick with country. Maybe have an occasional pop writer (like that David Hodges guy who helped co-write What Can I Say). Kara needs to go. And, whoever did the production for Quitter needs to go too. Stick with country writers. I felt a big problem with Play On that wasn't as bad with the previous albums were the lyrics in several songs like Undo It, Mama's Song, and Quitter. 2 of the 3 were with Kara, and the other one was with a pop producer. Oh, and Dudley, I loved your review of Oklahoma Wind. Oklahoma Wind is a masterpiece, and unless the song makes the next album, I will never understand why it wasn't included on Play On. Sometimes, Carrie really makes me scratch my head. But, who knows, maybe her plan is to save some of her real masterpieces for future albums so she will ensure she will have a long career. That's what I like to think anyway.

I am upset too that Carrie didn't win but oh well, there's going to be more chances for Carrie to win a big award that doesn't have to do music in general, I also agree with Vinman that being one out of five people to be nominee for Best Original song is a great feat even though Carrie didn't win there is alot of time in Carrie's career. Of you really think There's a place for us was undeserving to win a golden globe you are very mistaken and mean.. I would have pick Carrie's song or Country Strong..

^ YAY!!! I really hope she continues to follow her current November or October release trend!
I'd be happy if the next single is SWISLY. And then the first single off of the next cd should be an upbeat song or a midtempo. I hope it's a midtempo in the vein of All American Girl, I feel like songs like that fit Carrie really well, and the first single should be a song that brings it.

I'm sad Carrie didn't win... but a nomination for the first song she wrote for a movie is a pretty brilliant feat. And I'm also very excited that she's working on album #4 in the next few weeks Hopefully she'll produce a brilliant one :)

Aw, too bad about Carrie, but a nomination really was a win! Hopefully she'll be asked to sing in other movies. A nomination for the first song you ever help write for a movie is a win. I think, if she happens to get an oscar nod for that song, the outcome just might be completely different. The Golden Globe voters are basically foreign, so they might have voted for the artist they know, Cher, instead of for the song itself. Oscar voters are more contemporary and will know the songs and the artists, including their reputations. She might have a shot at winning, though a slight one. jmo

^^A strange song to pick for an audition, but it worked. Obviously a Carrie fan. Talk about a song from left field though.

This may not be the right place to ask this, but seeing all of the discussion about the Golden Globe nomination has had me thinking. Does the song have to be written for the movie, or can it be just a song that the artist was sitting on that works for the movie, like "Today Was a Fairytale"?

It has to be specifically written for the movie. That's the reason "Come What May" or whatever that song was called was not eligible from Moulin Rouge. It had been written for Romeo and Juliet but never used.

How do they know if it was written for a movie specifically?

How do they know if it was written for a movie specifically? I don't know, but they could probably check ASCAP and BMI.

A woman is singing "Temporary Home" right now on American Idol. Yesterday there was a girl who sang "We're young and Beautiful." It's awesome that Carrie is being sung by these auditions! :)

What happened on Idol was just so touching. As a Carrie fan, it's something special to see a Carrie song have such an amazing impact on regular, everyday people.
