I'd say there is a 99% chance that the People In Planes song will be better than whatever Pop Evil comes out with. Had the song been called "Pretty Buildings", I would have ruled out even the 1% chance of Pop Evil topping it. That song is untouchable.
Pop Evil started sub-mediocre with "Hero", and got even worse with everything else. I wouldn't be THAT surprised though if they managed to write one song I liked.
So far though:
"Hero" C+ "100 In A 55" C- "Breathe" D Stepping Stone" C-

I liked "100 in a 55" well enough. It sounded like a 3 Doors Down power-ballad to me. Didn't hear anything else by them until they opened for Seether recently. First of all, I was surprised to see their singer is black. Second of all, they're horrible. Seriously, I can't recall a more cliche, dated, modern hard-rock band. They were like the band who plays all the local radio station's festival shows on the local stage in the early afternoon, who, at best, might attract major label attention, but never get the deal, and ultimately fold after 5 or 6 years of getting nowhere.

Except they got the deal. How do you explain this discrepancy?

Not really getting into this song as much as I was into "100 in a 55". I guess it'll either start growing on me or I'll never like it.

Funny that no one's been keeping tabs on this. I dislike the song myself, "100 in a 55" is farrr better.

#11 is the peak. speaking of the album, I read on a blog that the album could come out as early as April

Top 40 - Alternative 44 40 POP EVIL - Last Man Standing 170 158 12 0.516 *cringes* I don't hate this song, but that really should not happen. This is way less alternative-sounding than Adele, Mat. :)

If "Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay)" can make the top 20, there's no reason this shouldn't comfortably dent the top 40.

Hehe just making sure. Shinedown has also had some songs with more semblance of a sound that could be called "alternative". "Save Me" and "45" come a bit closer imo than anything Pop Evil has put out.

I was kinda putting that aside and comparing the two songs alone. Justice by Rev Theory (and similiar songs) failed to make the top 50, so there's obviously something different about this that appeals to Alt.

Yeah, that it went top 10 on active rock. That's the only difference.
