Why do you guys hate Undo It? I love it. It's catchy upbeat and fun. Have you read the lyrics? Agreed, lol. 'Undo It' was a bad attempt to relive the 'Cheats' theme both sonically and lyrically. That being said, the live version of 'Undo It' >>>>>>>>> recorded version, IMO. I much prefer 'Songs Like This', although I feed the recorded version >>>>>>>> live version.

Why do you guys hate Undo It? I love it. It's catchy upbeat and fun. The complaints are more so aimed at the fact that Carrie has already performed 'Undo It' at a dozen televised events rather than the quality of the song. Undo It' was a bad attempt to relive the 'Cheats' theme both sonically and lyrically. Nah. Not really. People say this about pretty much all of Carrie's up-tempo boy bashers and it's just not true. The only legitimate BHC 'clone' would be 'Last Name' and even that's pushing it.

The only legitimate BHC 'clone' would be 'Last Name' and even that's pushing it. We clearly agree to disagree. 'Casanova' is an "up-tempo boy basher" but, IMO, has very little similarity to 'Cheats'. Although 'Last Name' and 'Undo It' have more in common to 'Cheats' sonically to my ear (and of course the video to 'Last Name'), my lack of love for these two songs has less to do with my perceived similarity to 'Cheats', but rather more to do with lyrically quality. For example, the 'I take the chips and the Pinto and hit the road" or the majority of 'Undo It', especially the "nah-nah-nah", were, IMO, just poorly written lyrics. Because of Carrie's energy and vocals, she was able to win me over with her stellar live performances. I am still awaiting the day Carrie puts out a highly cohesive, introspective record like Miranda Lambert's 'Revolution'. That record, I feel, will be a career-defining record in expressing her artistry potential.

Now that I think about it more, I think the duet with Steven could be for AI. It is Rock n Roll Hall of Fame week so that would fit the theme and they could do a medley of Aerosmith songs. I'm thinking the duet on the ACM's will be with a country person. That being said, she is supposed to rehearse today so maybe we'll get the scoop to end all the speculation. lol

^^^I'm hoping for her 4th album to be like that. She needs to write with more of the writers that got her the bigger hits of her career, whether they were singles or not. In other words, Hillary Lindsey, David Hodges, Ashley Lovelace, Josh Kear, Chris Tompkins, Gordie Sampson, and not Kara DioGuardi. "Undo It" was a hit and all, and "Mama's Song" was a surprise to me when it made the Top 2, but lyrically, they're a couple of Carrie's weakest. Carrie needs more "What Can I Say?", "Crazy Dreams", "Someday When I Stop Loving You" and "Wasted", and less "Undo It", "Last Name", and "Cowboy Casanova". So pretty much, don't include as many boy-bashers, and more meaningful songs that she can really connect to. The four listed that she needs "more" of are, in my opinion, each solid songs that are some of her finest.

This Michele Vanhorn person has tweeted again, she's now certain that the Steven/Carrie rehearsal was for the ACMs. We clearly agree to disagree. 'Casanova' is an "up-tempo boy basher" but, IMO, has very little similarity to 'Cheats'. I am still awaiting the day Carrie puts out a highly cohesive, introspective record like Miranda Lambert's 'Revolution'. That record, I feel, will be a career-defining record in expressing her artistry potential. I never disputed the quality of 'Undo It' just wanted to make it clear that I think describing 'Undo It' as a 'bad attempt at reliving BHC' is off base. 'Before He Cheats' is a bluesy country number whereas 'Undo It' is some high octane redneck arena-rock similar to Blake Shelton & Trace Adkin's 'Hillbilly Bone'. But, OK. That last bit regarding Revolution has nothing do with my discussion point.

So we're pretty much certain that we're getting a Carrie/Steven collabo. Cool! I never expected that, so I'm pretty excited.
To be quite honest, I don't care what they sing. It's a rock legend and a Country powerhouse collaborating together, and I get to see it in person. So. F*cking. Excited.

Apparently Carrie rehearsed in Vegas tonight, but Steven Tyler was still in LA at the Kids Choice Awards. So who knows whether their duet is for the ACMs or for Idol. Either way, it seems Carrie is pretty serious about keeping this thing a secret until tomorrow night - looks like her rehearsal was locked down, as there are no images up on Getty for her but there are for all the other artists.
Edit: Nevermind. Carrie rehearsed later than was expected. Still sounds super top secret, though. No one is releasing the name of the duet partner.

Sounds like Carrie won an award! :) This was posted over at Carrie Fans by a member who was commenting on a FB post of Bethany Hamilton's. "Okay, so on Facebook, a friend and I were talking on a Bethany Hamilton post about how she's a presenter and how it would be awesome for her to give and award to Carrie (and also joked how she should host the show and the subject of she and Carrie should host the CMA's) and this was her response! "You guys are all too sweet! I will not be hosting the ACM's but I am sure stoked to be presenting an award to the AMAZING Carrie Underwood. What award you ask? Well you will just have to tune in! " So, with that, I am not sure she thinks there is multiple nominations or if there's an un-mentioned award or what, but I take this as Carrie is not going home empty handed tomorrow night!! (Don't shoot me if I am wrong, this is just my thoughts on her comment.)" Sounds like one of a few options: I don't think it would be Female Vocalist because those results are sealed, so nobody knows who wins that one yet. a) Crystal Milestone Award b) Home Depot Humanitarian Award (C.A.T.S., ACM Lifting Lives, Pedigree Foundation, etc.) c) "Sorry for snubbing you out of the trophy you deserved" Award

So pretty much, don't include as many boy-bashers, and more meaningful songs that she can really connect to. The four listed that she needs "more" of are, in my opinion, each solid songs that are some of her finest. Personally, I don't think having one or even two boy-bashers on the next album would be a bad thing necessarily if they are well-crafted. Cowboy Casonova was a great first single to the new album. It should have been a bigger hit on country radio, and I think it would have if it didn't run into the mega-collossal Need You Now that cut its time at #1 really short. I do agree with you about Undo It and Mama's Song. She needs to stay away from Kara! She has done no good for Carrie! I feel that was a big problem with Play On. While Play On had some great songs, there were some duds, lyrically. Unfortunately, those had to be released over some of the great ones. It's funny because with Carnival Ride, I felt like the songs were written better, but I wasn't crazy about the production choices that were made. Songs like I Know You Won't, All-American Girl, I Told You So, So Small, etc. would have been so much better without all the loud production that takes away from Carrie's voice. Play On did a better job in that department, but some of the songs' lyrics were just awful. Quitter, Undo It, Mama's Song, 3 of the worst written songs Carrie has ever had! If Carrie can find the right songs matched with the right production, she can make a really great record. There doesn't necessarily need to be a theme. I'm hoping this 4th album will be that album that blows the country audience away.

I don't want Carrie to completely avoid the boy bashers, because she definitely shines a lot on those songs. However, I don't think there should be as many on this next album. 1 or 2 would still be fine. However, we had "Cowboy Casanova", "Undo It", "Songs Like This", and "Unapologize" on PO. "Unapologize" was much more quality and wasn't as much of a "boy basher", but it was still regret on a boy. Therefore, I just think 4 is too much for an album that has 13 songs on it. One or two would be a much more appropriate amount, IMO.

^I understand you. I think she just needs to take the time and find the best songs she can. Record the best 12, 13, or 14 of those songs and put them on the album. If these include 1, 2, 3, or even 0 boy-bashers, then so be it.
One other note I would like to add. Carrie is praised about being able to nail the vocals on the first day or two. Personally, I think there should be more time spent. Yes, Carrie is the kind of vocalist that can nail the vocals on the first day, but that doesn't mean she should. She is the kind of artist that just gets better the more she sings a song. She gets more comfortable with the song. That is why it seems that her live versions of songs are better than the original. She is much more comfortable singing them if you understand what I mean. So, I think she should take some time to get comfortable with a song before recording the final version of it.

It's about her regretting that she apologized for saying she loves him. It's a love song, definitely not a boy-basher. I do agree that there should be less boy-bashers on the next album, though. One or two is fine, but I'm hoping they go in a different direction for the singles.

I agree with the past few posts here. Carrie Underwood, in the year 2011 should release the CD of her life. That should quiet the critics out there. I do not care what kind of songs she chooses for CD #4, but make sure they are of high quality (even the songs left behind as album cuts should be killers, not fillers!).

I'm excited. I heard it's at the beginning of the show (thankfully). She'll get some flack for it, of course... but doesn't matter to me!
